I remember Gundersen selling Tatum a dummy in 85, just moved his elbows slightly and KT was off. Sarge has been done a few times already this season. I dont get why Refs call starts back nowadays, if a rider gets away well, then so be it. If they dont, they stop, miss the gate completely or hit the tapes.

Coventry V Wolves Monday 9th May
Sir Jasper replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thanks, thats odd cos Bomber has been known to to get rid of a whole stockpile of engines ( which were seemingly going well) for a new load in the following season, I've often thought this has contributed to his slow starts to the season. I thought the same, perhaps it was due to the fact Andersen was working with him. He certainly seemed to get to the first corner a little bit quicker than usual, when he used it in SWC it seemed to hook up and drive better into the 1st corner. However he seemed to struggle slightly with speed later in the race. Possibly down to the way he corners or lines he was taking. if it did require him to "race" differently then perhaps its a bit too late in his career for him to change. -

The only thing I disagree with is the practice of cutting across a rider in midcorner, however I do realise that this is due to riders sliding off tactically if they are being taken out wide and getting the opponent excluded. ref being a 2nd string, thats due to the bizarre averages situation. Also he had a couple of bad years, on machinery which was obviously not fast enough. Now the machinery looks very quick, his confidence is coming back. Anyone know what Bomber is riding this year? -

I think its more to do with the fact that its the last season at Brandon, the stadium is looking tired and people are apathetic to it all now, add that to the feelings surrounding events of yesteryear with Sandhu in charge the sport in our city has gradually declined. -
As long as you can ride the "bomber" line Mick will snap you up!

Totally agreed, how they didnt learn from having a strong reserve over the last 2 seasons is beyond me. I would have thought that Horton would have at least discussed the team building with Havvy, actually if he did, and they still ended up with this team then we really have no hope. The worst of it is, they signed Jamrog last year, then were able to rectify that issue with signing JK, this year they let JK slip away and sign another unheard of Pole... Saying that, I have just remembered this quote, I do recall SCB ( I think) previously mentioning this but it shows how the team building went wrong when you consider this quote. “What impressed me about Danny last season was the way he learnt the track quickly in terms of the dirt on the outside. “I never thought we’d see that from him, I knew he was a racer but I didn’t think he’d be trying the ‘Bomber’ line - but he certainly did, and to good effect!" Thats akin to suggesting Bomber is lightening out of the starts!

He is a victim of circumstance, he was signed on a 5 point average, when we could have signed a rider up to around 7 points. However riders of that ilk were in sparse supply as we required them to not be a double upper. As for king, he is performaing exactly how he did while at heat leader last year, cant believe they let JK go. Although with the speed that his deal with Wolves was done suggests he didnt fancy hanging around for us.

Not at all, because of reserves are riding against top draft riders initially then are going to be racing against the likes of Klindt when they are replaced in the main body of the team by a high scoring draft rider. The damage was done by not convincing Garrity to do 4 meetings at reserve and then signing King as 3rd heatleader. By now Garrity would have been in the main team and Woryna or King would be at reserve... Its all the more bizarre they went down this route as last season they had the right idea when it came to team building, a strong reserve, a strong middle order...

The difference being North was signed off for a couple of meetings at the end of the season, Watt, who knows, I can see see why they got rid of him.

Kenny Bjerre would improve the team. Just have to make sure we sign a replacement if we get to the play offs.

Coventry V Poole El Friday 22nd April 2016

Poole to win by 10 - 12 points. -
You know when selling your Speedway Stars, do you request the correct money so you dont have to work out how much change you owe? As it is, SCB is correct, it is a farce, and be assured that this current Bees line up would still be poor whatever the race format is. The race format is the least of our worries.

Poole to win at a canter. -
As long as Rory pays his taxes and previous injuries were covered under the reciprocal agreement between Oz and the UK, then he can quite rightly complain about his care levels. I dare say his complaint was not directed at the nurses and Dr's who treated him but more at the facilities, and the stressful conditions they have to work in. I have to ask if this thread would have been started had it been an "english" rider who complained. However all the best to Rory, he has quite an "impressive" list of injuries, broken back on a couple of occassions, broken legs, pretty sure there was a wrist break or bones in the hand which required him to mod his throttle so he could twist it...

Was King on the heat leader ist, IR did we just sign him as a heat leader?

Indeed with Bates or Sargaent replacing him... Madness, absolute madness. As it turns out Woryna is better than I expected, again he would probably better with a stint at reserve... -

Which is the whole point of how its knackered up our team building, we could have had a strong reserve all season had Garrity signed up as an FTR rider. -
