  1. If most meetings were of that standard I for one wouldn't have walked away from the sport. I'm not in favour of super tuned bikes but last night didn't come across to me as a track simply for fast bikes. If you think Batchelor has more talent/trackcraft than Bewley for example I suggest you are rather biased.
  2. I and most other folk pay enough tax to councils now, why the hell should taxpayers be expected to subsidise any sport
  3. Writer replacement doing a sterling job. As for the guest he's scoring more points than me
  4. Splendid performance so far chaps writer replacement/guests working a treat
  5. I would comment on this but I've a prior comitment getting on with my life on Wednesdays but don't worry Haza is guesting for me, Daniel Smith, waytogo and gi3webb are all eligible to post in my place
  6. I only read Lynn and GP threads nowadays. I read before the season he was riding for Poole and then that PK was a short term replacement so I genuinely didn't know what to think when I saw the Worrall announcement. TBH I couldn't give a flying fart where Holder rides or even if he does after last season, just thought maybe it was another Poole average manoevure.
  7. I've not been paying attention.....thought Chris Holder was riding for Poole this season.
  8. I always understood the home team offered 3 dates, if the away team rejected them all the BSPA/SCB told both parties when to run it.
  9. Apparently riding in the Danish league which takes priority, it takes something beginning with P but priority isn't it !!!!
  10. It will never happen It makes too much sense,
  11. I think you missed the point. Parents who don't like their kids being tired for school the next day will stop at home. Which means speedway misses out on capturing a new generation of fans. I agree fans have a choice but the sport is dying, fan numbers are dwindling, the sport needs all the youngsters it can get. If starting 15 minutes earlier gets just a dozen extra kids interested, IMHO it's worth it.
  12. As children under 16 get in free maybe the promotion doesn't care if school kids don't come in term time. That's typical of the kind of short term thinking of the BSPA over the years
  13. I wonder just how much the footie/ half a team and weather have affected the crowd.
  14. 2 miles from track. Rain stopped about 30 minutes ago. The sun is now playing hide and seek behind some white fluffy bits in a blue sky.
  15. 2 miles from track and still raining quite hard.
  16. WEATHER Rain arrived at 0900. It's far from heavy, I'd class it as between light and steady. At present as long as it stops mid afternoon as forecast should not be a problem. Having said that the forecast actually says it's raining heavily at present.....it's not. Who trusts weather forecasts anyway Will update later.
  17. and for those worried about the weather. It's been absolutely glorious in Lynn today. Not seen a sign of the wet stuff. I lost my bet about a call off by today.....but there's always a burst water pipe damn sneaky things water pipes
  18. For those that don't do Facebook or twitter... Lewis Rose is taking a break from the sport. Lynn have signed Michael Palm-Toft as replacement.
  19. Sorry this is nothing but a total farce. I predict a Press Release on Tuesday calling Wednesday's meeting off because of previous heavy rain coupled with poor forecast. Anyone want to bet against it?
  20. 2 miles from the track is close enough I think We had a week or more of hot dry weather, so presumably the water table went down a bit. There was heavy prolonged rain most of yesterday, I don't think there was much, if any, overnight There have been a couple of sharp showers today and one about 15-20 mins early evening. Five or so years ago there would have been no question that the meeting would have gone ahead and been reasonable competitive but times/engines/riders have changed and the latter certainly don't like the damp. I can see where promoters are coming from nowadays in that financially to call off early might be wise but as g13webb says the meetings have to be fitted in later in the season, with the associated financial implications. It's a dilemma and one I'm delighted I don't have to wrestle with. My ideal answer would be to detune the bloody engines so that racing is reliant on rider skill, including the skill to ride in most weather conditions, but I realise it's a pipe dream.
  21. Then the sun came out, and now it's black over Will's mothers. who'd be a promoter
