  1. Yeah Steady has to be a favorite for the PLRC, but not quite sure about Eddie Kennett.
  2. At Sheffield the crowds are up slightly , which is amazing when you consider that we are in no better position in the league than for the last 2 seasons. The promotion at Sheffield have worked hard this season. The racing has improved, as they have done a lot of work on the track. The presentation overall has improved, and they have introduced a more family friendly start time. And with two young vibrant well connected Promoters who have promised that money will spent on the team and make improvements I think the future is very bright at Sheffield and I am confident that we will be challenging for honours next season.
  3. Simon Stead injured his arm in heat 1 after falling with Super Guest Sedgmen. He was late coming out for heat 1 as he had been receiving treatment for an injured left fore arm. Which was getting worse as the meeting went on hence why he did not ride heat 15.
  4. We have got Edinburgh, Berwick and Plymouth at home, and then Edinburgh, Plymouth and Workington twice away.
  5. Funny that we were checking the scores at Redcar as well. Needless to say Redcar are not very popular with me at the moment.
  6. Massive performance from the Tigers, and after what was a lackluster performance last week from Sheffield, this just what the doctor ordered. The Comets were poor, no very poor and a meeting that they must have been confident of taking 4 points of a weakened Sheffield. If I was a Comets fan I would be deeply upset with this defeat as the scoreline frankly flattered you. But tonight I am proud of all of the Sheffield riders all did the club proud tonight.
  7. Very surprised to see not many are backing Simon Stead. Steady is no his home track and bang on form. Also at Premier League I believe that the only honor to allude him is a PLRC win, so I think he will be hellbent on trying to take this title.
  8. Shows how the rolling averages can play against you. On scores from meetings this season Andre has the highest average for a Sheffield rider and at home his scores have generally been very much of a heatleader standard . But because of the rolling averages we a re left having to use an off form Ben Wilson, youngster who is finding his feet in Josh Bates and Taylor Poole who has more often than not rose to the occasion, but as we saw last Thursday Taylor had a poor one by his recent standards and that has a detrimental effect on the teams performances/
  9. Neil Machin is at the club purely to guide the new Promoters and to assist them and to offer up any advice, i think that role was originally earmarked for Dave Hoggart I believe but the new Promotion decided to go along with Neil instead. Which seems very sensible to me after all the shenanigans that have gone of at Birmingham. As for Simon Parker as far as I am aware Simon is still definitely involved with the club, not sure why his name is not down as a Co- Promoter, could be down to how the club was bought and the share issue. But I think that you will find that it is definitely a new Promotion running the show and Neil is there as an advisor.
  10. Know quite a bit about Sheffield. Tungate record around Sheffield; 2013 4 paid 6 from 4 rides, 2012 1 paid 2 from 3 rides Heeps ; record around Sheffield; 2013 3 from 4 rides, 2012 1 from 3 rides, Risager record around Sheffield; 2013 6 from 4 rides, 4 paid 5 from 4 rides, 2011 5 paid 7 from 4 rides, and 4 from 4 rides. Never seen anything from either of them to suggest that they will be prolific around Sheffield, unless you know something that I don't. .
  11. I think the Play Offs are here to stay, and after been initially wary of them I find that I really do like them and I am quite a fan of them, on a personal note I think that they keep the season alive for the full season. Hopes for 2015 Purely selfishly I would like to see Sheffield have a good season, the new Promotion have worked so hard and it would be nice to see that hard work rewarded. Also would be nice to see some of the other teams that be around the bottom of the league with us over the last couple of seasons do well the likes of Glasgow, Rye House and Plymouth, and just for once lets see Edinburgh struggle. Increase in numbers of Premier League teams, 16 would be the ideal number. Hopefully the Elite League will see sense and run all Elite League matches on Mondays and Mondays to become exclusively Elite League night. That would go a long way to solving the doubling up problems. People smile more at speedway meetings, and actually enjoy themselves. What I don't want to see for 2015 I hate the idea of Elite amalgamating with the Premier League. I am not to fussed about rationalization for any of the league's. Not too much to ask for.
  12. I think we have seen the downside of the strength in depth team. When they have to use Rider Replacement or if a rider/ riders having an off night this is what can happen. What was it two races wins, never going to do anything with so few race wins.
  13. I remember the incident in Birmingham, also you forgot to mention that you were interviewed for the meeting video. Another George classic was the time he phone you at 0600 am in Poland to tell you that the hotel staff had refuse to serve him a drink.
  14. Not disputing that his performances have not been up to scratch for Rye, not really looked at them to be honest. But Rocket Ben is talking about his Elite League meetings and the standard of rider he is beating in the Elite League, which is a bit unfair, basically he is trying to point out that he has not beat any of the top riders in the Elite League. That would be difficult with the position he rides in the team, as he is never programmed to ride against them, you cannot win or lose to rider if you don't race them. .
  15. Lets not forget that he also beat the current World Champion on his own patch at the British Final, and but for last gasp swoop from Bomber Harris Jason would have been in the final.
  16. Well Done to our Scottish cousins, having Comets fans with us at every meeting this season have a dig at us all season this makes up for it slightly. You have to feel a bit for the Comets Promotion, the side that they put together looked a really good one and certs for a Play Off place but is looking increasingly like they could well miss out.
  17. First things first best wishes and a speedy recovery to Liam Carr, the lad had done good job for us and to see him finish up with what looks to be a very nasty injury is sad and seems very unfair. I think we got out of jail a little bit regarding the result but the meeting was finely balanced and could have either way, maybe a draw would have a fairer result. But meetings are always going to be tough when you track 3 Guest riders and Rider Replacement and another rider making his home debut. Will be good to see the Tigers back to full strength, hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.
  18. Here we go again someone else asking or suggesting that everyone should boycott speedway meetings. I am still waiting for some from the boycott brigade to tell me why I should stop going to see my team who race in the Premier League because basically the Elite League is in a mess. Sorry I am sympathetic to fans who support Elite League speedway clubs, but at the end of the day I am reasonably happy where the Premier League is concerned. The Promoters of the Elite League need to change things radically, they need to understand the successful and top riders and get in line with modern day speedway. Maybe just maybe they should listen to our present modern day current World Champion and get their heads out of the sand. Because if they don't change their ways then they run the risk of running the league into the ground. Like in any business if you don't move with the times eventually you will go under.
  19. Are you really confident making that statement. Funny how you mention Nick Morris, was that not the Nick Morris informed Swindon that he wanted to ride for Sheffield after he initially lost his place at Somerset which effectively meant that he would not be riding for Swindon if he did that.
  20. Lets get one thing straight speedway crowds are down from say 10 years ago in all leagues, if there are clubs that are experiencing better crowds then they are a rarity. And lets face it it will only get worse and the for the major problem is the Elite League, it should be the standard bearer for the British speedway and unless someone comes up with some very radical ideas then I think we are looking at speedway in this country to become more sustainable having Premier League standard as the top league. The Elite League has failed to move with the times for a modern day top speedway rider, and most have either never bothered with the League or have drifted away. Eventually Sky have decided that they were not prepared to fund the league anymore after watering things down and as they have done this more and more fans have walked away. The Premier League although the crowd levels have gone down, but as product is still as good if not better than 10 years ago and of the two league's although not in healthy position financially it is in a far better position than the Elite League.
  21. And for me it starts a the very top, and the way the top league has been run. The Elite League has had the lions share of money that has been given to British Speedway and they have messed up, to a point now that there is not much difference between the Premier League and Elite League. If we think back to 10 years ago the standard of the Elite League reduced drastically and the Premier League at worse is no different.
  22. Is that true, I got the feeling that he could not agree a price for the club.
  23. I wouldn't say I am disillusioned with my own teams promotion at Sheffield, far from it. even though our league position is not the best. But at least there is a feeling that they are trying to make improvement to team and presentation. For me the Play Offs are good for the sport, and add to the excitement. I can live with the Tactical double. For me its the feeling that the Premier League appears to have been propping up the Elite League for more seasons that I care to mention, and this season its also National League giving them a lift up as well. How far are the Elite League Promoters prepared to go, this season we have seen but for visa problems Leicester of the Elite League were going to run with the same number 1 as Somerset in the Premier League. This was a group of Promoters who have had the luxury of the more than the lions share of the Sky money, but they squandered that money Many times I have been asked would I like to see my team Sheffield in the Elite League, and the answer has always been the same No Thank you.
  24. The big problem for me is the doubling up of riders which has gotten way out of hand. Right I want you all to visualize that you have introduced a friend to speedway called Jim. Jim has come away from the meeting and has really enjoyed the niht and decides that he wants to return the following week. He comes he buys his programme and starts to look at the team for the meeting and he has a perplexed look upon his face and starts asking the following questions. Jim; Whats happened to that fella that I thought was great last week Bobby Jawa, is he injured or sick or something. You; No he riding for his other team in another league. Jim; His other team. You; He is allowed ride in two different leagues in this country and as the other club signed him first they have first choice over his services. But he will back riding for us next week as we don't have any clash of fixtures. Jim; So it does not happen very often then. You; Nah about 5 or 6 times over the season. Jim; And whats happened to Bengt Rearguard, don't tell me his riding for his other team. You; No. Jim; So he is injured. You; Nah he riding for his Swedish club they have first call over him as he is Swedish. Jim; Does that happen often. You; No only a couple of times. Jim; Where is Brain Weslake is riding for another club. You; No he is injured. Jim; So he would have been riding tonight if he was not injured. You; Not really as he rides for the same team as Bobby Jawa, so he would have been riding for them anyway. But we will be okay next week as they will all be free to ride for us. So okay its bit over exaggerated, but you can go to any speedway meeting any night of the week and you can get any one of those examples. This season Newcastle tried to sign Robert Lambert, that would have meant that they would have had three doubling up riders from Kings Lynn meaning that any fixture clashes with Kings Lynn would have resulted in having to replace nearly half of their team for that fixture, is this what you fan really wants I don't think so. There is without shadow of doubt a shortage of riders in this country and a shortage of rider from overseas wanting to ride over here, this is why we have the problem of not enough riders to go around. The way around this is simple and easy for me make Monday night exclusively Elite League night, all Elite League fixtures to run on Monday night. If that means only 5 or 6 teams in an Elite League then so be it, its a small price to pay for the debacle that is going on now, would reduce the the fixture clashes and give riders more meetings who ride for more than one club. Fans want to see riders who ride for their club on a consist basis and not see them disappear riding for other teams in other league. . ,
