From reading some tweets this morning I'd guess he was in a hotel in Poland but I could be wrong. I actually thought he came across rather well.

Tai Woffinden
Star Lady replied to David Haddock's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm more and more impressed by Tai. I admit I wasn't keen a few years back but the change this season has been amazing. His on track exploits are obvious but what's impressed me more is his off track activities. His charity bike ride - goes without saying. More amazing than anything has been the publicity he has generated on winning the title. He has got more column inches, mentions on TV and radio in less than a week that the BSPA have managed in a decade. OK he hasn't done it all personally but he has chosen his team well and they like him have performed. What's more he hasn't let them down, he has come across as a well-mannered, likeable, articulate, unassuming and caring young man. He'a a credit to his Mum and Dad. Well done Tai, thoroughly deserved . -
My only concern is the heat where he faces Hampel and 2 other Poles (Krispykarp & the notorious Miedinski) think it's heat 5. If he gets through that one unscathed I hope we can all start to relax. Come on Woffy!

This is pure speculation but could the "softer" landing of an air fence sub conciously lead to riders making moves they wouldn't have done in years gone by. I don't think for one moment that a rider thinks "if I crash I'll end up in the bouncy castle" but subconciously knowing the fence isn't solid etc might play a part in the split second they decide if there is enough room to squeeze past an opponent, with the result that there are more crashes. I think it's secondary to the bike changes but worth a thought.

And I'll post this for the third time and hope its third time lucky. I have asked on the disabled access thread but figure more folk would read this one. The website says good access for the disabled but does this mean using a designated area ore can you get to most parts of the terraces? Also it says food is available, can anyone tell me if it's just fast food/pub food/burgers etc, approx prices would be helpful too please. Thanks in advance. -

Welcome to the NHS, staff have to make judgement calls. As I understood it EOEAS gave an estimated arrival time of one hour, presumably because all available resources were deployed elsewhere possibly with life threatening cases possibly with idiots who use ambulances as free taxis!!!! Because the injuries, althought potentially serious were not life threatening, the medics in attendance presumably decided to use the resource that was on the scene in the best interests of the patient. Imagine the uproar if an EOEAS vehicle had attended which meant a cardiac patient had to wait and the worst happened. I haven't got a son Read my posts more carefully, I was not and still am not making excuses for anyone involved - Bridger, Kerr or Lambert. I was merely pointing out a fact as posted by an eye witness. -

Technically it was still an assault. As I said I'm not sticking up for anyone but some of the comments on here are laughable. It's a mans sport, ridden by men, some have had fewer birthdays than others and some have fewer brain cells than others. -

No I wasn't there but there clearly was an assault, one that nobody seems to have picked up on. Read the bit in bold. I'm not making excuses for Bridger or Kerr just pointing out an incident reported by someone who was an eye witness If Bridger hadn't been involved would this have even made 7 posts let alone 7 ruddy pages. -

You started a thread in the wrong section and he used twitter. Not exactly sure what point you are trying to make, but then many people have tried to fathom that out before!. Seems a reasonable account of what happened as he saw it. I'm sure some agreed with him and others didn't. Best wishes to Lewis Rose for a full and speedy recovery. -

Is there a stream for this and what time please. -
According to Hancocks Twitter the USA have been granted a wild card for the GP Challenge. If true either BSI are worried Hancock may not qualify as a right for next year and they won't be able to interest the USA in holding a GP or selling the TV rights or Mr Ford wants to put a few extra on the gate. Either way it's a farce and totally unfair to every rider that had the balls to enter the qualifying at the start of the season.

Enjoyed it. Like others I really liked the commentary team. No shouting, excitement when it occured not for the sake of it and as someone else said no brown nosing. Nicholls has a refreshingly fresh slant on a riders view and Steve Day after a shaky start is now settling into speedway, gaining confidence and becoming knowledgable without repeating himself. Good job, well done.

I wasn't there and this is no verdict on what happened but am I right in saying that Cook having been fined can now have no further action taken against him whereas others involved who were not disciplined can be. Seem to recall something like this in the past. -

I'm no equine expert but if you get them as yearlings you can at least train them to do things the correct way. Why can you still not see that we agree there are not the riders about at present. What the rest of us are advocating is that Middlo should have realised this years ago, when everyone else did and done something about it. -

Star Lady replied to skeletor's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So maybe if no one would do it, the BSPA or whoever would have listened to those that wanted a youth policy. Your post just suggests that Middlo does not have the courage of his apparent (according to Starman 2006) convictions. -

He is not my Mr Lyon, I merely used the courtesy title Mr for him as I did for Mr Middleditch in that post. Incidentally my glasses are untinted, my optician says tints are not too good for the eye. -

Star Lady replied to skeletor's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
OK I've quoted it in full now as you were too obtuse to realise that had Rob Lyon been allowed to continue he would have blooded the younger riders before this year therefore they would have had more experience and maybe we wouldn't have needed the binoculars or we may even have had a few more riders to choose from. But no the authorities didn't like the fact that he had an opinion they didn't like so went back to the safe pair of lips of Mr Middleditch. Now whilst I'm sure he is a very nice guy, as is Mr Lyon by the way, his record at international level is nothing short of abysmal. Club records count for nothing at this level and that applies to managers as well as riders. As others have said there are many club managers with excellent records of getting the most out of riders. There are also unproved managers who have proved they can get the best out of riders - Billy Hamill and Mark Lemon to name just 2. All I'm saying is it's time to dump the old guard - riders and management and give others the chance. If that means we have GB riders trailing at the back in some races will that be so very different to what happened this year? We are never going to agree cos I don't view the world thro brown coloured glasses, mine are untinted. -

Star Lady replied to skeletor's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If that is indeed the case maybe he should grow a pair and say it publicly and to the authorities. At least that way it might actually happen. But no he carries on not rocking the boat and nothing changes. -

Star Lady replied to skeletor's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not once have I read that Middlo has advocated a clear youth policy to bring on the development of riders to a better standard for international matches. At least Rob Lyon tried in stead of relying on riders that clearly were not of sufficient standard and frankly were never going to be. -
Not sure why anyone thinks the BSPA care about how Team GB do in the SWC. They are simply a group of businessmen/women who administer a sport to allow them to make the most profit they can. If the SWC resulted in them making extra profit they would perhaps finance the youngsters development thro test matches and tours etc. As it is, they don't make any extra so can see no merit in forking out for riders to gain experience. Why else didn't they not back Rob Lyon? They use foreigners because they think they will win matches and therefore increase the number of fans thro the gate, they don't give a toss about British riders. That's very short sighted in my view as fans identify far more with a local lad. Middlo is a safe bet for the BSPA, he doesn't rock the boat, makes the right noises when a mic is put under his nose and that's all the BSPA care about. When someone actually wants them to spend money or speaks out against the current non-system they turn the other way. I really can't see that changing.
