Heat 1: 62.2 Heat2: 65.1 Heat3: 62.8 Heat 4: 63.4 Heat 5: 65.0 Heat 6: 63.4 Heat 7: 65.0 Heat 8: 67.1!!! I left after that When you think that times the week before were 59.4 and similar, it shows how there was no racing just riders trying to stay on for 4 laps without getting injured.

@kylmakorpi: I got a fine from refusing to ride in heat 10 as I thought it was unsafe and the meeting got called off due to unsafe track after heat 10??? @Chris_Holder23: @kylmakorpi should never of started the meeting.. Everyone knew how rubbish the forecast was.. It was raining in ht1! Was only a matter of time

I can. With torrential rain and gale force winds, if I hadn't had a season ticket I might have not gone as would have thought it might be called off and also not much fun with rain blowing at you all night. Yes I imagine it will as it was in the plays offs home and away. Makes you question why that is

Poole V Kings Lynn - Wednesday 3rd June.
mdmc82 replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hardly evenly matched. King's Lynn are having to use guests. -
Because track was deemed dangerous @kylmakorpi: I got a fine from refusing to ride in heat 10 as I thought it was unsafe and the meeting got called off due to unsafe track after heat 10???
-
That's a good point. The track got worse each race and they were right to not come out in heat 10 as Holder & Watt proved when they almost crashed when just two of them going through the motions.
-
Sky would rather put riders safety at risk than call it off. We have seen EL & SGP meeting called off for less than the conditions last night
-
The track was dangerous from the start. Whilst he was telling everybody how great the track was at 6.30, he didn't tell them about the torrential rain at 7.10 onwards and the fact some riders were still not happy when they were trying to make the track rideable still at 7.25. Coventry wanted it called off before heat 6 but we're not listened to.
-
Great post 👍🏻 The sport is already dangerous enough. It's okay for those not on bikes to send riders out but it's the riders who would be the ones to suffer if they had a terrible crash. Riders safety is more important than points.
-
In heat 10 the track was that bad that the Poole riders out on the track on their own couldn't even control the bike (thank god there hadn't been 4 in the race or we would have been looking at a crash) yet the track had been the same since the early heats so why not call it off then. The rain became heavy at 7pm and hit the track hard, they were still trying to get the track rideable at 7.20pm so they knew it had deteriorated before the meeting started.
-
Fining the riders for putting their safety first is shocking!! The riders know better than anyone the conditions out there so who has the right to send them out there and force them to race when it is dangerous. I love this sport but that wasn't speedway last night. There have been some low points for this sport but last night has to be one of the lowest. It's really concerning what lack of interest in riders safety there is esp after all the serious accidents there have been. It does make you wonder how much longer this sort of thing can go on for and what the future holds for our sport. If it is now deemed safe to race in gale force winds and torrential rain, does this mean there will be no more rain offs on sky or in general as not sure how sky would be able to say last night was safe and then call off another meeting in lighter conditions.

His latest post does. He wants to know which other team can fit him in for 2015
-
Your wrong there Gater1 as usually the stadium has a great attendance esp in big meetings like this. I have known meetings against Poole & Wolves on sky where there have been queues to get in and it's been packed and that's at full price. Tonight it was empty as most people, esp those who live in Coventry and we're experiencing the heavy rain & 45MPH winds thought it would be called off, which it should have been. Easily the worst conditions I have watched speedway take place in.
-
Good post Chris The problem is too many clubs moan about the current rules and underhand things that go on but few will speak out.
-
Darcy won't be at Poole in 2015 but is looking to ride elsewhere. Posted not long ago @D_Dublu_racing: On a serious note. Which uk teams could fit me and want me for the rest of 2015 ? Would be special !! I'm open
-
Can't really compare the two. Weather much worse for this one. Not being allowed to prepare the track isn't good either.

http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.3192 Very Interesting and honest podcast with Horton about tonight's meeting. A extremely low day for the sport.

Belle Vue -v- Lakeside 1st June 2016
mdmc82 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If you had been the sky meeting then you would have been expected to race even if torrential rain and gale force winds! -
I have seen meetings called off for a lot less than this. Tonight was shocking with little concern for riders safety 😞
-
You may think people are "over reacting" Arya but if you had been at the meeting then I'm sure you would have a very different view. It's hard to get the full picture watching it at home. The rain was pouring and the wind was gale force Was the worst conditions I have seen riders race in.
-
👍🏻 I don't know about you but we had to go slowly driving back in it as was hammering against window and low visibility. God knows how riders were expected to go round with no brakes at high speed in that 😞
-
Honest answer, it would have been off before it started. This isn't Poole's or Coventry's fault. It's the fault of those in charge. When we got there at 7.10pm, the rain was falling and I couldn't even keep up my hood because of the wind. To start with we thought it was off as the stands were empty and they were still working on the track due to the rain getting heavier. The camera near the start gate blew over in the wind and they had to put wood on the stand to keep it down. The protective covering blew off the greyhound track and you could feel the rain coming in at you in the stands. At that point a lot of us in the stands thought there was no chance of it being on in these conditions and thought we were getting ready for a rain off. Was shocked when it went ahead. There was no atmosphere as no racing, just going through the motions, the wind kept blowing the tapes making it harder for the riders and you found yourself just hoping nobody got injured from either team. A lot of people started leaving after heat 6
-
I think if those in charge of keeping this meeting going tonight had a career ending injury like Havelock, they wouldn't be so keen to send riders out in such dangerous conditions! It's sad as this is usually one of the best meetings of the season but you can't even call that a meeting. There are no real winners tonight. Yes Poole have 4pts on the board but it was a bit of a hollow victory. Horton loses out on income as lowest crowd yet and those who did go paid to see riders go through the motions. Terrible advert for sky. The fact that riders from the same team nearly came to grief when on their own and that the times were slower than NL says it all. If it's now deemed safe to race in torrential rain and gale force wins then I would expect no more rain offs in future

5th V 4th - Wolves V Swindon - 1/6/2015
mdmc82 replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Count yourself lucky it wasn't on sky. You would have been made to race in torrential rain & gale force winds. -
I was there last year and whilst it was raining against Swindon, it was nowhere near how it was tonight. I don't remember gale force win or torrential rain throughout. This was a new low for the sport
