  1. Been there, done that It's not quite that easy. First you have to find a supplier who will either trust you with their stock or find a heck of a lot of money to stock the shop. Then you have to staff it, find someone to do stock control, do the accounts etc. Get to meetings mega early and stay late to clear up, count money etc. It can be done with a good team of helpers but it is one heck of a commitment and without some brilliant guys and gals to help would be impossible. It was good fun but ruddy hard work. Before you ask, no I wouldn't do it again
  2. Whilst I agree wholeheartedly with you, those days are gone. Norris and Parker would have received life bans if they had tried their party pieces nowadays, but as you say people always remember them even if they have forgotten the races that happened the same night. Lynn fans looked forward with relish to the visits of Eastbourne. UK clubs meant a lot to riders then, nowadays they are just one of several. Just an observation, but several riders tweet every week about how they are looking forward to racing for their clubs in Poland. Those same riders rarely, if ever, tweet about looking forward to racing for their UK club. I wonder why
  3. Not really, think they have had their day. Sad in many ways cos they help provide a feeling of community in a small way, something lacking at Lynn nowadays. they are also good for arranging transport to away meetings.
  4. Thanks Danny. Saw his Mums tweet this morning but agree the silence is worrying.
  5. Sorry but no. Could be 3 or 4 people taking pics but not periscoping all in the same general area, so that doesn't PROVE anything except that their phones are raised in their hands.
  6. Be even better if David Rowe had a new partner in crime
  7. Would any promoter be able to prove beyond any doubt who actually periscopes the footage? They might be able to trace it to a particular phone/ account but surely they would have to prove whose finger pressed the button.
  8. Weather - plenty of blue sky with lots of white fluffy things mixed in. Quite warm, barely a breeze. Just heard 2 very distant rumbles of thunder. No sign of any wet stuff. Edit....just had a shower now easing off, save a couple of laps with the water cart;) sun now shining again
  9. Its raining and I was bored so just watched this. He's not very well informed is he? He thinks they have only had a few races on the new Belle Vue track and that Sky are going to be showing BV vs Poole on April 27th. Yeah right obviously doesn't read BSF Never thought I would say I missed Woffy, but I did. Woffy at least comes across as articulate and interested. Holder just came across as a laid back Aussie I guess it filled a few minutes on Sky Sports News.....how does anyone watch that carp? but IMO it will do absolutely nothing to advance the cause of speedway, let alone British Speedway. Oh wait cos it won't .....it's Sky As I said I'm bored EDITED to add, I watched the facebook one, from pics on twitter looks as if there were two interviews.
  10. A few years back, probably before Sky became involved, very few league matches were raced before April. The season didn't start until March 15th and the first few weeks were taken up with challenges, individual meetings and Spring Cup type fixtures. Those matches were far less important, so postponements didn't have such an impact. Personally I think March is far too early for evening (and sometimes daytime) meetings it's far too ruddy cold. Not that I thought that when I was younger of course
  11. He tweeted last week that he was going to London, presumably to see a specialist, but I've seen nothing since. I find that slightly worrying if I'm honest.
  12. Updated website is now online. No idea if it's lost any hi tech gizmos but at least it's easy to read now with black on white. So gets my approval for that at least
  13. Wait until the Met Office issue a heatwave warning, then be prepared for sun delays
  14. According toBSPA twitter feed Stoke on Saturday and Buxton on Sunday are now off. No reason given
  15. But a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. You only need a couple of stick in the mud dinosaurs and progress is not an option.
  16. Well they are advertising Sky's new system as FLUID viewing. Boom boom
  17. The Met Office started giving storms names
  18. Probably cos we have had more rain offs so less meetings Cant you tell I'm a Libran
  19. Actually it wasn't raining on Monday evening.
