  1. COVENTRY'S intended 2017 line-up will still be racing at Peterborough on Sunday March 19 - and supporters should note start-time is now MIDDAY. Full report from www.peterboroughpanthers.co ... PETERBOROUGH can confirm their exciting opening fixture of the 2017 will go ahead . . . and it's set to be one of a kind! The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers welcome Coventry to the East of England Showground on Sunday, March 19. And the high-noon showdown, brought forward to midday from its original 5pm slot, will feature the full intended Bees line-up for 2017 until their recent pull-out from the SGB Premiership. That means top former Peterborough star Kenneth Bjerre, British champion Danny King, Jason Garrity, Lewis Kerr, Lasse Bjerre, Josh Bates and James Sarjeant will all line up at Alwalton. Peterborough promoter Ged Rathbone said: "I want to place on record my thanks to all seven Coventry riders for agreeing to be part of this meeting. "It is brilliant to have the full Bees team at the East of England Showground and it is likely to be the only time they ever take to the track together. "They are determined to put on a great show and I know they are all desperate to see as many Coventry fans in attendance as possible. "It is a chance for the club's supporters to be seen and heard, and we'll do our best to make it a memorable occasion for them. "It also has the makings of a terrific meeting and it will be a great test for our new-look team. "I believe Coventry would have had an outstanding chance of winning the SGB Premiership title with the team they assembled." Normal admission prices of £16 for adults, £13 for concessions, and £5 for children aged between 10 and 16 apply. Under 10s are admitted free with a paying adult. The change of start-time is to avoid a clash with Peter Karlsson's big farewell bash at Wolverhampton, which is also scheduled for 5pm. Rathbone is aware that some Peterborough fans may be keen to travel to Monmore Green for the send-off of a Swedish star who had two spells as a Panthers rider. Share This: Facebook Twitter

  3. Home Latest News Fixtures/Statistics Club Admission Riders Corporate Fans History Gallery UPDATE: MARCH 6 Monday March 06, 2017 CLUB owner Mick Horton says his efforts to bring the Coventry Bees back to the tapes will continue, despite the news of their withdrawal from the 2017 SGB Premiership. He said: Our thoughts are with the fans, riders, officials and the wider speedway world, for whom this came as shattering blow. Much has been said about these events, but the decision is final and we must now all look forward, not back. Finding a venue to race at remains the top priority, and Horton remains in discussions with Cllr Michael Stokes and others to this end. In the meantime, a group of dedicated fans containing expertise in several different areas including media and marketing as well as the sport itself, will ensure that Coventry Speedway will not be forgotten during 2017. They are working on various initiatives during the season to raise funds for the riders left out-of-pocket by the last-minute decision that the Bees will not compete in 2017, as well as longer-term objectives. The Group will be launching a website with details of their events, and representatives will be making a short presentation at the NSSC on Thursday March 9. Horton has made public his willingness to pass the mantle on to a new owner, and invites any potential purchaser to contact him to discuss this further by email at mick@coventrybees.co .

  5. Will a facility be granted if there are clashes?
  6. They do have priority now as he signed for Ipswich first. That's why Coventry lost priority They do have priority now as he signed for Ipswich first. That's why Coventry lost priority as he wasn't officially signed before the fixture list was released.
  7. I thought that but he meant he's helping with some work at the stadium
  8. CLUB representatives are currently looking into various ways to assist Bees riders left without a Premiership team place. One possibility is the running of a series of challenge matches involving as many of Coventrys 1-7 as possible. For any such matches arranged, we would hope to organise a 50% share of net profits to go to the Bees riders signed for 2017. Efforts are also being made in the media to keep the clubs situation as high-profile as possible. BBC Coventry & Warwickshire broadcasted an hour-long Speedway Special on Monday, whilst the Coventry Observer have launched a Save Our Bees campaign they can be followed on Twitter at @covobservernews . We hope other areas of the local media will be encouraged to follow suit to help ensure the Bees absence from competition in 2017 proves to be only a temporary blip in the clubs rich history. Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club have a meeting next Thursday (March 9) and will be discussing plans with their members. Share This: Facebook Twitter
  9. It says in the Observer that as well as the Peterborough challenge meeting they are also looking at possible other meeting where money would go to the Coventry riders. This would be good for keeping the bees on track
  10. It might just be to let people know about campaign or possibility of the Peterborough challenge meeting

FRIDAY 10th MARCH. 4pm BRANDON STADIUM SAVE OUR BEES: Help support our campaign by joining us outside Coventry Stadium next week THE COVENTRY Observer is inviting everyone supporting our Save Our Bees campaign to join us outside Coventry Stadium next Friday for a special photo call. Since launching our campaign on Monday, we have received tremendous support and we now want to make it publicly clear what this club means to the people of Coventry. On Friday, March 10, at 4pm outside Coventry Stadium we will be hosting a photo-call and we want fans of all generations to turn out and show their support for the world-famous club. There will be opportunities to tell us what the Coventry Bees speedway team means to you and add what you think can be done from here to help save your club. We are asking fans to aim to get to the stadium for 3.30pm with a group photo taking place between 4pm and 4.15pm giving fans time to make their way to the stadium following the school-run. There will also be the opportunity to have your own individual picture taken to support our campaign. We will be meeting outside the main entrance to the stadium. Campaign leader Shaun Reynolds said: This club cannot be lost. As a keen follower of speedway, I was extremely saddened to hear the news when checking my phone on Sunday morning. Last year we ran a series of features with riders, MPs and campaigners about concern surrounding the future of the Bees. We received tremendous support, and we hope our campaign can help bring the Bees back to life in time for 2018 season. The Bees has a tremendous fan-base, its a community club people interact at the track, online and friends are made for life. Lets keep this community spirit going. Were inviting everyone fans, riders, residents to turn out and show your support for your club. Bring a flag, bring an airhorn, bring a friend and wear your most extravagant Coventry Bees jacket. Lets show Coventry how much we love this club. Visit https://coventryobserver.co.uk/news/campaign-save-our-bees-a-coventry-observer-campaign-to-get-the-bees-back-on-track/ for more information about the Save Our Bees campaign.

  13. Rumours the day following Coventry's news that Sky have now dropped out of the deal.
  14. EXCLUSIVE: Speedway legend Chris Harris backs Observer campaign to save Coventry Bees https://coventryobserver.co.uk/?p=45974
  15. There should be a page from the observer when you click. Working for me
  16. I would rather see King go to a team I like for 2017 like Belle Vue than one I don't.
  17. I know we are all hurting and everything feels negative at the moment but the worst thing we can do is give up. We know we won't be racing this year which is a huge blow but we need to do all we can to try and make sure this isn't the end for good. The Coventry Observer are the first to openly take action. They have started a campaign to save Coventry Speedway. https://coventryobserver.co.uk/?p=45969 Twitter quote: First Save Our Bees story going up tonight at 7.30pm. An interesting read. The campaign to get the Bees back on track has started! #SOB
  18. 😥😥😥😥😥😥 That looks like it's us finished for good. Can't see there being a 2018 Sandhu backing out of the financial agreement was the final nail
  19. What is the predicted team for Coventry/Belle Vue?
  20. Wasn't Branford in the easier reserve races last year whilst Sarjeant & Klindt were in the top 5? Branford will try hard but I don't think he will be anywhere near the top 3 reserves in the league. He wasn't when he rode for Swindon. Branford - maybe in the top three of reserves and with such a solid top 5 is unlikely to reach the main team all season unlike Allen, Bates or Klient/Newman Really? I personally would say that Klindt/Newman, Bates/Kerr, Huckenbeck, Sarjeant and possibly Ayres & Clegg are all better in the top league. The 5 listed first are all capable of performing in the top 5 in both EL & PL. Branford is a long way off being in the EL top 5 and still rides at reserve In the PL rather than the main body. I can't see reserves like Branford, Shanes, Zach coming out against riders like Doyle, King, Masters or even second strings like Gomolski or Starke and beating them.
  21. Why wouldn't he be? He's had the whole winter.
  22. Trust a pirate fan to start such a negative thread!
  23. Any idea when there will be any news on signings?
