Scandinavian GP - Meeting comments
Star Lady replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Best GP I've seen for many a long month. Probably had much to do with the fact there was loose stuff on the track and Olsen couldn't have his ultra boring slick track. We had decent racing right from heat 1. If it takes a few rainstorms to ensure racing tracks, bring on the clouds is what I say Referee was absolute crap IMO, he got every single decision wrong. I'm amazed he managed to get his socks on his feet and not on his head. Quote of the night from Millard as Gollob rode back to the pits "I thought he was applauding the referee" -
He's changed tac Rabbit ....a sure sign that you are winning the argument

I don't totally understand it either, and I don't really want to. IMO it's a symptom or result of the dumbing down culture that abounds at present. It's about time folk who make EXTRAordinary efforts to achieve something were the ones that got the praise in all walks of life. Without wishing to put more felines amongst the feathered rats there was only one Brit last night that fits that bill and that was Simon Stead. Rico and Nicholls are regular performers on the world stage. Screen was and Harris tried but non of them made extraordinary efforts. Now I'm sorry if others don't agree but that's how I saw it.

Fariy4ever, I did not say I was proud of Team GB, I wasn't. Some of them performed and some of them didn't but overall the team did absolutely nothing to install a feeling of pride in me. As for them not failing I guess you subscribe to the "deferred success" cr*p one of the teaching unions is advocating. Whatever happened to aspiring to success. Let's reward all the kids that sit on their backsides and not acknowledge those that work their butts of to achieve success Rabbit (and others) at no point did I criticise Middlo. I just think he always seems to get bad luck (he says so himself) so maybe to change the luck we have to change the manager. Comments about the Poles buying success, why not it's not against the rules! It's not cricket but so what. Maybe if Britain had done the same we would have performed better. This is not a criticism but do we really expect the likes of Stead, Harris and Screen to have machinery of the standard needed for this meeting. Let's be realistic it would cost them a fortune for 2 meetings per year so why should they personally bear the cost. I thought the ref was OKish, I really didn't see any reason to stop any races. These are men remember not CL novices. I certainly agree about the Poles being proud/delighted to have won etc. Their wholehearted singing of their anthem was in complete contrast to Team GB at Swindon, even if they were only singing Rhubarb, Rhubarb Rhubarb (someone should teach Holta the Polish for beetroot so he could singalong )

So who do you suggest then If it's who I think it is I'd rather he was in the commentary box, he is much more fun than the biased, shouting idiots we had there tonight

Team GB were simply not good enough. Simple as that. Richardson rode well (still don't like him tho), Stead was IMO excellent considering his lack of experience at this level and Bomber did his best. Time IMO for a total change, forget the old guard, bring in more youngsters and while we are at it, ditch the one that never has any luck. I know it's sacrilege to say it on here but Middlo has to go. Change the manager, change the luck....who knows it might work. Give the job to someone who knows how it's done, knows how the rider feel and burst with patriotism.....Gary Havelock.

World Cup Programme
Star Lady replied to GMILLS's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
On right hand side of the homepage you will find SWC, click on that and it opens up the score sheet in excel. Simply print it off altho at the moment it looks as if the teams riding order have not been confirmed. -
World Cup Round 2

Blooming heck Shazzy this is getting to be a habit -
Not just the ref tho is it? Had it been Nicki P using the elbow, this thread would have been at 20 pages already Where's all the condemnation for a dangerous move? What Tony R did was disgraceful and could have caused a massive crash if Watt hadn't slowed so fast. For the record I've never liked Tony R either, even when he rode for Lynn so I'll carry on with my crochet

Amazing it was but we were yelling like hell for Adams to let Gollob thro to at least give the Poles a chance to avenge the injustice that was Rickardsson in the previous heat.

Calm down I don't recall any of us Richardson dislikers saying he faked an illness.........yet another example of things being twisted. Take a deep breath...feeling better now. Support the Danes you must be joking ....come on you Aussies -

Star Lady replied to full-throttle's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
He has not been slagged off, all we have said is we don't like him. Now if disliking a rider is slagging him off I'll plead guilty. Amazing how things get twisted -

And I'll crochet a massive shawl to keep him warm Cheetahawk, welcome to the circle, just make sure your wool doesn't clash with the colours we are using If we keep this going long enough it might even get halfway towards the length of one of the we hate Nicki P threads now I wonder if all those having a go at us, do the same to the folk that don't like him -

I've not met Tony Blair , but I know I don't like him -

I used to look froward to him riding until I realised that he appeared to hold the fans in contempt as he often did not appear. I've never said either were not good riders simply that I didn't like them Going back to my crochet now -
Lee Richardson
Star Lady replied to full-throttle's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No bigotry, I just don't like him full stop. For the record I felt exactly the same way about Ivan Mauger, it didn't stop him being a good rider, just one I didn't like. In Mauger's case is was mainly for his penchant for not arriving for meetings he was supposed to be in when I was looking forward to seeing him ride. In Richardsons's case it's his constant stream of excuses both before and after the events. Shazzy and ML can I join your knitting circle with my crochet.....I'm a bit on the dangerous side with pointed needles -
Practice Day
Star Lady replied to Citytillidie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Is practice compulsory? I ask because we would rather like Tomas Topinka at Lynn on Wednesday night -
Not read all this thread but I have to say what a crap track that was There were more passes made because of mistakes caused by a poor track than anything else. What the hell is the point of having the best riders in the world and giving them a rutted, inconsistent surface to perform on I suggest whoever is responsible come to King's Lynn and takes lessons, and anyone who was at the Premier Chase will probably agree with me. Rant over.

Nope, don't like Lee Richardson, never have and never will. It was his home track and if he can't ride it there's no hope for anyone. -
Czech Grand Prix - Prague
Star Lady replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
LT , my first comment after Lindbacks successful attempt at skittles was "Nicki P would have been proud of that move" my second was "bet there arnn't 20 pages slagging Linback off". My opinion for what it's worth was he was rightly excluded and the GPs would be a far more boring place without him and Nicki. Lord above knows they need something to liven the ruddy things up with this year. -
