  1. Lovely sunny day, now a few white fluffy bits in the sky. Fairish breeze so will be chilly. Will it start on time? Questionable after the delays at Lakeside and Bank Holiday traffic.
  2. No. Been raining off & on all afternoon. Nothing worse than standing on terraces even in light drizzle, wondering if it will ge past 10 heats when all parties are happy to rearrange tomorrow when no rain is forecast
  3. Would be helpful if they could mention disabled access/facilities in the stadium info.
  4. He was a sweety pie and very polite, I got more hassle from the staff when I tried to get to the office He simply asked if I could wait around for a while so he could attend to riders/staff etc. which I was happy to do. Whilst he was still around I never worried about the weather when travelling to BV matches.
  5. Home only mate, no way am I venturing near the M25 and M11 on a Bank Holiday. That's the diplomatic answer in case any Lakeside fans are reading
  6. I've been offered refunds (well strictly speaking I asked and was given) at several away tracks. The most surprising, and I think Trees was with me, was at Belle Vue in the days of John Perrin, despite BV and Lynn fans telling me I had no chance. I guess it depends how and when you ask. I am surprised about Matt Ford tho, I always thought of him as one of the promoters who treated fans well.
  7. Hopefully it will make it easier for you to get a lift Bryn You never know I might even put in a guest appearance
  8. Excellent!Could even show clips of the racing from the previous week.......oh hang on a minute, not allowed cos of GSs exclusivity DoDah.
  9. Sensible decision. Been raining for last 30 minutes or so. Far better to postpone now than an afternoon of is it on or not.
  10. Any of those would be OK, bands were just an example. My point is you cannot expect people to pay today's prices for 15 races of what is often far from exciting sport. I'm pretty sure P/borough do do interviewsetc before the meeting, certainly they do during it. As I said speedway is supposedly a professional sport but rarely does it live up to that word. For all you dislike BSI, and I have some sympathy with that, they are professional. They put on a show.....and make sure the riders play their part in that too.
  11. It would help if the track was ready and pristine before punters entered, you don't see grounds man painting white lines at PL footie matches when e stadium is open. Speedway is supposed to be a PROFESSIONAL sport after all. Pre match entertainment of some kind, there must be local bands who would jump at the chance to perform publicly, for instance. The biggie is the riders, they need to realise they sure being paid to entertain the paying public for more than 4-5 one minute duration races. Wave to the kids as if they mean it, cknowledge the cheers and a few more might actually bother to cheer which would help the atmosphere you think the fans alone should provide. I could go on, but if speedway wants to be a professional sport and charge the prices they do, it has to start providing more than just 15 separate minutes of track action. It will not survive solely on people like yourself who are satisfied with what they provide now.
  12. Ta muchly might give it a go if the weather is as bad as they say.
  13. Now come on Semion evenyou must get excited when you get to the stadium and the tractors are still laying the track to the sound of banal "music" and not much else. Cheers your socks off at their formation grading for 30-60 minutes depending on what time you get there and even you will be all warmed up to cheer and shout at the riders whilst they do a couple of laps of the track with their arms at a 90 degree angle pretending to acknowledge you. When the meeting proper gets under way you can cheer and wave at the race winner and you never know if he's from the away team he might even wave back at you
  14. Try reading this, I've highlighted the appropriate parts just in case you have a problem finding them. By the way, it's part of the official statement from Belle Vue issued on March 21st. Certainly read to me that Colin Meredith (and indeed anyone else from BV) are not allowed to do anything other than advise.
  15. I dont want to be seen as kicking BV when they are down but I recall reading posts on Sat night and Sunday from their fans asking why people supposedly in the know didn't publicly say there were problems with the track. Some of those same people have since complained that Edinburgh, Cradley and Wolves announced Friday was off before Belle Vue is. Anyone else see double standards here? Far better to call off any meetings until the track has been properly tested so that only good news comes out of Manchester.
  16. Thanks for the clarification Philip. Maybe Fred flange would like to say he was wrong, only needs one word. Starts with S and ends with Y
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't we told that Meredith was only allowed to advise, not "lay the surface"?
  18. Forgive my ignorance of live streaming but is this a "lift" of a professional filming or something arranged solely by Davey Watt. Will this be a single camera or multi camera. Will there be commentary in English? I'm sure for people who regularly view streams my questions seem stupid but if you dont ask you dont find out
  19. Probably the most sensible suggestion to date, which is why it will never happen.
  20. i thought I read that Buster wasn't going down the squad route this year. I could have been dreaming tho cos the season so far in this country has been a bit of a nightmare
  21. Posted Today, 12:42 PM PHILIPRISING, on 22 Mar 2016 - 08:49 AM, said: So would it be correct to assume that the other rider didn't think it was fine? because that's what your statement implies Just thought I'd re-ask this one, in case you missed it Phillip
  22. So would it be correct to assume that the other rider didn't think it was fine? because that's what your statement implies Really after what happened to Chris Louis when a cone was left on a track!
  23. The BSPA are not the SCB (altho their members do overlap somewhat) and it is the SCB that issued the licence not the BSPA. Therefore the BSPA as an organisation had no power to stop the meeting going ahead. Whether the BSPA should have made representations to the SCB is another matter. IMHO they should have, but having read thro the speedway regulations the actual condition of the track is not mentioned, so I'm not entirely clear on what grounds the SCB could have refused to issue the licence. All in all it's a mess that no one comes out of with any credit and once again the issue of an independent governing body with the power to make such decisions needs looking at.
  24. Presumably because according to the BSPA statement a licence only covers the length, width of track and the safety fence but crucially not the track surface. Something that in my view is wrong. Relevant sentence from statement below. Having gone thro the SCB track regulations (pages 19/20) there is absolutely no mention of the raceability or even rideability of the track.
