  1. The main advantage would be that it would be illegal to stop a British Passport holder from riding. Surprised that hadn't occurred to you Kev Malcolm Vasey
  2. CarefulL Malcolm dont say anything wrong against the b s p a I am sure like everybody else I like to choose what I say not be provided with a quote that I didnt make. Anyway Canary Boy obviously made a mistake but I was writing my post when he posted his own comment. For what its worth I think the National League meeting should have been held before Christmas and I dont really know why it wasn't. I only offered suggestions. However, unlike you Mr BW Double I like to make informed opinions and not offer ridiculous suggestions like you have on another thread ie its ok to have Aussies and New Zealnaders because Major, Briggs and co rode for Great Britain in the sixties. The two eras are quite different and only British Passport holders should ride in our Third Tier League which is for development purposes. Malcolm Vasey
  3. I would point out that the previous post which purports to be a quote from me contains comments whuich I did not make. These are: Just read thorough a collection of "posts" and I'm sorry but I still cannot understand why EVERY time it comes to the National League AGM there is allways a problem/s and this starts EVERYONE having a "Swipe" at each other. At the end of the day we all support speedway, we all support NL speedway, so my message to those so called "men at the top", please get it sorted out !!!!. I did not make this commentr as suggested by Canary Boy and I would ask him to make his own comments not attribute his remarks to me by including them in a quote from me. Malcolm Vasey Mod Note: As canaryboy1, a new user, indicated above it was an innocent error. now sorted
  4. No date for the National League AGM has been released as far as I know. Although I am at Stoke and we are hoping to compete in the National League next season that has yet to be ratified by the other clubs although I would not expect a problem with that. Further I am not aware, other than by rumours, of who has declared that they will run next season nor what new teams are hoping to participate. Finally, I am not a Promoter any more and not in any position to do anything along these lines, which would be improper in any event and carry no weight with the BSPA even if such a meeting were to be organised. Whilst I share your sense of frustration at the present time there are other matters taking place in speedway of which I only have a limited knowledge which may well be inaccurate and I think we must remain patient until such time as the powers that be direct otherwise. I would like to see at least ten or a dozen teams in the National League and one thing that needs careful thought is the points limit which must be produced once the number of competing teams is known and not before. The more teams the lower the points limit and I would like the gap between stand alone Clubs and those primarily for development to be as close as possible. That way we will get close entertaining speedway. Malcolm Vasey
  5. oh right ho kev . I'll go back where I came from and you can listen to Nikko , no doubt the NL will continue to thrive as it has over the last few years , especially with such knowledgable people as yourself at the helm . What a particularly irrelevant and childish statement this is on the back of several previous poor comments from the same source. Let's keep the debate at a sensible level or say nothing. Malcolm Vasey
  6. I disagree Malcolm! The fish and chips at Rye House are superior and better value for money than those served up at West Row although I hope we'll see speedway back at Mildenhall next year as well as a strong and vibrant 3rd tier! Well I accept this difference of opinion and indeed I also accept that the Rye House fare is indeed good. However, I think by the width of a front tyre Mildenhall's Fish and Chipa and sausage and chips edge it on taste. All tracks who specilaise in using poor materials take note. I had an excellent Cheese Burger at Plymoputh the only time I ever had time to buy anything there as well. I will not shame the existing tracks where I have not enjoyed the food but I was never impressed at Wimbledon. Malcolm Vasey
  7. Come on Malcolm it's not that unusual for us to agree, its about 50/50 I think ! Compliments of the season to you, will you be bringing the potters down to West Row this season or do you have other plans for 20011 ? I hope that will be the case. We plan as good a team as the rules will allow for our supporters I always enjoy my times at West Row whether spectating or with a team. There is no fast food in speedway to match the chip stall. I sincerley hope that Mildenhall will return next season Malcolm Vasey
  8. Well for once I agree with Mr Postie totally even down to the suasage and chips. I hope speedway will return to West Row this coming season. I think that there is every chance that this will be the case. But everyone must support the new Promoter and help him or her in every possible way. Rome was not built in a day and there is a huge re-building job to be doen here. May I wish all of my friends at Mildenhall a Very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. For Postie Norwich to win at Palace we'd both like the mighty Canaries to do that. For Phil K hope you survive the onslaught from the mighty Trawler Boys which who think visit Bury tomorrow or soon anyway. For Halifax I still support a points limit reduction in the NL my beliefs could have kept your team alive last season. For Fen Tigers 666 I hope your team returns and that is for everybody who like me has worn a black and yellow scarf at some time with enormous pride. It has to be too good to lose Malcolm Vasey
  9. Arlo Bugeja has no British patriality and would require the same complex work permit that others now need. But I am not sure if any riders without a British passport can race in any event. Stoke will not start building a team ahead of nest week's meeting at Rugby Malcolm Vasey
  10. Sorry Ben my point, which I cannot prove to you because there never was what you claimed, is that your so called sound point was based on your imagination and had absolutely no basis in truth whatsoever. It was completely and utterly without foundation. Sorry Malcom Vasey
  11. I only know that what was written about Stoke is a complete fabrication. I was not at the AGM and it is the role of the BSPA Press Office or Pymouth themselves to make any statement they wish. I only comment that any decision made was nothing to do with Stoke and the unsubstatiated notion put forward by Rocket Ben is completely out of order. Malcolm Vasey
  12. I did not say either of these things but 700-800 is much closer than 75. I wonder how many different people attend during a season coul;d quite ealily be more than 2000. You assume that the same people tirn up every week and no-one else ever bothers. With your background you will know something about samnpling and this is an atypical sample being those with internet access and in a lot of cases those who's expressed views indicate that they are hostile to the promotion When I see a survey result from a sample that does not appear so unsatisfactory in terms af numbers and attitude, constructed after everyone has had time to digest the arguments, I will place more reliance upon it. It is also possible that several people from one household have voted and none of the usual sampling safeguards have been taken. Or did you forget the scientific appraoch? Malcolm Vasey
  13. I'd just like to put this in perspective with these details from the Potters Power Poll 33% will continue to go 45% will not be going 20.27% will go sometimes The poll is by 74 persons. Therefore at least 95% have not voted at all. I agree with VOG. This poll is misleading and exaggerated by big lad I presume to convice people. I suggest that the poll is meaningless unless 700 or 800 vote I understand some people are unhappy. I am unhappy and so is Dave Tattum. But National League is better than no League at all and no speedway at Loomer Road. Have a look at my first team at Scunthorpe in 2008 before injuries etc struck. The fans of Stoke deserve a succesful team and that's what we aim to have. None more so than me. Malcolm Vasey
  14. An incredibly short sighted post from you Semion given my record at Scunthorpe. In year two we had the three most exciting youngsters of the day in Saints colours and I was very pleased with the team assembled for last season before I left with Steve Worrall the last rider I ever signed at Scunthorpe one of the hottest one year prospects in speedway. In my view he is ready for the Premier League. And he is not the only one. No clash between Dave Tatum and myself. We have to start with a competitive team at least transitionally until we start to recruit our own youngsters and I feel confident that I can do that. Look at the Scunthorpe teams of the last three years. Scunthorpe now rich in young riders despite losing the 15 year olds last winter. So dont worry about us - the strategy is clear, the plans are already discussed and I look forward to it. It has to be better than no speedway at all for the Potters and we will do our utmost to rise again. I am gutted that our supporters are having to go through this phase but I am geared up to do my utmost on their behalf and for the CLub. Malcolm Vasey
  15. I would have thought a couple of hours a week would hardly be noticed so close to the main East of England railway line. Malcolm Vasey
  16. Well since they could not get a decent crowd at Carmarthen and with two teams at Newport already who would be attending? Malcolm Vasey
  17. What a peculiar post. Completely loses me. Perhaps that's not too difficult. Malcolm Vasey
  18. Once these particular credentials are in place there can surely be no reason why Henning, as a British citizen, cannot ride in the National League. I cannot imagine he would either return to Germany or pack his equipemnt up and be unable to ride before the season has ended either. I have come to know Henning Loof quite well over the last few months and endorse all that Sarah Lapworth has said in her posting. 100% trier thats for sure. I hope he is able to obtain a team place and I think he would be a superb asset to any NL side. Malcolm Vasey
  19. As in all Leagues the Play-Off system is useful in maintaining interest to the end of the season. If used correctly they can also bring exciting speedway, better crowds and much needed revenue. The Play off system in itself is not responsible for what you are complaining about. You are hanging the blame on Play Offs because you dont like them. The problems experienced at the end of this season are due to other reasons. These have also led to the late running of the NLRC and the ultimate abadonment of the Four Taem Championship. The problems with those events have nothing to do with play offs. There have been a lot of other problems and difficulties which I am not going to specify. But the reasons for the problems are the same and are not Play Off related. QED Malcolm Vasey
  20. Absolutely right I cant imagine for a moment that those advocating the use of past results have not worked out what that would produce. This a a play off Final not a retrospective paper exercise. Malcolm Vasey
  21. But they were eliminated from the Play-offs to decide the Champions. I has to be decided on one leg only if that is all that is held because of the weather. But the prgramme should have been complete by mid-October to ensure that there was a contingency date in my opinion. Malcolm Vasey
  22. I dont ever recall that happening retrospectively and couldn't surely for a Play Off Final. Certainly not as far as I rememeber in the third tier only when stated in advance has a match counted for League and CUp. (Mildenhall and Stoke for instance 1995) and others like that but not recently. Perhaps I have missed something Malcolm Vasey
  23. Arrangements have been confirmed that this event for the Staffordshire Cup will take place at Loomer Road on Saturday 23rd October 2010 at 7.30pm. Unfortunately, it is a now one off event following 6the rain-off at Monmore Green on Tuesday which will not be re-staged. All of the available Heathens' riders will be taking part supported by guests for the injured Tom Perry and also for Micky Dyer with Robert Bramford named as a replacement. Changes in the Stoke line up from Tuesday will also take place but a definite starter is former Potter Tony Atkin and there is a very strong Potters look about the teams with Lee Smart and Barrie Evans riding for Dudley and Jamie Pickard named for Stoke and other ex-Stoke riders also being considered. Stoke Promoter, Dave Tattum said "We plan to field a very competitive Stoke side to match the Heathens so both sets of supporters will have something to cheer. Of course it is also a final opportunity for Heathen's fans to see their team in action in 2010 and it is only 40 minutes up the road so we should all enjoy a great evening with the opportunity of looking at some young riders who could have a part to play in the future". The finalised teams will be announced as soon as possible. Malcolm Vasey
  24. It would appear to me from the above remark that we have common ground in a mutual dislike for all things Tory. This has to be a first but I am impressed with your comment Malcolm Vasey
