I am very pleased to offer the following new books as detailed below. Christmas is coming and any of these would be a popular gift for a fan of National League Speedway. "The Ultimate Statistical Guide After 21 Years of Third Tier Speedway 1994-2014" This particular volume is meant to be a support tool for supporters of this level of speedway and the sport in general and complements the more narrative based annual histories that form the basis of most of my earlier books. The following are the main features of this statistical collection all covering the 21 years 1994-2014: COMPLETE A-Z OF EVERY RIDER WITH TEAM RACED FOR YEAR BY YEAR AVERAGES BY TEAM YEAR BY YEAR CMA AND 4 RACE AVERAGES (WITHOUT BONUS POINTS). THIS IS A LISTING OF ALMOST 800 RIDERS WITH INDIVIDUAL HONOURS ALSO PROVIDED AND COVERS MORE THAN 140 PAGES COMPLETE RECORD OF EVERY OFFICIAL THIRD TIER MATCH AND EVERY SCORER WITH SUPPLEMENTARY NOTES WHERE APPLICABLE ANNUAL SUMMARY AND RESULTS OF ALL MAJOR MEETINGS - IE FINALS, PLAY-OFFS, RIDERS CHAMPIONSHIPS ETC. RIDERS TOTAL APPEARANCE RECORDS ALL OFFICIAL GUEST RIDER RECORDS BRONZE HELMET MATCH RACE RECORDS RIDERS FINAL APPEARANCES THIRD TIER ALL TIME SEQUENCE RECORDS THIRD TIER LEAGUE TABLES COMPLETE ROLL OF HONOUR I would have thought this book to be of great interest to Supporters, Riders, Programme Collectors and Compilers and an invaluable aide memoire for Journalists as well as those interested in the sport's history and ongoing development. It has taken many weeks and months to compile and is the most comprehensive book I have ever produced. Copies of the entire series of books by Malcolm Vasey are still available. I was Team Manager of Boston Barracuda-Braves 2000-2007, Scunthorpe Saints in 2008 and 2009 and since then have been Team Manger of Stoke Potters. The book contains 394 A4 pages, is comb bound with laminated covers and will be despatched in a new padded envelope. This massive volume is offered at £24.99 plus a contribution of £2.00 towards postage charges. You can save the postage by collecting from me at a match - I am at all Stoke fixtures and often at Mildenhall or Kings Lynn and will be at the National League Riders' Championship this week but please let me know in advance if you want to collect at a track and save postage. I have also extracted separately the A-Z and the Official Match Record and these are advertised separately on the forum and are for those who only want part of the collection. Swift Saint replied to mickthemuppet's topic in National League Speedway
Our legal system is a joke and run by buffoons. Legal costs should never be allowed to exceed the actual award and the Justice Minister should give this his urgent attention now. The alleged £500,000 is totally disproportionate and looks like daylight robbery. Where is the Parliamentary Committee in all of this although I expect most of them, like the rest of Parliament, are legal practitioners of some sort. -

I don't suppose those lawyers who trundle on with these cases racking up enormous fees would be mindful that perhaps the property was bought as an investment since its value would increase greatly if the so called nuisance was removed. I thought that the Government intended to protect extant businesses which did not suit new neighbours after their arrival which is why I suggest that the Parliamentary Committee for Speedway can be of some practical use to the sport. It is clear to me that natural justice and sensible legal rulings have gone out of the window but if some events have gone on until 2.00 am that would seem to be irresponsible. Other than that I see no justification for the outcome and I sincerely hope that at some point this is overturned -

This matter represents total injustice. Is it not possible for the Parliamentary Committee which was set up last year for Speedway to pursue this matter in some way? Malcolm Vasey -

IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY CHRIS WIDMAN TAKES THE FINAL PLACE Stoke “Eazy Rider” Potters have completed their line up for the National League season by agreeing a deal with Kings Lynn to make Chris Widman a full asset of Stoke. “We are delighted to have completed an agreement with Kings Lynn which will bring Chris Widman to Stoke on a full transfer with the help of Kings Lynn Promoter Buster Chapman.” said Stoke Promoter Dave Tattum. “Chris rode for us last season and at times could beat anybody at Loomer Road and we look forward to having him with us again as part of the Club. We want to help him move his career on and we saw enough signs last season to know that there is relatively untapped pace and skill available within his racing repertoire and we are looking forward to the new season with the confidence that we can be challenging for honours.” added Tattum. Widman, who lives at Loughborough will be 25 in March and will ride at No.2 in the re-vamped team for 2015 the position he occupied last season. “I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for this move to go through, said Chris Widman and I am very glad that the arrangements have been finalised. I was always keen to ride for Stoke and have considerable empathy with what they are trying to achieve. The Promotion and supporters have been very good with me and I am looking forward with renewed zest for next season. I understand that I will partner our Captain Jon Armstrong and you can’t ask for better than that at this level.” Malcolm Vasey Stoke Speedway

I feel that we have an excellent team and one that we will be challenging for honours next season and I hope that supporters will want to follow the team we have managed to put together. IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY LOCAL LAD AT NO.8 FOR THE POTTERS Although Stoke “Eazy Rider” Potters still have one place to finalise in the main body of their 2015 team they have added Sandbach youngster Sam Ward to their squad as No.8 under the new regulations for the 2015 season. Sam, who is 17 has set his heart on a speedway career and has represented the Stoke “Spitfires” in the Midland Development League many times in the last two seasons during which time he also made appearances for Buxton in the National League. Despite this he is a young man who has always wished to be able to fulfil his ambitions in the sport at Stoke and it is this recognised loyalty to the Club that has advanced his case for inclusion albeit in a kind of apprentice role. Sam began his progress towards a career in speedway with a 125 cc machine when he was seven years old and is thrilled to take this step forward especially for the Potters. He was the Stoke mascot for several seasons before he was old enough to ride competitively. Stoke Team Manager Malcolm Vasey feels that Ward is on the verge of his dreams. “The lad made a lot of progress last season and is well kitted out with two machines and has brand new kevlars in readiness for the new season. He assures me that he will be spending time in the gym to raise his fitness levels and he has an excellent attitude and the determination to succeed in a very difficult sport. He Captained the Midland Development League side last season and will continue in that capacity in 2015. It is always good to have local riders in a team and in the course of history many such men have worn the Potters colours with distinction. Sam has earned the opportunity to follow in their footsteps and I wish him the best of luck.” added Vasey. “I am very pleased about this and I really hope to grab any opportunities that come along and score points. I know I still have many things to learn but this gives me that chance.” said Sam Ward. Sam works part time at Sandbach Services and is studying Computer Controlled Engineering at college and is fully aware of the busy times that lie ahead as his career develops further. Malcolm Vasey apologised for the delay in completing the 1-7 for Stoke in 2015. “It’s all but fixed now and I hope that we can make an announcement in a few days.” he said. IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY SHAUN TEDHAM RETURNS WITH A VOW Stoke ‘Easy Rider’ Potters’ have re-signed the “Scouser with a Mission” Shaun Tedham on his three point National League average and the quick witted friendly Liverpudlian is ready to take the National League by storm. “I wanted this so badly I am thrilled to bits indeed I was hanging on after several other offers because Stoke is where I wanted to be. he said with some feeling. “I’m the first to admit last time it didn’t go quite right but that’s in the past and I am devoted to helping the Potters do well next season. I am over the moon and back again about this and the speedway world will see a new Shaun Tedham.” he said. Tedham suffered last season due to the rules preventing two riders over thirty competing in the same side but these have been relaxed and at thirty four Tedham has the energy of a Liverpool spring chicken and intends to bring the points home to roost at Loomer Road. Despite his limited competitive speedway he averaged ten points per match for Milton Keynes in the Midland Development League last season and appears to be a sound signing as Stoke grapple with the contracted points limit to give the best chance of forming an effective unit. “Shaun is a great lad in so many ways and has bounced back with a vengeance. said Team Manager Malcolm Vasey. “He is effervescent in his approach and I never met a man more keen to ride for Stoke or any other team I have been at and as three pointer he will take many scalps in heat two next season and will help us spring back to the force that we have been at this level in the past. I look at the team and I see I see only riders on a mission. No Prima Donnas, an honest team with the capacity to improve.” Added Vasey. “We have one space to fill now, said Promoter Dave Tattum “Anybody can guess who that is we are waiting for formalities to be completed in that case and hope it will be sorted shortly after Christmas. he said. “We have a certain confidence in this team every single one is an out and out team man the will complement each other and we hope to go places. said Tattum. IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY LEE PAYNE BACK AT LOOMER ROADANDRYAN MACDONALD GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY Stoke ‘Easy Rider’ Potters’ Christmas presents to their followers sees a welcome return for his third season with the Club for Lee Payne the Lancastrian former moto crosser who has made such amazing steps in his speedway career since he first donned a Potter’s race jacket in 2013. “We are delighted to have Lee back said Stoke Promoter Dave Tattum speaking about the one bright product of 2013 who was also very effective in 2014 when he took his average beyond seven points which represents significant progress for a second year rider. Lee was also a Fast Track rider in the Elite League last season and hopes that he will get further opportunities in this direction during 2015. Lee Payne was very happy to be back at Loomer Road pointing out “It is difficult to imagine riding anywhere else in the National League. This will be my third season at Stoke and I aim to improve my average further. I am fit now my shoulder has been treated and I am ready to go again.” said Payne. At the same time the Club announced that Ryan MacDonald, a twenty year old Scottish rider from the Glasgow area would occupy one of the reserve positions in next years team. Ryan was delighted to accept a position in the Stoke team and vowed to do his best to justify his selection. “I can’t wait said the trainee motor mechanic ready to move on to the next rung of the speedway ladder “I rode for Scunthorpe last season but they are not in the National League for 2015 so I am really happy to join some riders I know and others that are new to me at Stoke. This is a great opportunity and I intend to make the most of it.” he said “We are delighted with these two captures and are so pleased that both of them are anxious to be practicing at Loomer Road as soon as possible. That seems to be par for the course with the 2015 season team. said Team Manager Malcolm Vasey. “We know exactly where we are going with the team and looking at those other teams already announced I expect us to be highly competitive with a team that can only improve such is their spirit and determination. I have rarely spoken to riders with more enthusiasm to do well and be so happy to come to Stoke. said Vasey. “Of course last season our track was very good throughout once we got over the initial problems and riders have expressed to me that was important in their decision. I have to say there were other venues which provided very challenging conditions at times and clearly riders have remembered that in choosing their career path. The revised points limit has undoubtedly created opportunities for less experienced riders and these will quickly improve with regular racing. “The points limit has cut things a bit tighter offering opportunities for the best of the riders trying to break into the sport and in terms of the sports progression in Great Britain this is an excellent feature that emanated from the National League AGM. said Dave Tattum “A lot of useful work is being done with riders Under 15 and the changes for the coming season have created an exciting equalisation of National League teams and at the same provided the start of a clearly recognisable career path that will ultimately yield good British riders at the International level a year or two down the line. Further re-structuring at a higher level has taken place through the fast Track System and soon this needs to find it's way into the Premier League.” added Tattum Malcolm Vasey Stoke Speedway

IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY POTTERS SIGN TWO NEW FACES AS THINGS MOVE FAST Stoke ‘Eazy Rider’ Potters have secured the services of two newcomers to the Club for 2015 with breath taking speed as discussions continue with other possible newcomers and some of the riders who raced for the Club in 2014. “There is nothing like fresh faces to renew interest and we have landed two of the most promising riders on the National League scene. said Promoter Dave Tattum. “ I am delighted with the progress that we have been able to make and although there will be disappointments as I am sure that some of last season’s riders will not be returning we have had to have a crash course of dividing seven into thirty six due to the amended points limit. “It’s no easy matter and Malcolm (Vasey) and I have been burning the midnight oil to ensure that Stoke will be able to make a challenge next season and we are pleased with our results.” He added. The two riders in question are the very promising but relatively inexperienced Danny Phillips and Ryan Terry-Daley who rode for Cradley and Coventry respectively in 2014. Ryan Terry-Daley is twenty and last season averaged close to 5.00 for Coventry Storm and he has been riding in the UK for the past three seasons the first two gaining experience and then last season as a member of the successful Coventry team. He is aged twenty and showed considerable progress at Brandon. He is currently in New Zealand but returns to his base in Coventry at the end of next month. He is enthusiastic about a move to Stoke where he feels the practice opportunities and facilities will help sharpen him in readiness for National League racing. Danny Phillips, who is aged eighteen, is from the Teeside area and was much sought after last season before signing for Cradley Heath where he has been left without a team place as the League Champions have to shed a massive number of points to comply with the new regulations. A trainee motor mechanic by trade he first rode for Scunthorpe in 2012 and then took a year to hone his skills racing as a guest declining offers to race permanently until he felt ready and consequently was much sought after in 2014 when he was handed a place in the Cradley team. He is pleased to come to Stoke where he finds the track good to ride as he continues to develop his career and take further steps towards achieving his goal to reach the top in the sport. “These are very ambitious lads who want to ride for the Potters the initial contact in both cases came from them and we are pleased to have them with us.” said Team Manager Malcolm Vasey. “To be honest I was very surprised that either of them was available and I am delighted that we have secured their services. This shows the impact of the 36 point limit and the opportunities created for rookies at the reserve end of teams allowing riders of a little more experience to improve their knowledge in a new environment. I am sure that these two riders will endear themselves to the Stoke public who are always welcoming to newcomers. I found both of them engaging and well spoken and I was most impressed with them and their off track style. They will be great assets to us in 2015 and all out racers in the red and white. They join our Captain Jon Armstrong on our roster for 2015” added Vasey. “We have made numerous enquiries and held discussions with a lot of riders since Tuesday and I am sure our team will be complete by Christmas. We have identified the rest of the team subject to reaching agreement with those concerned. said Dave Tattum. “We are determined that next season will be exciting and the lads we have signed are racing for their futures in the sport and that can only add to the excitement and entertainment at Loomer Road.”

IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY 2015 SEASON STARTS HERE The last three weeks have been remarkable in the chequered history of Stoke Speedway. They have seen mindless vandals wreak havoc on their Loomer Road Stadium which caused tremendous consternation to the Promotion and the amazing actions of some incredible people have helped point the way forward and although reparations are far from complete in all respects the Club have felt able to declare their intent to run in the National League in 2015 and to start building a side to represent the “Eazy Rider” Potters in what will be beyond doubt a highly competitive and hard fought League. Promoter Dave Tattum was unabashedly close to an emotional response yesterday when he said “Quite honestly although we have worked very hard internally it is members of the public that have come forward and saved this Club and for that I will be eternally grateful. Some of those providing help and support are old friends and supporters that have followed us over the years but others were not known to me at the start and I could never thank them enough for the efforts that they continue to make in bringing us to the point where we are able to declare that we will run next season. The Stock Car world has also stood by us in our hour of need and been enormously helpful in the dreadful situation that we faced. Stock Car Promoter Steve Rees has always said how important the track condition is and has assured us of his support to maintain recent standards. Speedway is not an easy sport to manage when times are hard but the staggering response that is ongoing on our behalf has rekindled my enthusiasm for the sport and lifted me from the most depressing days immediately after the destructive vandalism and sheer human filth that we had to face after the incident. Once again on behalf of all at Loomer Road past present and future I thank those wonderful people most sincerely.” he said. Looking forward to the new season Tattum said “I am delighted to announce that Jon Armstrong will lead the new side and will also be our Club Captain. Jon is a massive part of what we are trying to achieve at Stoke, he is an immense man in all respects leading from the front and always mindful of his own riders and equally those of other teams if they should suffer the misfortune of injury during a match, and he is known throughout the sport for the absolute genuine person that he is. He has told me that he leads the team with pride and this is demonstrated every time he takes to the track, I welcome him back with open arms and the new 36.00 points limit that has been set by the League will almost certainly see Jon ride at No.1 in a re-vamped side. I am in discussions together with Team Manager Malcolm Vasey with a number of riders and expect more news for our supporters in the coming days. These discussions have already stretched geographically all over the United Kingdom and as far away as New Zealand as we attempt to put together a highly competitive team in red and white for next season. “Tattum went on to say “The entertainment on track at Loomer Road last season was of a remarkably high standard due in part to the vast amount of track work carried out in the wake of the rains of last winter. The track will be the same next season and I hope that the public who have demonstrated their affection for the Club will really get behind us and share in what they have helped to provide. I have been in this sport for a long time, we have had our ups and downs, but let’s build bridges now and see where they lead us to. We have plenty of ambition at Stoke but we need support to carry that forward. Come in droves and make it a carnival every week at Loomer Road”

I was thinking of my own Club we could switch a home match to a Sunday sometimes and do that even to help other Clubs. I am not advocating mass delay with fixtures far from it just switching by a day perhaps many teams are stuck with a set day of the week and have to get on with it. So many people are saying that there are far too many guests they want their own team it is impacting on attendances and it is impacting on our credibility especially when we say so often that riders are in three teams etc. Its not acceptable on the present scale something has to be done at all; levels. Newcomers to our sport must think we are like all in wrestling when we make such statements. Malcolm Vasey

I doesn't have to be close to the start of the season but it is essential that it is related to the number of teams in the League and the more there are at this level the lower the points limit must be so that the best riders are shared around between the teams as far as is possible. Therefore it cannot be formulated prior to the commitment of Clubs to compete at National league level for the 2015 season. If there are to be 12 teams in the National League next season I would suggest that given the shortage of top riders the points limit can safely be reduced to around 35 or 36 points. We must also remember that riders' averages are slightly inflated on previous years due to the fact that there were some exceptionally low averaged opponents in the League last season. I don't wish to comment on the rights and wrongs of that but I think for the sake of evenness of teams there should be a lower limit that all teams must reach at the start of the season about five points perhaps less then the actual points limit. We are in the entertainment business and sides racking up over seventy points is rarely exciting. Last year there was considerable upheaval at this level because of the Fast Track system which is an important rider development tool and should continue but some attempt needs to be made to minimise the effect on Clubs who's core business is the National League otherwise the support will diminish further. This can be done perhaps by Elite teams having a Fast Track Squad of three riders and also by the National League Clubs perhaps dodging fixture clashes by changing dates of matches whenever possible. We have to give the public there own team at all levels whenever possible many people say to me that the excess of guests and riders doubling up and down is spoiling the sport's appeal as everyone rides for everyone else. I think they have a point. Malcolm Vasey

PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY Stoke “Eazy Rider” Potters have qualified for the final of Speedway’s National Trophy. This was confirmed at Sittingbourne last night when Kent’s victory over Leicester ensured a safe passage to the Final for the Staffordshire Club. It is a just reward for the Potters who finish joint top of the National Trophy Table with the team that they will meet in the Final - the redoubtable Mildenhall Fen Tigers. It will evoke memories of two great Knockout Cup matches in 2011 when the teams met in the final the honours going to Suffolk on that occasion. The Potters are still in the Knockout Cup having reached the semi-final where they face Kings Lynn Young Stars in a two leg clash. Stoke’s success has swiftly changed their remaining fixture arrangements the new details are listed below: Wednesday 17th September Kings Lynn (Away) Knockout Cup Semi Final First Leg (7.30 pm) Saturday 20th September Mildenhall (Home) National Trophy Final First Leg (7.00 pm) Sunday 21st September Mildenhall (Away) National Trophy Final Second Leg (3.30 pm) Saturday 27th September Kings Lynn (Home) Knockout Cup Semi Final Second Leg (7.00 pm) Commenting on the Team’s success Promoter Dave Tattum said “We had expected to qualify but had Leicester managed a big win against Kent we could have been ousted but I am delighted for our supporters that we have reached this National Final and we are developing a strategy to win it. I would like to congratulate the riders too who rode so well to win at Kent themselves in dreadful wet conditions to win and really deserve this crack at the Trophy Play-Off Final. Team Manager Malcolm Vasey was looking beyond the National Trophy “We must sharpen up and beat Kings Lynn in the Cup and provide ourselves with a Midlands Derby Final against either Cradley or Coventry who stage their semi-final first leg tonight. They are both great teams and we proved that we can match them with our narrow victory over Coventry Storm on Sunday evening and what a humdinger that was” he said. So the Potters enter the final stages of the season with the Pairs Championship already won and two further opportunities of silverware ahead of them. They are looking to their loyal supporters to get behind them aware that the hand of history could just be reaching out to them.

URGENT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY BEN WILSON RETURNS TO SHEFFIELD Stoke Potters have been rocked by the news that Ben Wilson, who has been such a successful part of the Potters’ revival in 2014, has been recalled to ride in the Premier League by his parent Club Sheffield. Whilst this is a very clear indication of the way that Wilson has ridden for Stoke this season the existing doubling up rules do not allow him to ride for Stoke as well as Sheffield and Stoke have been forced to mount an extensive search for an appropriate replacement. “We are devastated and disappointed, said Stoke Promoter Dave Tattum having been assured by Ben that he would be at Stoke for a full season. Never the less he has served us very well and it would be churlish not to wish him the best of luck and thank him for his services although the situation leaves us with the acute problem of finding a replacement. We have launched a search for a replacement and hope that will prove fruitful. In the meantime we have been given a 28 day facility to cover for him initially using Rider Replacement and with the strength and form of the rest of the team it is certainly a help. added Tattum. The Potters are at home to Kings Lynn on Saturday evening (7.00 pm) and are hoping to receive medical clearance from the Speedway Control Bureau to include James McBain at reserve after the injuries he suffered six weeks ago. “James feels more than ready to return and that will provide us with a big boost in the present circumstances. said Stoke Team Manager Malcolm Vasey. We need every point that we can get against Kings Lynn to make sure we remain in contention for the Play-Offs and James presence in the team would be a massive help. Malcolm Vasey Stoke Speedway

URGENT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY Stoke v Kent With three successive victories behind them the Stoke Potters take on the Kent Kings at Loomer Road tonight (Saturday 7.00pm) hoping to reach the National League Cup semi final as the prize for their efforts. The much publicised rain has come and gone ahead of schedule and the track looks in good shape with Stoke ten points ahead from the First Leg and desperately keen to reward their improved support with another win. Stoke are unchanged since last week’s match against Scunthorpe with Adam, Kirby continuing to deputise for James McBain. He anticipates being fit to return when Kings Lynn are the visitors in two weeks time but Kirby has proved to be a capable deputy and the Club have appreciated his presence during McBain’s recuperation. Kent have had a reasonable season so far but have strengthened their line up for this fixture including Benji Compton who returns from injury taking the place of former Stoke rider Luke Chessell who looks likely to join Plymouth. Compton rides the Loomer Road track well and will provide good opposition in the middle order of the Kent side. The winners tonight will face Kings Lynn in the semi final who curiously are at Loomer Road next (19th July) in a National League match. Teams: Stoke: Jon Armstrong, Chris Widman, Ben Hopwood, Lee Payne, Ben Wilson, Rob Shuttleworth, Adam Kirby. Kent: Ben Morley, Scott Campos (Guest for Aaron Baseby)), David Mason, Benji Compton, Simon Lambert (Rider Replacement), Jason Garrad, Danny Ayres. Ben Morley won the Bronze Helmet against Mark Owen of Kings Lynn on Monday and makes a mandatory defence against the best of the Potters tonight. The match is followed by a Midland Development League fixture between Stoke Spitfires and Coventry Mercia Vikings. Malcolm Vasey Stoke Speedway

Stoke Potters V Scunthorpe Stags 28/6
Swift Saint replied to Great Central's topic in National League Speedway
URGENT PRESS RELEASE FROM STOKE SPEEDWAY Stoke v Scunthorpe After their ten point victory over Kent at Sittingbourne on Monday the Stoke Potters are confident that they can go three matches unbeaten with a victory over Scunthorpe at Loomer Road (7.00pm) this evening. The Potters have named an unchanged team with Adam Kirby continuing to deputise for James McBain although the Scotsman is expected to be fit to return next weekend. Kirby has proved an admirable stand in and at Kent in particular he weighed in with an invaluable seven points that helped turn the match Stoke’s way. Having said that all of the Potter’s rode well and are the only visiting team to have won in Kent this season and they have achieved it on two separate occasions. Scunthorpe have placed an emphasis on youth this season and it will be interesting to see how their team can shape up to the Potters. Any rain is expected to clear the area by early afternoon which should ensure a perfect racing strip for this evening. Teams: Stoke Jon Armstrong, Chris Widman, Ben Hopwood, Lee Payne, Ben Wilson, Rob Shuttleworth, Adam Kirby Scunthorpe Steve Jones, Arron Mogridge, Danno Verge, Ryan MacDonald, Sam Chapman, Liam Sanderson, Reece Downes Stoke Team Manager Malcolm Vasey said “I feel very confident that we will win this match and move into the National League Play-Off positions with matches in hand. We have put our defeat against Cradley behind us and are moving forward. Next week we hope to finish the job against Kent and then we will face Kings Lynn in the semi final of the Cup. We arte doing well on all fronts and the improved support this season has been helpful.” -
STOKE TAKE ON LEICESTER IN PIVOTAL FIXTURE Stoke Potters have no easy task in front of them at Loomer Road on Sunday afternoon (3.00 pm) when they face the Leicester Lion Cubs in a crucial National Trophy match that could ensure their progression to the two leg final. That may or may not be determined tomorrow but if Stoke win, their position in the Trophy Table will be virtually unassailable with a victory over the team that are currently their nearest challengers. Stoke hope to resume where they left off before their defeat at Monmore Green on Tuesday when Cradley Heathens proved too strong for the Potters who gave it their all against a team in top form on their own track. “The boys are determined to do well in this one but Leicester have assembled a very useful side for this competition and we will have to work very hard to make sure that we win it” said Team Manager Malcolm Vasey. “There will undoubtedly be some mouth watering racing on our very much improved surface and the fans from both clubs can expect a top battle with a Final at stake” he added. Reflecting on their first League defeat against Cradley Vasey was adamant that the team would respond with renewed vigour. “We lost to a brilliant performance from Cradley and I doubt any team in the National League will get anything from their visit to Monmore. Over the course of a season many things can happen in Speedway and that was one battle lost with a war left to win. We are onto that starting on Sunday”. Stoke: Ben Wilson, Chris Widman, Ben Hopwood, Lee Payne, Jon Armstrong (Captain), Rob Shuttleworth, Adam Kirby. Leicester: Oliver Greenwood, Dan Greenwood, Max Clegg, Tom Perry (Captain), James Sarjeant, Sam Chapman, Tom Woolley Stoke will be unchanged for the Knockout Cup First Leg match against Kent on Monday (6.30 pm)
