I've not been on facebook but have wondered where the monies raised from the official fund would be going as the site itself gave absolutely no information and as I'd never heard of it was a bit suspicious. This link does make things slightly clearer http://speedwaygp.com/news/article/4399/official-ward-fund-opened

King's Lynn V Swindon 9th Sept 19.45

Sorry Trees poor choice of words on my part. I agree with you it should be celebrated but won't hold my breath -
You sound like Gustix Sorry I'm going to disagree. I believe that self moderation and restraint is the way to go. Relying on moderators is too much like the ruddy Nanny State this country is becoming. To be honest trying to moderate this forum since Sunday would be more than a full time job and if people are not adult enough to behave and show respect they are best ignored.

Slightly changing tack here. All those that understandably had a go at the idiot Tipsy Twerp and quoted his post have simply given him/her/it more publicity AND should the moderators intervene given them more work. Be nice if some of them could go back and edit their posts take out the content of the quote and substitute the word RUBBISH. I think that's against the forum rules but pretty sure in this instance no one will complain.

Well they could always have used mid/late August to fit in the 50th anniversary meeting that Trees keeps banging on about -
Speedway Satr Interview With Dave Swanton
Star Lady replied to topaz325's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It seems a lot of the "older" fans think the same. I cannot get any enthusiasm for a team made up of riders who simply turn up, do 5 heats then get in a vehicle and push off to Sweden/Denmark/Poland and do it all over again elsewhere. -

I didn't actually say Lynn I said clubs, but just to please you as the BSPA are a collective Lynn (especially with Buster on the Management Committee) have to take their share of the blame. If spedway is a professional sport, and we all have opinions on that, the foundation has to be a professionally produced and run fixture list which many people have been saying for years. As stevebrum says the weather hasn't been that bad this year, so I cannot for the life of me think why the cut offs should be extended. Oh come on BSI decree that it does, surprised you've let that one past -

If that happens, and it wouldn't surprise me (no offence to Coventry all clubs would do it) how is that fair on Belle Vue, Swindon, Kl and Poole. Cut off dates are by their name cut off dates and should be set in stone. I hate drawing comparisons with football but can you imagine them putting off the FA cup Semi Finals....of course not. -

Star Lady replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No I won't but we arranged a family holiday so the family wouldn't miss any matches, so chose the week before the play off cos we trusted the cut off date!!! I really ought to know not to trust anything to do with speedway after all these years. -

You would think so wouldn't you? Even if it was a double header. -

Star Lady replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What the hell has it got to do with Sky? Clubs agree to the fixture list. Regular meetings every 2 weeks would allow plenty of time for rain offs to be fitted in, could accommodate the odd date change for Sky but no we go weeks with no meeting then cram 2 or 3 into 10 days or so. Says it all about the BSPA's attitude to fans that they decide to extend the season but can't be arsed to send out a PR to tell the fans and we find out from a local radio station -

Star Lady replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ruddy ridiculous . Clubs that cannot fit 14 home league matches into 26 weeks really have no business to be in business. So if it Ps down on 8/9/10 Sept which it may well do what happens then. Clubs that cannot fit their fixtures in by the cut off should suffer the consequences of finishing in the league position they are at on the cut off date. -

I live 2 miles from the track and it hammered down most of the morning as well as during the night. Raining as I type. -

I doubt it Kelvin. No one more cynical than me but the rain Monday, covers would have to have been off, so track very wet, wouldn't have been able to put covers on that, plus rain yesterday and today's deluge. Complete and utter slop. -

Risk...acceptable Or Unacceptable?
Star Lady replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'm female and don't do technical or mechanical, so bear in mind I have no idea what the device you suggest would do, but wouldn't it be easier to simplify the engine rather than develop something extra. Less components to fail or go wrong as well. Of course the biggest problem with anything that will reduce the perceived power is getting the riders to accept it! -
King's Lynn Vs Leicester 24/8
Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Presumably any club not able to ride on Weds would get the first leg. Of course knowing speedway authorities they won't have contemplated two clubs being in that position. After all Poole ride on Wednesdays -

Simple solution, schedule a meeting every two weeks leave third week free for any rain off from them continue thro the season with a clear two weeks before play offs. Unless weather is exceptionally bad all fixtures should be complete. It would also provide continuity for fans, no more 4 meetings in 2 weeks followed by three weeks of no meetings. That's a simplified frame work, can't be bothered to tax my brain too much cos it won't happen Of course it would help if the British fixture list was out before Sweden/Denmark/Poland but can't see that ever happening under the present BSPA set up. -

Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Why There have been 26 weeks to fit in 14 home league meetings. If they can't manage that maybe they should change to organising P*55 ups in a brewery. Didn't Sweden used to have a system whereby if a match was rained off it had to be completed within 14 days (I think), it's not rocket science. -

Rain has arrived, later than forecast, was supposed to stop at 1700 so who knows. Not a lot of breeze to push it thro.
