  1. That may be your opinion, it's not mine, so we will have to agree to differ.
  2. Maybe Messrs Pearson & Tatum could explain the rules before the meeting instead of showing all the clips of previous matches. They have 48 hours to research it after all
  3. I have nothing against Tai as such, I enjoy watching him racing in Poland if only for his team riding skills which are sadly missing in the UK. I just don't much like his attitude in recent years. You have to admit that to say he doesn't want to ride in the British Final which would take two days in case he suffers burn out slightly contradicts an announcement that he is giving up more than one day (as series of schools is plural) for a training school. It may well be that whoever does his publicity isn't the best at wording things . Far be it from me to suggest that the schools will be more lucrative than the British Final If youngsters are willing to fork out for his training school, instead of other more established ones, just because he is World Champion that's their perogative, however just because someone is a master of his trade does not mean they can teach others. Technique can be taught, talent cannot. As for fitness and diet, I wan't aware he had any qualifications in that area. What suits Tai and works for him may well not work for other people.
  4. Been many comments about Gollobs race when he beat Woffy. I have to say if Woffy had not been team riding Milik around so well, that race would have been rather run of the mill. Takes more than one rider to make a good race.
  5. exactly. If he wanted to "GIVE something back", he could turn up at Poultec or any of the other training schools and pass on his knowledge free gratis.
  6. Hope they don't cause him to burn himself out.
  7. I can understand your frustration but even for Belle Vue the Royal Mail do not deliver on Sundays.
  8. Ray Wilson sponsored by Bostik, which he had on the rear end of his leathers.....funnily enough he didn't seem to fall off that often
  9. I'm pretty sure they didn't which was part of the problem for some riders.
  10. My aged memory seems to remember rumours that riders didn't like it cos it was harder work and they got no extra for it, but I could be going senile I agree bring it back at least extra effort has to be put in to justify double points. Wearing a black and white tablecloth to get double points for stuff all is a waste of time
  11. You have to begin to wonder if the rest of the track will eventually encounter the same unexpected defects that have materialised on bends 3 & 4. I sincerely hope not but it does seem that the contractors, whoever controls theml, are somewhat less than ideal. Someone has made a right pigs ear of all this.
  12. The BSPA did when he suggested training camps for Team GB. Woofy didn't attend. I don't do booing
  13. Well here's a prediction for you In the 10th season since that happened, he will ride in the UK and be granted a testimonial
  14. That may well be the case but the peripherals that went with it were so much more entertaining. Norris and Dugard baiting fans at Lynn was worth the admission alone. Shane Parker at Ipswich commandeering the tractor. Hancock & Hamill (neither of whom I like particularly) guaranteed to team ride, brilliantly, at least once a meeting. Winning riders did a lap of honour almost without exception. Losing riders lost their rag quite obviously, stomping their way back to the pits. Joe Screen and his magnificent wheelies. Speedway admission should never be about 15 heats alone, entertainment has to be provided as well. The onus of that falls as much on the riders as it does on the promoters.
  15. Sorry to hear you've not been well, hope you recover soon. The longer you are away the less the inclination to return. Absence seems to give you far too much time to find negatives, and sadly they multiply all the time and I've seen no attempt to stop them from the BSPA. I miss going to see a "good" meeting but in all honesty when I have made the effort to get to EL meetings at Lynn, good wouldn't describe what I've seen. Like you I don't think one decent race constitutes good value. My visits to Peterborough tho and an occasional NL meeting at Lynn, have kept my interest alive.
  16. before you post an epistle Multumesc when the promoter tells you he doesn't want a supporters club you either laugh or cry. I Always Look On The Bright Side of Life
  17. Probably because he didn't want them to in case they succeeded I may not like him but I have him down as a very astute cookie. He knows exactly what he is doing.
  18. Well said. Doesn't matter if he's British, Swedish or from Timbuktoo some people just don't like him. I'm one of them. I fail to see why I should pretend otherwise just to appease the "you have to support him cos he's British" brigade. No idea why that makes me sad or pathetic rather than honest. For the record I don't like Greg Hancock either . Most other GP riders I'm ambivalent about with the exception of Nicki Pedersen who I love.
  19. Not often I like a post by Steve Shovlar but agree with this one, altho I'd prefer absolute silence when he is announced, he's not worth the effort of booing
