Rye House V King's Lynn - Tuesday 29th August.

Porsing rode in Sweden because their rules regarding concussion are not as strict as those in the UK. Porsing fell last week, banging his head and withdrawing from the meeting with yet another concussion (he has been out for quite a while with the after effects of an earlier concussion). In the UK that is a mandatory 9 day suspension. Quire rightly so IMHO (I personally think for a 2nd and subsequent concussion it should be longer but hey ho). Therefore it matters not one iota when the Swedish match was programmed he would not have been allowed to ride in the UK, and I believe his manager said that ban finishes on Thursday. EDIT Beat me to it GRW. I do agree all countries should have the same rules but if others do not take concussion issues seriously (and they don't appear to) the UK should go it alone on this one. -

Why can't Chris drive Jacks van out to Poland, he's not exactly overworked at the moment -

It amounts to the same thing, fans were short changed. What the sport needs to do is learn from this and Lynn last week and ensure it can not happen again. I won't hold my breath tho. -
Rye House V Kings Lynn / Kings Lynn V Rye House
Star Lady replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just tweeted King's Lynn Speedway @KLSpeedway 9m9 minutes ago More BREAKING | Thursday night is now a DOUBLE HEADER: Stars v Poole 7.30 plus Stars v Rye House. COME AND BACK US AS WE BATTLE TO BEAT THE DROP! This could throw up a whole can of worms :- 15 heats or 10? Will Lynn have full team vs Rye? Will Poole rider guest for Lynn if necessary cos of injury (hopefully not needed)? Does this mean there will actually be relegation/promotion at the end of the season? This could run and run -

There is of course another aspect to all this. Will Somerset be fined for fielding an understrength side? That might be seen as unfair as they had done all they could to ensure a full team. What effect will this have on paying customers (was a very big crowd from all accounts) who are not regulars, will they be impressed....I doubt it. That will affect Swindon and possibly Somerset in the future. A team down to 4 riders has happened twice now in the space of a week. After last week at Lynn folk were saying it couldn't happen again!. Injuries cannot be accounted for that's accepted but whose responsibility is it to ensure fans see a full team performing on track. It could be argued that Somerset should have ensured there was a bike available for a guest to use, or Swindon (of the staging club of a double header) should ensure machinery is available or should the onus be on the rider. Whichever it is the long suffering paying customer is the one that suffers. Maybe double headers should only be allowed if a substitute Guest rider is on standby and also spare machinery, provided by the staging club. Personally I'd ban double headers, they should not be needed in an 8 team league with 24 weeks to fit fixtures into. -

I don't disagree that years ago the speedway world was better ..it was certainly different However we live in today's world. A world where some, and I emphasis some, riders seem happy for any excuse not to ride on a track they don't like for whatever reason. Fans who pay good money deserve to know that everything that can be done to provide the paid for entertainment will be done. If that means going thro all the disciplinary route so be it. It's nothing personal against Bjerre, I do not know enough about him to form an opinion as to his trust, belief or integrity. I'd say the same whoever the rider. -

The problem with giving him a "bit of slack" is it sets a precedent. It opens up the door for any rider in the future to refuse to ride because he has no usable equipment. He should be reported, the SCB should consider all the evidence and make a ruling. If they decide his actions were justified and no further action is taken - fine. That at least would mean in the future any rider refusing to ride would know his actions would be subject to scrutiny. If no action is taken I can foresee a scenario where a rider considers a track to be dangerous, has no medical issue so cannot get a certificate but somehow manages to render his bike unusable and refuses to ride. That must never be allowed to happen. -

I don't disagree about double headers, never liked them. If speedway were an amateur sport my views would be different but it's not it is supposedly professional. In Which case all concerned must act professionally. Holder didn't in that notorious meeting, faced disciplinary action and was banned and fined. Bjerre should face the same, if the panel then find extenuating circumstances covered by evidence he may well face lesser or no action. I have no problem with that. -

Well he allegedly lent one of his bikes to his brother, so it's not as if he didn't have the equipment. Fans should be able to rely on riders honouring their commitments. You wouldn't be happy if a copper turned up to arrest someone then said sorry I can't I lent my handcuffs to my brother. -

So did he have a medical certificate? If he accepted a guest booking for the second meeting in a double header he should have prepared for the possibility of damaged bikes. Riders are meant to be professionals which means having the equipment to fulfil their commitments. That might sound harsh but paying fans are the ones suffering. -

If he accepted the booking, is not injured (with a medical certificate) he should face disciplinary action. Same as Holder IMHO. -

So Rye House jumped the gun. Hasn't stopped folk blasting Buster tho -
I believe there is a big charity banger meeting there today. Probably been in the fixture list long before the speedway fraternity gave a thought to fixture planning;)

1 Maybe after all the comments about double headers Buster has had second thoughts about another one, if indeed it was ever AGREED in the first place. 2 Perhaps they have listened to the complaints from fans about riders doubling up/guesting and affecting their own teams chances of progress has made then think of the scenario of a rider being injured in the first match and having to be replaced by a Poole rider, the team that Rye are vying for over a play off place. They may have listened to the fans 3 Possibly Lynn offered Rye three dates, but on all of those dates Rye couldn't field a full team so they unilaterally decided to announce the date hoping to put pressure on Lynn 4 Maybe it is all agreed but by some kind of oversight Lynn simply haven't informed the fans, and will do so at 7 o'clock on Thursday. It could be any or none of the above but the likelihood is :- 1 Possibly 2 Never in a month of Sundays 3 Possibly but in that case they don't know Buster very well 4 Probably -
I couldn't give a tinkers cuss which tuner did which engine. I cannot SEE that, it doesn't entertain me. All it does IMHO is add to the cost. but then I'm simply a fan of 50+ years who remembers JAP vs JAWA, the coming of the Street variations, the invasion of the 4 valve and the demise of the 2 valve. I would add that the QUALITY of the racing has not improved so to my female logical brain what's the point I probably could name a couple of tuners because commentators repeat them ad nauseum, but haven't a clue which rider uses which. If discussions about tuners are necessary to keep fans entertained the product itself is not good enough

I'm assuming you were a fan on the terraces before becoming involved with Niklas and I was wondering how your views on the sport and the way it is run have changed since then. If indeed they have. I appreciate you may not have the time (or even the inclination ) to reply but I for one would find your views very interesting. -

Sorry GRW but Briggs riding in a World Championship and Carter riding for the British title are totally different to a young rider risking making an existing injury far worse in a match that to be honest meant nothing and is 3 days before he is due to ride in a European final. -

I would think Lynn would be reluctant to stage another double header after last night. At some point common sense must kick in.
