  1. I am aware of what it says in that book but I am virtually certain that is not the case in the third tier. There are a number of rules in the book from which you quote that do not apertain to the third tier. Perhaps Jayne knows the answer. Malcolm Vasey
  2. To the best of my knowledge and my long experience in the NL and CL, it is the Co-ordinator who oversees movements in the third tier. Previously transfers have not been allowed after the transfer deadline although you could always sign someone who was not in a 1-7. I can only think that this is why Brendan has been allowed to sign for Weymouth if he has been out of the IOW 1-7. Looking back at the Hopwood/Baseby situation, I think that Hopwood moved prior to the deadline especially since he rode 6 times for the Spitfires that season. Malcolm Vasey
  3. Certainly not by making newcomers who are mainly kids have to compete against the free for all influx of PL riders doubling down into the Development League which you advocate Simon. There are many riders without League places without bankrupting any more Clubs in a free for all. Malcolm Vasey
  4. Please make sure of your facts before making such a sweeping statement. Training takes place at least once a week at Stoke and not just doing laps without help. There are also opportunities at Northside (Workington) and Weymouth and Plymouth have also staged sessions. There amy well be others. Malcolm Vasey
  5. Yes but surely if the points limit was lower teams would not feel the need to recruit PL standard riders at inflated prices. There would also be a market amongst the riders and that would help keep wages demanded lower. The points limit has to come down for the League to survive. It has got out of hand and I am sure you realise that. Also less non-British riders only those who will ultimately ride for Great Britain in my view. There are stacks of riders in the various Amateur Meetings that would love to race regularly. Even with a points limit of 36 that is less than one heat leader replaced by a three pointer. Malcolm Vasey
  6. Well Ben you and I do not always see eye to eye on many issues but this time we are in total agreement. Had the points limit been lower last season then we would perhaps not have lost a club through running out of money and there would have been more quality between the teams. Several Promoters have expressed doubts to me about running next season with anything near to the present points limit. Malcolm Vasey
  7. As I recall Derek you have considerable knowledge of that event maybe even first hand knowledge? Malcolm Vasey
  8. Well done Kelvin and Sarah and I wish you the very best of luck and ultimate success in your project. After putting eight seasons into a similar project with Boston I know many of the difficulties that you could face but I believe that you have the strength of character to succeed. I hope that the local council at Tamworth are more receptive than the disgraceful lip servants that the bad burghers of Boston are who claim to be "For Local Sport". Only when they don't have to do anything to help it. Good Luck once again. Malcolm Vasey
  9. Amazing isn't it that such negative posts are the first from Edwradian He never had anything to say until today now he is into Scunthorpe's affairs like a corkscrew. And guess what he has no profile details whatsoever. No-one has done more for young riders in the last three years than Scunthorpe. Obne or two may have done about the same but no-one has done more. A poster best ignored I'd say. Malcolm Vasey
  10. I am saddened by this awful news but I do not wish to make any comment because it would be inappropriate and I understand very well how difficult it is to keep a speedway club afloat when the support dwindles and that was the case this season as could be witnessed clearly at the matches. However, I believe that Semion is on the right lines and a public meeting at the track might well have found 50 supporters willing to donate enough to top up whatever offer has been made. Indeed, I am astonished that this has not happened and even now it might not be too late. I am encouraged by Mr Coventry's remarks and I am sure he would allow the bar to be used so perhaps Dub, Nikko, Blayne, John Adams, the two businessmen etc could front this suggestion up with David Crane alerting the local press for a meeting asap.? Malcolm Vasey
  11. Technically Benny Boy none of this is to do with the Plymouth changes but Rye House stepping in to retrieve a young rider's career from the aftermath of said changes and therefore a slight adjunct to the topic. But I agree with your sentiments (don't faint) and believe Paul Starke's career will kick on now under the tutelage of Messrs Silver and Sampford. Good luck to him anyway, a rider of considerable burgeoning talent who could yet become a very good British rider. Malcolm Vasey
  12. You really are a complete comedian Benny babes. You sent it off topic and I followed up on your spurious comment. Malcolm Vasey
  13. I hadn't intended to use this forum to post again and I will be brief. What happened to your moral high ground stance about sticking to the rules and not attacking posters RocketBen1? Criticising someone's spelling in a crass side swiping way does exactly that in my opinion. And to think I had a post edited by a mod because I merely refuted the description of me wearing a Wolf Coat something I have never worn in my life. Oh well keep sticking to the rules as you falsely claim. Malcolm Vasey
  14. The above is also personal abuse as it happens but I accept your right to your opinion. I have only attempted to deal with two posters who frequently malign others but I accept that I was unpleasant. That's how they make me feel. But that's my last word on this subject. Malcolm Vasey
  15. Midnight Lady nothing that I said would be unrepeatable in front of a child let alone the use of the word a...hole. Please do not tar me with that particular brush thank you. Malcolm Vasey
  16. Your destructive comments are often excessive and uncalled for and you curry favour with others of similar disposition. You have a responsibility to moderate your comments but the words fair and reasonable are not contained in your vocabulary. The result is that few will take you seriously and I don't intend to waste any more time on you or your accolytes. Malcolm Vasey
  17. Well I am afraid I can't match that I've never had one! <Mod Note: Personal abuse removed> Malcolm Vasey
  18. I think we have all established your views and the way that you present them. Your comments are frequently insulting to various other posters but I do I agree that you use this tactic quite indiscriminately. I for one think that you feel yourself to be somewhat special and that you have some divine right to state your views regardless of the damaging and nasty statements that you present from time to time and this forum would be significantly improved if you were to cease posting. You should remember that when you make your frank derogatory remarks that very often the centre of your comment is a human being and not an object for your destructive cynicism. I hope you understand the meaning of my words and until such time as you find the ability to moderate your tone to a level that is generally acceptable and not full of your own self importance, from time to time people will let you know your shortcomings. As it happens you don't display too much soundness and clarity of thought in your views about the sport either which I would at rate no better than your inter personal skills at least those that you reserve for your arrogant postings on here. Malcolm Vasey
  19. Sorry Ben I just find your attitude inflexible and tedious. My offer of a face to face discussion stands just so that I can see if the arrogance that you display on here is for real. Perhaps in any event I wouldn't know, after all I'm just the Team Manager. Malcolm Vasey
  20. How flattering Ben. Do you think I would be at a Club where my views were not constantly sought by the boss as far as the team situation goes. If so you don't know me. Of course there are budgetary restraints but Dave and I have had what seems like a thousand conversations this month and you would not be able to dream about what and how those discussions went, our aspirations or anything else about us. And reading some of your comments on here I am left with the view that most of what you have to say is negative and depressing and like Najjer I don't expect you would respond to an invitation to have a face to face discussion. Not that such an event would be any more than that becuase I always ddo my best to be polite to everyone. But I would confine your remarks at present to the "Tyson Nelson Affair" that should keep you busy without having to worry how the Management Structure at Stoke is constructed and operates because you have demonstrated very clearly that you haven't a clue. Malcolm Vasey
  21. When it comes to bigotry you take some beating. Glass houses stones etc. Malcolm Vasey
  22. Clearly young man you have a lot to learn about respect something which is earned and that is never achieved by claiming to be in the know and making Scunthorpe sound in some way to blame for the events of last winter but remaining unwilling to divulge whatever it is that you think you know. Would have been far better for you to have said nothing unless you are prepared to put your money where your mouth is. Malcolm Vasey
  23. You clearly have no idea because there was no good reason as has been proved by what has happened. It is quite obvious not good to sign for a Club that has to rely on other Clubs to provide a team place when you nbeed all the track time that you can get. James is now left without a place something that would never have happened to him at Scunthorpe. Malcolm Vasey
  24. Exactly right Sarah but it has been said before and nothing ever happens corporately or otherwise. Malcolm Vasey
