Contraversial I know but could it be because they are sheep? Thousands desire tickets for Man U, Liverpool etc but local teams in lower leagues only attract a few hundred. That's a far bigger percentage drop than top division speedway to National League. You either like football or not. I sometimes wonder if all the Man U team played at Lynn in Lynn colours whether more than 600 would turn up without all the media hype.
-
Most certainly were. Half the fun was seeing how many of the riders overtook you between Lynn and Ipswich. The fastest on the track weren't always the fastest on the road lol. In my younger, more foolish days, we did a treble header. Lynn in the morning, Ipswich in the afternoon and Peterborough in the evening.

Blimey Trees, we agree! On its own it won't solve all the problems but it's the core component so has to be right.

Danny with respect all the marketing in the world is worthless if the product it's advertising is not worth the money being asked, £10 yes I agree would be great but folk nowadays expect more than 15 one minute bits of action surrounded by 2 hours of banal music and verbal crap. especially in the cold months when its seems most fixtures have to be run to allow for all the FIM qualifiers etc. People won't return if they have frozen their bits off standing on crumbling concrete (Lynn isn't crumbling lol) and only seen a couple of half exciting races. Give them some entertainment as well as the races, it doesn't have to cost a fortune, there have been dozens of good ideas posted on here in the last few years but it seems the BSPA as a collective, with a few exceptiions, think that they only have to stage 15 races. I would like nothing more than to go to Saddlebow Road regularly again and enjoy myself. The first part of that is easy, the second, the bit in bold, is increasingly becoming far more difficult.

As I'm no doubt one of the usual suspects I'd like to make it clear I have nothing but admiration and sympathy for Buster and his efforts to sort out the mess that British speedway has become . My comparison of yesterday's efforts and a speedway meeting were partly tongue in cheek but if you can't see the similarity I'd suggest you open your eyes. Anyone who thinks Buster or any other individual can sort the mess out short term lives in cloud cuckoo land. It's time for the BSPA to bite the bullet and appoint someone to oversee and Run the sport. More than that that person needs to put fans at the forefront, cos British speedway hasn't got much else going for it at present. I don't know the answers, I doubt anyone knows all of them but keeping fans happy and making them think they are valued would be a reasonable start.

Well this broadcast/podcast was typical speedway. Promised a lot, then failed to start on time tapes/link broke no announcement (on the unbroken twitter) of what the delay was eventually the tractor stopped going round and we got the first 4 heats (or set of questions), then another delay because of the sun and we got another 4 heats then another interval cos that's the professional way to treat fans then another 4 heats then yet another interval just make sure fans were really P'd off and finally the last 3 heats in which the most important question of the day was not answered i.e. Does Coventry run. Apologies if the important question was answered earlier but I simply can't be arsed to watch it EDITED to add I've just looked at the SpeedwayGB facebook site and there isn't a word of apology for the inconvenience.....why doesn't that surprise me

Not quite Danny, that clown managed to inflate the balloon, I doubt the BSPA could do that!

What a shambles. Sadly none of us are really surprised.

So sad to hear this. I got to know Bryn like most on here thro speedway. I used to sell raffle tickets with Carys, his daughter. When myself and a few others set up KREST to raise funds for the Lynn riders, Bryn was the first to offer his support. Without his help, advice and support we could never have helped the riders as much as we did. But that was Bryn, if he could help you out he would, if it helped speedway too so much the better. I came to regard him as a friend and it was thanks to him that I was able to watch racing from a referees perspective (when he was actually doing the refereeing for STRs) one of the many ways he helped the sport. He was always at the end of the phone, or more often emails when advice was needed. He IMHO was the best announcer in the business. He did so much behind the scenes that many were unaware of but he did it for the love of the sport and speedway will much poorer without him. RIP Bryn

Merry Christmas to all, even those who wind us up, post numerous silly links, ask stupid questions, post under multiple names and generally entertain us. This forum would be far more peaceful without them but also rather boring. So eat, drink and be merry.

I gave up looking at speedway websites when they became clones of each other....that and the ....."read more" ..... link WTF is that all about, if I didn't want to read it I wouldn't have gone to that page in the first blooming place

Pretty sure that JC has posted in the past that he has nothing to do with King's Lynn Speedway, the same as most of us on here, therefore is perfectly entitled to post his opinions. As for whether or not he talks to his family, I'd suggest that is nobody's business except the family.

In true panto style Oh yes he is! Seriously he is one of the very few posters on here who has proved his identity with pictorial proof and testimonials from other forum members ( inc myself).
-
I would hope they are being offered to BRITISH riders only.
-
I'll second that.
-
Well at last it seems Buster (as chairman of the BSPA) has done something right and managed to unite British fans
-
Sorry to hear that, hope it's just a seasonal bout of man- cold get well soon.
-
Typical ruddy Poole! We get a bit of fun running on this thread to brighten up the grey days and Ford has to release a superfluous press release.
-
At my age I reserve the right to go missing when my team mates forget the art of team riding and the ref decides we all have to take it very seriously and can't have any handbags to liven things up Put me in the team when any monsters are about tho and I'll be up for a maximum
-
thats an OK team as long as tress doesn't have any hairy moments.
-
Have you taken on the role of media person for KL cos you are doing a far better job than some of the recent incumbents Oops nearly forgot my manners......thank you kind sir
-
But I'm a Chanel No 5 smelling friendly troll and my New Years resolution is to not reply to any post that is off topic which will probably last until 1315 hours on Jan 1st

Does Holder ride in the Danish league? I thought Aussies have the UK classed as their home league so add Sweden and Poland and that makes three. Thought your maths was better than that SCB
