I am no legal eagle, but would not the fact that Hans Andersen had a signed contract where as it appears that Nick Morris does not make it a totally different matter. I think the big question is did Nick actually sign a contract, Rosco's statement reads that he did not only that they had an agreement. Yes he is and I would say that over the last 15 years Sheffield has had a representative on the MC. Over that time we have to knowledge not used that fact to gain an advantage, maybe you can point this out to me.

Of course we know that basically Nick Morris has fallen into our laps. But if you go back to my post way back on this thread posted on the 24th December I think you find it is post number 354. On that post I copied and pasted a statement from Nick Morris's Facebook page, which said the following; "Big news coming gonna be some upset speedway fans but have to do what's best for myself." That would suggest there was problems for Nick regarding where he was going to be riding and who he was going to be riding for. Its blindingly obvious that Premier League racing featured heavily in his plans, and at that time he had two options Peterborough and Sheffield, and it soon became clear that Peterborough had no plans to consider the lad. That left Sheffield. What was the lads options? Stick to his Elite commitments and wait for Premier League to come in. All well good doing that but with an average of 8.94 he could have been waiting sometime to get the chance, and it would have to be one that fitted.with his Swindon commitments. Did Sheffield tap him up? Well the consortium did not take over the club till the 31st December, so I cannot understand if Nick put the statement out and the consortium took over well after that how could they have tapped up the lad. My guess is that Nick has told the Swindon Promotion that he wanted to join Sheffield for a Premier League gig Swindon have tried to call his bluff and told him he wants to ride for Sheffield in the Premier League he should put in a transfer request. In return Nick has called Swindon bluff by doing just that.. End of the day I think what will happen is that when all the dust has settled is Nick will ride for Sheffield and remain a Swindon asset, Sheffield probably pay a transfer fee to Swindon for Simon Stead. I f Swindon persist insisting on transfer fee then I think we could see the whole speedway assets issue been blown out of the water, which in a way might not be a bad idea as it is out dated and I wonder if it could be illegal, and in the long run some clubs along with Swindon could finish up losing out big style. End of the day this would never have happened had Somerset/ BSPA depends on what side of the fence you are sitting on is to blame as this is a knock on from that situation.

Top post Richard, Like I say it was only the last couple weeks before we changed the team that Damien really started to pick up, before that Jake was out scoring him and his average was better. The one thing never lack was the effort he put into his racing for Sheffield and fans will always appreciate a rider who does his best. I wiish the lad all the best for the future.

No doubt that Richard Hall has featured in some of the best races at Owlerton. But for every great race at home he produce a poor one. And frankly away he is just not good enough. He promised so much, he was given the chance to prove himself, and unfortunately he never managed to deliver. He has had his chance, over and over again and its now not only time for the club to move but Richard himself. . Too be fair when put those teams together I was struggling to think of 3 point reserve to put into the team, and Jake Knight was a name that I could only think of at the time. And to be fair it was only in the last couple of weeks before Sheffield made the changes that Jake would have been the one to stay in the team with Damien Koppe making way.

I can understand Swindon fans and Promotion been upset by the Nick Morris revelation. Nick would have made his plans and those plans obviously meant riding in both leagues in the UK. And that was sorted when he signed for both Swindon and Somerset. But the rug was pull right from under him when Somerset decided to drop him. Lets not forget that if Somerset had not dropped him he would still have been at Swindon. When he was dropped by Somerset his Premier League options were very limited Peterborough or Sheffield. The options for Elite League were not great but were a little bit better. Eventually his only option was for Premier League, is Sheffield. You cannot blame Sheffield for going for the rider. End of the day lets not forget if Somerset had not left him high and dry Nick Morris would still be with Swindon and Somerset.

I had a funny feeling that this might happen. Do feel for Swindon though, they are the ones to suffer through the Somerset fiasco. Maybe we could be looking at a Sheffield that could look like this. (1) Simon Stead (2) Facu Albin (3) Adam Roynon (4) Dakota North (5) Nick Morris (6) Damien Koppe (7) Jake Knight 42.15 or maybe (1) Simon Stead (2) Andre Compton (3) Adam Roynon (4) Tero Aarnio (5) Nick Morris (6) Damien Koppe (7) Jake Knight. 42.20

Possible, certainly would not take any prisoners.
-
Nope.
-
Maybe. I would not be surprised to see an announcement for at least one signing this Thursday. Looking at the Sheffield Speedway Facebook page it seems that the consortium are asking fans for their views on the all different matters regarding the club, which is pretty refreshing, and claim to have a few new ideas of their own.

Have to say Rob Godfrey has done it again with an excellent looking team. The fact that he stuck with the lad Douglas has to be a major coup for this season, the lad looks as though he could put some serious points on his average. With the exception of the lad Williamson you can see a team of 6 riders who have the potential to average between 6.5 to 8 points. For me they are the team to beat.

Or maybe Sean already has his hands full with his own business. http://www.seanwilsonracing.co.uk/
-
Again would rather go with a proven experienced Team Manager. Both Sean Wilson and Stoney were excellent riders and captains, but that does not mean that they will be great Team Managers.
-
Would rather go with someone who has a proven track record as a Team Manager.
-
Jack Lee is at present the Team Manager at Buxton, has a wealth of experience as a Team Manager.
-
I think it is highly unlikely that Garry would be interested always said that Team Managing does not interested him plus he has a thriving business that keeps him very busy. But Jack Lee could be and has a wealth of experience, and would be a good call.
-
Why not wait for this thread when all of the teams have been completed.
-
Bridger not worth taking at the average he would come in on. It leave use with 14.86 for the remaining 4 places, which simply is not enough.,
-
Cannot disagree with those finishing sentiments. The last two seasons have been hell, and I have gone to meetings more out of habit than enjoyment.

As I said I don't know merely pointing out how it effect the group that go to speedway with. Anyway with the Eagles now using Sundays for Rugby matches that effectively rules out Sunday racing. One of the reasons for mentioning Wednesdays is that the stadium would be far more accessible on a Wednesday than on a Thursday, giving the Promotion more time to work on the track and don't forget that they now have an air fence to erect. But of course the main thing is that we get a winning team that we can be proud of.
-
i don't know. For me its not a problem these days I can go any day of the week, but in the group of 4 that I stand with SKJ, Squall and Roynon Fan. Sundays would rule out Squall due to work commitments, which in turn would more than likely rule out Roynon Fan. That 50% of our group ruled out. I don't think that Sundays is a great idea, there are lot of the top boys who ride Polish lower leagues on a Sunday. And as you have pointed out the above are now booked to use Sundays.
-
Sunday afternoons were basically thrown out by the fans last season. I am thinking along the lines of maybe going with Wednesday nights.

Peterborough Panthers 2014
spin king replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Got to be honest I much prefer the 20 heats everyone races everyone once, and the rider who scores the most points wins the meeting. Not keen on the Semi Final and Final type system. -
Who knows. Could it be that he is about to change his Elite League club. Maybe Sheffield could change their race night. Who knows. Nick did state on his Facebook page some fans will be disappointed with his next announcement.
-
With Ollie signing for Coventry and the Coventry/ Peterborough connection there was every chance that Ollie would finish up at Peterborough. I am actually surprised that Somerset did not take him/ But you know what if Nick Morris is doing Premier League, there is only one club that can now fit him in.

Saw him a few times Guesting for Sheffield last season. Very promising rider, even won a heat 14 beating Lewis Blackbird, Jason Bunyan and Tyson Nelson.
