Amazing how a thread gets hijacked by serious people. I'm with LT this thread should have been locked 4 pages ago -
Danish Grand Prix - Copenhagen
Star Lady replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A formula that was dropped because they said you knew the result way before the end and a big climax was needed. Yeah that worked well, now the series result is known well before the end. I guess that's progress, but count me in with the old farts who prefer a straight 20 heat formula, and preferably one that riders can actually qualify for. -
Danish Grand Prix - Copenhagen

I've got my cynical head on at the moment and it says Trick isn't going to make the Semis to allow the rest of the field to catch up slightly and so enhance the later rounds of the series. Not entirely sure what misfortunes will befall him but a combination of efs and dodgy exclusions sound good -
Cardiff Presentation
Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
and believe me Trees it's been very hard earnt today I'm pleased you can see that I was in fact trying to be constructive and I defy anyone to be too rational at time of day I posted I wasn't actually complaining, simply passing comment in the hope that it might be improved next year. I'm assuming those that say I was complaining think everything was perfect Maybe I should join the fashion and quit the forum cos everyone is taking my comments the wrong way but then you and Bryn both know that's not my way. I shall stay and be the proverbial PITA -
Cardiff Presentation
Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Mine too but it did have a nominal price of £7! I did enjoy myself but I'm assuming someone from BSI reads this forum as several suggestions in the past have been taken up so I just thought maybe we could help them improve . Call it a customer satisfaction survey -
Bit late but I've been busy. What did everyone else think of the overall presentation this year? U 15s - excellent idea, be better if they had had a "final" as well but something is better than nothing. Parade - as on Hummer thread, naff, boring and didn't work Presentation of riders - awful. Julia Bradbury looked totally out of place to me and I'm not sure that she added anything to it (apart from the obvious for the fellas) Progs - overpriced, loads of mistakes and omissions. Bjorn Again - Disappointed in them, sound levels seemed unbalanced and they really didn't get the crowd involved. Presenter - he was good but didn't have much zing IMO. Maybe BSI place restrictions on him as I've seen him get far more involved. Music - not exactly crowd involving IMO apart from the 14 renditions of Amarillo of course Interval entertainment - where was it? Fireworks - excellent but not as good as last year Big Screen - not restricted to Cardiff I know but I found the results graphics very hard to read on the big screen. As I don't fill a prog in, the big screen was the only way of knowing the riders accumulative scores and I couldn't read them

Cardiff Attendance
Star Lady replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sue, I'd provisionally book a room NOW, you can always cancel if necessary . We booked ours on Saturday morning out of the city and ever since have been trying to find rooms closer to the centre with no luck...unless you want to pay £100+. -
National Antem For Saturday
Star Lady replied to father jack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Apologies Stokie will edit the post now. THat's what comes of trying to cram reading the forum into a 20 minute break -
Old Saint, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the stewards but it's a bit unfair to tar them all with the same brush. Just to redress the balance I'd like to say in 5 years we have found the stewards to be helpful, considerate and more than helpful and without their help our party would find it very difficult to enjoy the GPs at the MS. Not had any dealings with the Heddlu tho .

National Antem For Saturday
Star Lady replied to father jack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm with Stokie on this one. I do not stand for God save the Queen. Why should I ask a "supreme being" (if there is one which I doubt) to save just one person. I stood for the Welsh anthem and I'll stand for Rule Britannia or Land of Hope and Glory. I'm just not a monarchist does that make me ignorant too EDITED for reasons of accuracy -
Grand Prix Competition
Star Lady replied to Steve Turner's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Amazingly I'm still hanging in there Any chance I can have the odds for the next GP ref being a ***** and me not recognising you for the 4th time In which case I'll have 20 credits on each. Reckon I would be on a cast iron certainty -
I thought George was 3rd in the second heat, at least I'm sure that's what they announced. Could be wrong tho as my ear plugs were already in use

I really enjoyed watching the juniors. They took to the track at 1720 by the way. You could see by their body language and gestures how much it meant to all of them to ride in the MS. OK the races weren't the most thrilling I've ever seen but those lads will never forget the day, and to be honest neither will I. I really felt for that poor lad whose engine died on him in the second race (didn't catch the name and wasn't in the prog).

The Ref Is A Clown.
Star Lady replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not seen the TV or read the rest of this thread yet but IMO the Ref was appalling, he spoilt the whole evening and has more or less knackered the series for the rest of the year. All refs make bad decisions, but he wasn't even consistent. Arrogant git EDIT now read the rest of the thread and Tony R was roundly booed on the 4th bend with quite a few people making "dive" gestures every time he came round. I personally thought his reception at the end, once he won the meeting was very muted, certainly 50% of the people near me on the 4th bend did not applaud etc. -
We were first in the stadium in 2003.....we have a secret weapon...the wheelie bin

Who are you calling a nobody At the prices BSI are charging I shall be there as soon as the gates open

Sorry all the above predictions ruled out as they lack 2 essential qualifications

National Antem For Saturday
Star Lady replied to father jack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I do my best every year to belt out the Welsh anthem as tribute to my Welsh family connections, at least this year thanks to SCB it might actually sound Welsh I don't wear ear plugs for no reason -
We went to Cardiff Bay in 2003 and thoroughly enjoyed it, found the bus easily and from memory they ran about every 10 mins or so. Well worth it if you are happy to give up some drinking time

Cardiff Castle Query
Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Tis the first hostelry after leaving the Castle Nevs. Corny would have to be really desperate to spend all day in there but if he is into goats you might like to tell him the regimental goats' name is Shenkin -
Cardiff Castle Query
Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
They did last year but it was all over well before noon (may have been earlier but I got a bit confuddled after we left the castle ) If Jemma wants a good run she could always try rounding up the regimental goat -
Anyone know if there is a ceremony at the Castle on Saturday to mark the Queens Birthday. We went last year and it was very enjoyable and even better, perfect timing....out of the castle and a wander down to Sams Bar via the Goat Major and a couple of other hostelries .

Cardiff Accomodation 10&11th June
Star Lady replied to BUDGIE's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Probably because of the scarcity of rooms in Cardiff on GP weekend, so people book well in advance on the off chance they might go. I'm not at the moment planning to go in 2006 (don't like new format and it's becoming too expensive) but I shall book the rooms before I leave this Sunday so at least I have the option if I change my mind in 2006. I would have thought as a fellow female you would understand forward planning -
Or just walk in thro a door someone had left open Agreed it's pretty boring but it's the being somewhere you are not supposed to be that makes it more interesting
