  1. After the first few races I thought Oh here we go again - boring. Delighted to be proved wrong after that. I've been a fan of PL for some time now, you don't need superstars to provide good racing and last night proved it. There was some brilliant racing, as someone else said track staff looked smart, even the empty back straight looked clean and tidy (perhaps doesn't close up but it did on TV). Two horrible crashes and I, and probably most others, thought the worst but Olly Allen has tweeted this morning that he is sore but OK and I've seen posted elsewhere that Andre Compton is OK and awaiting results of CT scan. Hopefully that's correct and neither have serious injuries. Someone must have been looking out for them last night if that's the case. Wishing a full and speedy recovery to both of them.
  2. Must be my failing memory but the Sheffield track I remember and loved used to have loads of dirt on it. This tonight looks bare by comparison.
  3. He's not tried to get Covatti a job tonight yet either!
  4. At a guess either BSI or FIM. Neither of which give a flying f@&t for British speedway
  5. Prob part of the rules & regs of the SWC. Makes no sense really as you say they race several times a week normally.
  6. Lewis Bridger has just tweeted that he had to pay to be at KL last night. Begs the question -why? There seemed to be dozens of non riding and non working "personalities" in the pits last night. Did the likes of Ermolenko and Louis pay? Bridger is a Team GB squad member, maybe if he had to pay it explains why there was little or no evidence of any of the other squad members in evidence. I doubt I'd pay if I were one of them. Well done to Bridger at least he was there to support Team GB.
  7. Well done Rosco, you managed what Middlo couldn't and with more or less the same pool of riders. There was some luck but we all need that. Can't see Team GB doing much in the final so I''d put one of the youngsters in.
  8. And to think someone was amazed that I wouldn't pay to go and watch this telling me it was one of the best meetings of the year!! Mind you he is a Poole fan
  9. Trouble is if fans boycott a couple of meetings, the promoters of those couple of meetings could quite possibly go to the wall without the cash flow. How will that benefit anyone?
  10. Hope you enjoy it foreverblue. Stick to the speed limit on the back roads, quite a few have rivers or deep ditches beside them and are quite twisty(that applies to everyone not just fb ) No excuses from me for multiple postings , if it helps folk avoid sitting in queues it's worth it Worth remembering it will take an absolute age to get out after the meeting as well.
  11. You are welcome to use those roads. I'm just not telling you which ones are the best to use some of those roads are little more than single track so if everyone used the same route you wouldn't go very fast. I was simply trying to be helpful as many people don't see the local news, I wonder why I bothered! However for the majority of nice folk on the forum there is a protest scheduled for the A17 tomorrow morning which will involve lots of tractors. Hopefully it will be over before the majority of fans arrive but anyone who uses that A17 knows how much chaos one tractor causes let alone a convoy of them. None of this will bother me, my seat on my comfy sofa is already booked
  12. I haven't seen this anywhere else, apologies if it has been posted. There are major roadworks on the A47 around King's Lynn which will probably have a big impact on people coming to the Norfolk Arena, which is accessed via one of the slip roads involved. The A47 itself is down to single carriageway contraflow at that point and with the start of the school hols, extra caravans being towed as it's the main road to the east coast and the SWC that road is gonna be very busy. I went that way this morning and the queues were bad. I'm not going into how to get round it as it would be unfair to the people who live in the villages nearby BUT folks leave plenty of time and use a fair bit of patience. Alternatively use your map to find a way round and not your sat navs.
  13. Funnily enough I haven't read much about the ref putting Pawlicki back in after his bend 1 fall in heat 6. A decision I found more contentious than NKI's exclusion in heat 15. Could that possibly be because it wasn't the final heat? I don't think I've ever said this before but I totally agree with Orion The referee's decision is final, whether you agree with it or not, whether it's heat 6 or heat 15. If not anarchy rules and the sport is daft enough at times anyway.
  14. So classy of Middleditch to have a pee at the back of the pits! Don't they have loos in Poole?
  15. Not a chance. I've a miserly old bird and I've paid my Sky sub (well Hubby has) and I'm gonna get my moneys worth I don't deny they are great for the clubs involved financially, and the fans but my sense of fair play still cannot see them being right, when a club that has scraped in to the top four can beat a team who could possibly have been unbeaten all season because of a freak accident etc. I fail to see why it cannot be a separate competition - yep I'm a stubborn old sod as well I agree with the rest of your post tho Incidentally semion makes an excellent point in post #42
  16. Can you quote the part where I said you or anyone else was stupid? I don't think so. I'll end this conversation now cos we are evidently not on the same wavelength . Have a nice day and I hope tomorrows meeting has 15 wonderful heats of racing for you to enjoy. Can't see both of those things happening tho
  17. I'm assuming your sense of humour gland doesn't do early mornings Check the smilie
  18. Thought can be dangerous when you don't have the equipment to make it function properly
  19. Looks like Star Fever and myself are nobodies. I've said it since they were introduced and have never and will never change my mind. Have them as a separate competition by all means but the league winners are the league winners in my eyes, whoever they are.
  20. Possibly because he wasn't asked the same question by the SS. Not trying to defend anyone here but it is very easy to quote certain words from someone's answers to enhance a story or make it more controversial. It's more than possible that Lyon went on to say how sad he was for Brum but that got cut because of space issues. If he did say exactly what is quoted then he was totally out of order. I take most things I read in most of the media with.a massive pinch of salt and cannot believe that anyone thinks they print the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
  21. Not really. I don't often see decent racing in most races
  22. Been some pretty decent racing. Sadly been an awful lot of faffing about, gardening and tyre warming.
