In this league I think he will do well. The other ting that Simon will bring is his experience and knowledge to the younger members of the team, and he is a character that will do this. I thin that he will be especially good for the likes of Joe Haines. I hope as well that Simon brings along his Old Man Trevor, he has been known to help other riders out if they are struggling. The one thing that I am hoping and that I think Simon will instil to the team, is team spirit, something that was definitely lacking last season, when they looked like a bunch of individual's no one seemed to bond together.

I think that the first three signings gave a great deal of optimism. Joe Haines, was one of the bright things about last season, the lad appears to be getting his career back on the straight and narrow, and I was glad that he had repaid the club in having faith and patience by signing on for another season. Next up. Damien Koppe, a rider who I have followed for about 3 to 4 seasons and he is a decent rider, people will say never heard of the guy, but who had heard of Hugh Skidmore when he came into the side and he did alright.. Then the big one. Simon Stead, just what the doctor order, a quality signing and the feeling was that the Promotion really do mean business. Followed by Jake Knight, well if we have the powerful number 1 you are going have to go with the youthful inexperienced reserve, okay Jake was not the fans first choice but the Promotion did say last season that they were looking at the lad and wanted give him a chance and lad appears to be up for it and wants it. The team is now taking shape and the remaining three places we are basically looking for two heatleaders and a solid second string. And the next name to mentioned is, and this a rider that will be riding as a heatleader. Richard Hall, who averaged 8.38 at home and 5.08 away, does not sound very solid to me. Yes he goes well around Sheffield and yes he can be very good to watch around Sheffield, but he is not what we are looking for in this team. Of course we are told Richard has been told he must improve his away form, and Richard is determined to do that, funny I remember reading that when the club signed him up for 2010, he did not do it then and I don't see him doing it now. So if the Promotion do decide to go with Richard, and I think now that they will, the next two signings will have to be really good signings.

The other thing about Bellego is his machinery, saw him have a few engine problems. But he is a talent.
-
Well if I am been optimistic, then I would say it only says likely. But I guess what that really means is he is back. It says he has been told improve his away form. That could mean he will be dropped if he does not. But what it really means is Richard Hall will again ride at number 4, have three or four decent rides and 1 poor race. Oh Well/ .

You will find the Sheffield support is split down the middle regarding Richard, some want him back because he is entertaining, others don't simply because his away form is so poor. Me I fall into the latter category, I just don't think he brings to the team what we need and generally he has at least one poor race in a home meeting that lets him down.

Skidmore is very good around the STMP, the last three season's his average around there has been 7.37.

Anyone from Somerset want to send a cheque to me not to tip Somerset for the title. Even with only 6 riders announced I think this team is the best so far and they could be the team to beat next season. Aonther excellent team put together by the Somerset Promotion.. I reckon either him or maybe Joe Jacobs. -

Could it be a last minute hitch. -
I think that Wells has far more potential and lower average than Harrison. Not disappointed I just thought he was going to Workington.
-
No Ricky Wells then, surprised.

Great wanted him at Sheffield. -
To be fair to you there are quite a few points that you make that, but the problem is that you only seem to come on here when you seek the opportunity to be negative and it seems to be a bit of a mission for you. But there are some good points that you make. I think that everybody knows that Jake Knight does represent a gamble and I would maybe label him as a bit suspect, but lets see how he goes. Koppe I think will be better than what people think, I have followed his career closely since the Darren and Sharon Boocock Academy over in Aussie and he has rode well against those riders, and I don't think he ancient at 24, not as young as most of the Aussies that come I will accept, but still young enough. The one that really concerns me is the alleged signing of the Argentinian, which is for me a massive gamble and I would have preferred the promotion to have gone for some one else. If that is the team with two signings to go it leaves us with 14.88 left for the last two riders, there are some quality riders out there that we could bring in that could do a job at 2nd and 3rd heatleader. But I certainly hope that one of those is not Richard Hall under any circumstances and it has to be riders that are capable of scoring decent points home and away.

Okay think we will be going around in circles with this one. Lets agree to disagree.
-
Okay fair enough I was a bit harsh, but if you make statements like; And how ever you try and interpret the statement, Joe Haines will not be the only rider returning from last year....WE ARE GOING TO GET HALL! Then to me that means that you are suggesting that you know something that the rest of us don't know. That is not an opinion that telling people you know something for a fact. End of the day I don't who those three signings are going to be and I suspect neither do you.
-
Well you could never say that Nepotism rules in our household.

Never known a thread move so quick down to one signing. Okay not the 3 point rider that I would have gone for myself, would have been Nielsen or Jacobs for me. But there was a clue last season that this could happen, and towards the end of last season both myself, Squall and SKJ all said that Jake could well be in the side for this season, so in a way I am not surprised to see him given a chance, and that what we have to do is give the lad a chance. Nice to see the usual suspects coming out as soon as there is a signing that appears to be a bit suspect. Friddy 75 who know every signing that the Promotion is going to make, seems to have all the inside knowledge on who is going to sign and who is not going to sign for Sheffield, maybe they can introduce me to who they get their information from. Maybe Friddy is right but I am prepared to wait and see who the next three signings are and then I will make some sort of judgement on the team and how it will progress. .

Welcome to Sheffield Mr Jake Knight. ; Interestingly it says on the Website that Jake joins new signings Simon Stead, Damien Koppe and the only surviving rider from the 2012 Sheffield team Joe Haines. Could this mean that the next three signings are new to the Sheffield team. The plot thickens.
-
I suppose Sheffield will be favourites to have signed him as he did do some meetings at number 8 for Sheffield.
-
I would add that will excite the fans as well. There is still riders out there, and plenty to go at, will be interesting to see who they bring in, of last seasons team I think we may see one from last season but I suspect that it will be virtually a new team

Who me Never

I think we should Wait and see what the Promotion come up with.,

I think collectively you won't see much put on their averages. Steady will probably average around his figure. I think Joe could make a slight improvement. Cannot see Damien Koppe maintaining that figure. Two ways that they can go is making a team that will allow Koppe to start at reserve, but that would give us a weaker heatleaders or go for Sticking a 3 point rider and a strong reserve near a 5 point average that could eventually allow Koppe to drop to reserve and have a stronger heatleaders. I think that I would favour the latter.
