  1. Coventry all the way. Lynn cannot be that bad at Brandon twice . No one knows if or when Darcy might be back and Poole with Darcy are a lot more dangerous than Poole without him. Swindon....can't stand the place so I'm hoping Poole thrash the backside off them in the semis Will probably come down to finances. Poole/Swindon is likely to get a bigger crowd than Poole vs Lynn or Coventry and Lynn/Coventry will get a bigger crowd than Lynn vs Poole or Swindon in the semis. Fans will travel for the final whoever it is against so can see promoters going for the bigger pay day semi to be honest.
  2. If Poole can have agent Pedersen I see no reason that Lynn can't have Special K
  3. Fascinating match in prospect. Probably will be won by the team with the strongest elbows Let's just hope for once we have a Sky match without any crap and just see some decent racing. I admit to not being a fan of the Swindon track but I'm open to having my mind changed
  4. That should read some young riders need all the support they can get when standing at the bar.
  5. Some people have very short memories. Lynn fans were devastated in 96 when we had no speedway and are now taking pleasure from it happening to someone else. Sorry that's out of order.
  6. You have to ask WHY they don't want to ride. It's not the fault of the powers that be if riders simply don't fancy it. If it's for a more valid reason then I agree it needs sorting.
  7. I shall miss Eastbourne if they go. At least if the racing is crap you can always moan at Bob doctoring the track .then there was the notorious 75-0'which has gone down in folklore. A night I probably remember far more than many mediocre meetings. Then there was my first sight of the innovative egg shaped track which has never been surpassed if it goes I'll have no reason to visit gods waiting room and I do enjoy a stroll along the prom to the bandstand for a bit of music. I hope someone like Buster takes it over and can build the place up but if not thanks for the memories.
  8. All true tho , well I can't comment on the crowd but the rest is spot on
  9. [ I stood near silver bee and at no point did he say the meeting was fixed. Thats an insult to 5 excellent Coventry riders quote name=Mr. S1" post="2511956" timestamp="1409864006]What a piss poor display from kings lynn . They should be ashamed of themselves. Not all of them to be fair So did I but I expected it to be by 20 If that was the biggest crowd of the season I'm amazed. Way down on my visit last year
  10. Well I really enjoyed tonight. All credit to the 5 Man Coventry team, fully deserved the win. rode with conviction and very obviously wanted it more than a couple of the Lynn riders. Had some great banter on the terraces. I don't blame KL for protesting, rules are rules. Having sId that the rules are bloody stupid when they stop a British rider from riding. For Lynn IMHO the reserves did all that was asked of them, as did Lambert & Porsing. As for the three so called heat leaders. Mmmmmm maybe enough said. on tonight's performance Lynn won't get a sniff of the final and I have a sneaky feeling C oven try will be champions providing they don't lose it off the track.
  11. Just seen trailer for local Coventry news showing massive queue. Thought it was candidates for reserve berth but apparently it's for the chase the ball thingy tomorrow at the Ricoh
  12. As there at least 20 Lynn fan coming will we outnumber the home fans.
  13. All this so Gemini can't print off her own programme Should we tell them she not going cos they changed the date
  14. Belle Vue site is showing Leicester on 8th and King's Lynn & Coventry tba, updated 2 days ago
  15. First this thread gets cluttered with football related crap and now it's Swindon related crap
  16. Maybe he is more used to riders chucking it down their throats
  17. Does seem daft but I'm sure I read it on another thread so wanted clarification. I also wondered if this meeting was being held back for Sky in the week before the cut off. I suppose Lynn will tell the fans at some point but their communications seem to have lapsed back to the days of carrier pigeons.
  18. Am I right in saying if this meeting isn't run before the cut off Lakeside are awarded the points?
  19. And it is now far too easy to not go to a meeting and instead get your "fix" on TV. True you might not get to see "your" team every week but after a couple of weeks the habit is broken. Result one more fan lost to the terraces. I've done it (for many different reasons) and to be honest haven't missed live speedway in the slightest. I look forward to my away trips but that's because they are now part of a mini break and not so weather dependent. If there were no Sky or Bet365 would I still go - if I'm honest I really don't know. It would appear that it's really only a problem if TV is involved! Clearly last year pressure was put on Belle Vue and last night pressure was put on both teams. I've said for years that when rider safety is an issue the decision should be made by secret rider ballot. Not difficult for a rider to put a cross on a piece of paper against yes or no, and to keep Sky happy they could have a count like in the General Election. That way the people that really matter, the ones putting their lives on the line, make the decision. No one knows who voted yes or no, unless it's unanimous or they choose to tell us and it avoids all the name calling, pressure and interference from Sky etc.
  20. I fail to see where it's a necessary evil. Speedway went for decades with no result until Heat 12. Teams had a reasonable chance to pull back a deficit and fans saw a reasonable percentage of a meeting. Where does fairness to fans come in? Oops silly me Precisely. It alienates the fans on the terraces, cos they feel short changed. Anyone watching on TV will think twice before getting out of their armchair and paying to watch 2/3 of a meeting, especially if any rain is forecast within 50 miles. Speedway is not cheap any more and value for money is very important to people nowadays.
  21. After all the mickey taking last night, and boy did I enjoy seeing Karma giving Dorset a visit A serious question - has Sky's involvement honestly been good for speedway? Crowds have gone down. Rules have been changed to suit them. Too many outside influences affecting decisions. TV audiences see empty terraces Former regulars now get their fix from TV (hold my hands up to that one) Debacles like last night are shown to the world - would you go as a newbie after seeing that on TV. Just asking.
  22. That's far too sensible. You should be ashamed of yourself
