Tickets For Cardiff 2007
Star Lady replied to falconnet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not guilty I didn't go this year and have no intentions of going next year. As you say they give less and less for more and more. I'd far rather use the not inconsiderable amount of money necessary to "do" Cardiff, supporting the clubs around the UK that allow BSI to take the p!$$ cos without them BSI would end up with no riders at all. To all of you that are going, enjoy. I'll spare you a thought at the extra 10 or so meetings I attend instead next year -
Precisely when did Tatum and Ermolenko qualify as referees?

Inexcusable Behaviour...
Star Lady replied to silver_phoenix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There is no excuse for such behaviour but apart from one or two posts at the very begining of the thread I can see no condemnation of the actions of the stadium owners in this. I know they didn't throw the glass bottles themselves but they supplied the ammunition and fuelled the idiots. Q who owns Reading stadium? and do they own any other stadia around the country? If the answer is yes would it benefit them to be able to report drunken fans at speedway meetings. Or am I adding 2 and 2 and getting 5? -
A Riders Reputation Preceeeding Him
Star Lady replied to ruckerroo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'd like to know what Loram was thinking as Bjarne walked away. The expression on his face as looked at Nicholls was priceless and I don't think it was admiration for the way the captains role was being enacted -
Swc Final Sat 22 July 2006
Star Lady replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
And the experience may well stand them in good stead (no pun intended) in future years. Whereas the GB pits were completely barren of young Brits. Mmmmm now is that because the GB high ups don't invite them or cos the young Brits can't be bothered? Or both! Just typifies the difference in attitudes IMO. EDIT Pretty sure we spotted Trevor Harding as well -
Swc Final Sat 22 July 2006
Star Lady replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Did anyone else see that Nicki had his foot caught up either under Jonssons foot or his footrest during the home straight incident. Only clear from one camera angle but it explains all the bashing and banging. One thing that seems very odd to me. Why was Simon Stead not with Team GB in the pits? He helped get them there and he should have been there for the final. Rory Schlien was quite rightly with the Aussie team. Seems to reflect the lack of team spirit/national pride call it what you will. And the best laugh of the night, Nicki hollering the Danish anthem for all he was worth....absolutely priceless -
Scott Nicholls

Coming from you Chris and the unbelievable rubbish you post at times I'll take that as a compliment -

The track was diabolical. I don't really see how the weather can be used as an excuse. It was even hotter yesterday but Huggy prepared the Lynn track to a very high standard. No blue line, no dust and plenty of grip for passing. Maybe they should sack Mr Olsen and employ Huggy as race director

Hans Andersen
Star Lady replied to pirate paul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agree 100%. Had Nicholls been the captain of the England football team there would have been a national outcry over his lack of sportsmanship. With the kudos of the captaincy comes the responsibility and than includes being a role model for kids in the art of sportmanship. Nicholls failed dismally. Can you imagine Loram behaving in such a manner....no neither can I. -
World Cup Meeting 2 @ Malilla 18/07/06
Star Lady replied to crazysue's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Millard is a clown. I expended more energy shouting at his mistakes than in supporting the riders. Get rid of him and perm any 2 from Pearson, Johnno, Tatum and Louis. At least they know the rules, know the riders and can tel a red helmet colour from a white one -
Gp Semi,s July 8-9
Star Lady replied to GARY POPPS's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
AFAIK it didn't start until 1300 UK time. -
Most sensible posting Chris, totally agree.

Why shouldn't they be in the public domain? These things obviously happened, no one has denied them! Or do you come from the fans pay their money and should be kept in the dark brigade?
-
I've not read the book but whatever it contains will not take away the memory of Simmo team riding with Bettsy in Lynn colours. Pure poetry in motion. Such a shame very few riders nowadays can even hope to entertain us the way they did in that respect

Cardiff Rooms Available
Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lioness, I like your thinking but as I am on away on hols the week preceeding Cardiff with my memory I was afraid I might forget to cancel and end up paying for the rooms anyway. Rabbit we will have to agree to disagree on this one. If everyone who was against the profiteering by the hotel chains, cancelled they wouldn't do it again. I know I'm in fantasy land but that's what these large companies bank on. Well I'm sorry they will not be getting any money out of me. If you or anyone else chooses to pay extortionate prices, that's your decision, I prefer to spend mymoney supporting my team and other British clubs. -
Cardiff Rooms Available
Star Lady replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Gem, I shall in some ways be sorry not to be at Cardiff mainly cos I won't get to meet you and all the other forum members I've got to know over the last few years. However I will not be taken for a mug, and IMO that's what these hotel chains are doing. I know all about supply and demand and fully expect all hotel rooms in Cardiff to be full. If they had said when the rooms were booked that the price would be £77 fine but they didn't and as I said I now prefer to spend my money on following the Stars on their travels. At present it looks like a 2/3 night stay near Redcar in August and probably another northern trip as well. That way we get to see some of the glorious British countryside as well. Speedway won't suffer, in fact it will benefit as any money we would have spent to get into the MS will now go to genuine British Speedway Promoters The bonus is I will get to watch the British GP live on Sky and hopefully see why everyone found Havvy and friends such compulsive viewing. If I'm totally honest the "show" put on by BSI has become somewhat stale and is no longer the draw that it was. As to the tatty rooms, we really couldn't be bothered. The beds were lumpy, but alcohol softened them there were cracked tiles in the shower room, only one sachet of coffee left in either room and when we asked for more were given 2 whereas in other years and in other Travel Inns we have just been given handfuls. Lots of little niggly things that we just ignored but the way this price hike has been handled annoyed all four of us. We use Travel Inns a lot and Roath is the worst we have ever stayed in, maybe it's do an upgrade....I'll never find out now will I lol. -
I've just cancelled 2 rooms for June 2nd and 3rd at Cardiff Roath, Premier Travel Inn. so if anyone wants to pay £77 per night for a tatty (and they were tatty last year) hotel room only go for it

Premier Travel Inn Price Increase
Star Lady replied to holbeachfans's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I will not and you can't make me The four of us that have booked rooms at Cardiff Roath have decided that Premier Travel Inns can stick their rooms where the sun don't shine. We will stay at home and watch on Sky. As was said in the original post, if breakfast was included it wouldn't have been so bad and in all honesty the Roath Travel Inn last year was decidedly in need of upgrading. So BSIs loss is about 4 PL tracks gain as we will now have 2 short breaks instead following the Stars away travels Racing will probably be better anyway -
Premier Travel Inn Price Increase
Star Lady replied to holbeachfans's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
They may be in for a shock then cos I'm certainly not paying for two nights at that price -
I was against it when it was introduced and still am. I've seen it help my team on several occasions but have NEVER yet seen it produce better racing which is what the public pay to see. In fact it does the exact opposite when the non TR/TS rider is constantly looking for the opportunity to allow his double point teammate to pass him. Drop the Dingly Danglies from a great height

Sorry but if he is anti Royal why was he so "honoured". Louise, we all know how protective you are of Gary and how you think he is wonderful, but could I respectfully suggest you get your facts complete and correct before you post. You not only make yourself look somewhat of an idiot, I would suggest you are doing absolutely nothing to enhance Gary Frankums reputation either.

I presume all those other stuck up people will also be attending as a way of being thanked for all their voluntary and charity work. What charitable thoughts some people have Best not say any more don't want to be modded

British Speedway Grand Prix
Star Lady replied to Waspie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm sitting here congratulating myself on being awake enough to grab the phone and change the hotel dates before the Cardiff phone lines went into meltdown Don't really care who is riding, I go for the social aspect as much as the racing.
