Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
Star Lady replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just for my cynical little brain could someone tell me the scenarios if Lynn get a) 3 points at Poole tonight 4 points at Poole tonight What needs to happen for Belle Vue to make the play offs and/or Swindon to finish 2nd? -

Call me a cynic, and you'd be right but Poole don't like going to Kirky Lane, I don't think they like Coventry much either, along with their riders not being at their best physically and mentally it just makes sense to me. Of course that would also mean that Swindon would have to finish 2nd (no idea if that is mathematically possible) and Poole pick Lynn and Swindon get Coventry in the semis. That would lead the way for a Poole vs Swindon final which let's face it would be like manna from heaven for Sky to go into overdrive with the Darcy rode for both teams hype. -

Excellently put, especially the bit I've highlighted. I'd add that the promotion don't appear to have put much effort in either. Very few quotes unlike Rosco, Middlo and Mark Lemon so the fans feel ignored/left out/not valued and no arse kicking and sacking of non performing riders. It's all very well saying we win as a team and we lose as a team but a team is only as strong as it's weakest link and if you have a weak link you mend or replace it. I've just had the impression that the passion has all but left the club, it's only some of the fans that have any left. -

Well it was a dream Lynn will probably be lucky to get a 4 as the first digit of their score -

I predict a close meeting with the scores seesawing back and forth, level at heat 13. Lynn get a massive 5-1 in heat 14 and finish off with a 4-2 in 15 thus winning by 6 points and claiming 4 league points. Let's face it Holder and Watt are not in right mind set at present (understandably) and Magic is carrying an injury. Bjerre is due a massive score, Lambert was flying round Wimborne Road last visit until he did literally fly into the fence and NKI is NKI. Lawson is a decent guest. And then I woke up, but stranger things have happened and Poole do not like visiting Kirky Lane Edited to add as the scores filter across to Brandon, Pearson and Tatum will be astounded, gurning their surprise and turning to Chris Louis and his big TV to try and explain what went on -
Much the same as the Lynn team of 2015 have gone off. Started gradually, nothing changed and it went totally ** up. I'm trying to get back on topic

Sun shining 2 miles from track. Let's hope it actually starts on time this time. -
Tracks years ago, I'm talking 60s here, from memory seemed to have much deeper dirt. My non technical/mechanical minded brain says that that in itself would slow bikes down. Surely it would also slow down a rider sliding along the track into the air fence or another bike sliding along the track before it slammed into a stricken rider. Not by much granted but every little helps. Or am I completely wrong, which is quite possible.

I don't do forecasts but altho there is a fair amount of white/grey cloud the sun is shining at the moment, pavements have dried and the breeze is quite strong, washing drying nicely on the line . -

Weather update. Been a fair breeze most of the night, pavements damp but no big puddles. It's cloudy but there are patches of blue above and there is a bit of a breeze. No idea what that means for the track but hey ho -

That would just gift Lynn the points as BSPA said it had to be run. Bomber for Doyle? -

It gets better. Milik has quit (where's the cynical smilie) and Lynn get a facility for him Is that one of the changes you promised Haza ? -

NKI's Swedish semi has been postponed from Tues till Weds. He should therefore be free to ride in this. Seems he will also ride at Poole. -

I think in this case they had little choice. This has to be run and is the easier of the 2 outstanding fixtures to get points from. They cannot ride Weds or Sat this week. That leaves Tues, Thurs & Fri. If they leave it till Thurs/Fri and it's rained off again it may well not be run imagine the furore then. As I said above, it used to be the case that if clubs couldn't agree a date the BSPA told them when to run it, common sense therefore says run it as early as possible in case the weather intervenes yet again. (did I really put BSPA and common sense in the same sentence ) It could also be the case that they are trying to get Swindon here on Friday (again in case of another rain off) -

As I've been saying for a while. Seriously it used to be that the home club offered the away team 3 dates, if none were acceptable the BSPA decreed when the meeting should be run. Anyone know if this is still the case? If it is, Lynn are innocent Of course if the original meeting had started on time this whole thread would be unnecessary -

Star Lady replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would guess Chris had agreed to it being a professional, however it would have been much better IMHO to have taped an interview some time before the meeting and shown that. -
That's simply unfair. Why should a team riding as part of a double header not be allowed to use a facility a team in a single meeting can. Both Lynn & Rye House were using r/r last night and there were no significant delays because of it. Certainly far less than in an EL meeting. Just needs riders/pit staff, officials and referee to ensure non r/r heats are run as quickly as possible to counteract the obvious extra time 2 on the trot needs.
-
You got it all wrong screamer, the changes promised were to the cut off date not the team
-
Why can't the promoters get their act together.
-
My point is if you ask for an extension to the cut off, surely you should know when you can run the meetings if not it's a pointless exercise.

Just back from this one. My first NL level meeting for quite a few years. Thoroughly enjoyed it apart from it being a bit on the nippy side....winters draws on Looking at the programme I thought I'd gone back in time when I saw the name George Hunter......you have to be a certain age Racing was as good as any EL meeting I've seen in the last 2-3 years. Most heats had closely contested battles even if they didn't all have overtaking, tho many did. The race between Luke Priest and Josh Bailey was brilliant. I didn't see one move by either side that could be judged as even remotely dirty, no gamesmanship of any kind. When there were spills, apologies followed ASAP. There were a few spills, a couple of spectacular ones but the riders walked away thankfully, the bikes didn't! The track was good and smooth with very little tractor grading and to be honest it didn't need any. Despite both teams using r/r for the most part riders for the next race were lined up in the pits ready to come out as soon as the previous four were off the track. The riders did laps of honour, they waved and even attempted the odd wheelie......well my family were flummoxed, just what are fans supposed to do in those circumstances, it don't happen at EL matches All in all I was very impressed. Just a shame that there were not more people there cos it proved you do not need overpaid, egotistical, journeyman foreigners to make a speedway meeting entertaining. -
What's the point of extending the cut off for the play offs when they haven't got a date
-
Looking on their website it says" whilst racing for their British based teams". From that I would assume the answer is nothing. As it is a registered charity I think they have no choice but to stick to their own rules.
