  1. I would be amazed if the Pairs was moved away from Somerset. Must be a massive money spinner for the BSPA.
  2. Actually he was offered one a few years back when we won a meal for 4 on the raffle. That was the National League match that was rain off. And after watching your efforts trying to get the track fit, I would have come down and invited you to join us if I had not handed over the voucher.beforehand.
  3. Add Plymouth and Ipswich to the list as well. To be fair David Bellego has a wicked riding style which suits the Sheffield track, reminds me so much of Richard Hall who equally is exciting and enjoyable around Sheffield. But like Richard there is question marks when he goes to the smaller tracks. Halifax is correct when he says that the main aim for Sheffield to get back to Fortress Owlerton and win home meetings, but I think there are other riders out there who maybe ride Sheffield well but offer more when we go on our travels.
  4. Both meetings this season at Sheffield he was superb, its those other performance at other away tracks that puts me off.
  5. Exciting and flamboyant to watch. Thanks but no thanks. Has an away average last season of 5.44 without bonus points. Take put his two Sheffield performances it then drops to 4.70. What can't speak can't lie. He is a Richard Hall with an exotic surname.
  6. Not even considered Adam Roynon, but looking at his finishing average he is a steal. Not sure how he would feel about coming back after been dropped this season, but for me if we can get him at reserve he would fly. Team for me Stead Birks Wolbert Poole Proctor Roynon Bates Comes in at 42.46.
  7. On that average certainly would not rule out Big Leigh for next season, but for me it would have to;be at reserve. A run at reserve could just be what the doctor ordered for Big Leigh.
  8. The funny thing is that he has done quite a few Guest bookings for Sheffield home and away and he has done really well, and when he came with Glasgow apart from a poor first race he came on strong later. I suppose everything points to a return to the Monarchs for next on a lower average, but I would not be surprised to see him at Sheffield next season.
  9. Plus we had the new British Under 21 Champion riding for us. You are right about injuries and they did blight our season. But with the new Promotion coming like a breath of fresh air I think we could be on the verge of returning to the top end of the league for 2015.
  10. Think you have done what I did when looking at the Sheffield team for next and not taken what will be likely to be the finishing averages. I have put the changes in brackets for you and unfortunately like me the team that you have chosen is slightly over the limit. Looks like me you will have to go back to the drawing board. Sorry.
  11. Looking at the new averages to come out have to scrap this team, as I did not bank on Steady's average rising by over a point and Taylor Poole putting about a point and half.
  12. Depends what sort of changes the Edinburgh Promotion, realistically to Wolbert in they have to drop Cook and one other rider, my guess is that Wolbert will not be at Edinburgh. But I suppose you never know.
  13. Joe said that he would like to be back at the club next season in some capacity but not as Team Manager due to family and business commitments.
  14. Personally really looking forward to 2015 as the new promotion will start on a level playing field regarding team building. I think they will and I hope they will go for a team that will make home meeting Fortress Owlerton, if you can go all season without dropping any home points then more or less there into the play offs. Looking at this seasons riders for Sheffield. Simon Stead; Has been immense for the club, and there is not rider in the league that I would swap Steady for so its a no brainer to bring back the 2014 PLRC champ. retain Leigh Lanham; Not really worked out for Big Leigh, with the biggest disappointment from him was his away performances. release Ty Proctor; Never really got going, but start to just show us what he can do when he got injured. On his finishing average I think he will form some excellent back up for Steady; bring back. Adam Roynon; I am a massive Roynon fan, and would normally pick him to ride for Sheffield, but there is always a nagging doubt that Adam will pick up injuries don't bring back (But with a heavy heart) Nico Covatti; Not done enough for me, had a couple of decent meetings but not enough especially at Sheffield, I would also be very worried about his continental commitments. release. Taylor Poole; If he is fit then get him back. Once he found his feet and got going I thought he was superb. But for me on the average he would be coming back on would certainly love to see him back. retain Andre Compton; Had the big crash and still not been able to see how badly that has effected him, made it clear he wants to be back next, but I do worry about that crash and what sort effect it has had. possibly retained. Ben Wilson; Not too sure about Ben, really want to say yes to him. Successful Sheffield teams have always had local riders in their team and like Steady Ben is a local lad. So like Andre I would say. possibly retained. Josh Bates; Bit wild and erratic at times, but cannot fault his 100% effort, and the club have invested a lot of time and effort developing that talent. retain. From my retained list I would love to see a team built around Simon Stead to give us a solid looking team, to do that we would need to sign riders who are between 5.5 and just below 7 point averages who riding at Sheffield each week could improve on those averages. So with a team that I have at the moment. (1) Stead (2) , (3) (4) (5) Ty Proctor (6) Taylor Poole (If not fit then Compton or Wilson) (7) Josh Bates For the other 3 spots take any of these riders David Bellego Jason Garrity Kevin Wolbert Ashley Birks
  15. A decent meeting, a very depleted Sheffield team, another defeat but to be honest I was quite happy with the result as we now finish our season and we look to next season. Interesting to see Masters and Sedgmen doing so well around Sheffield. Roll on 2015.
  16. Total agree with you on the final sentence, the idea is a fantastic idea, but fitting it all in with an already clogged up fixture list would make it virtually impossible to fulfill all of the fixtures.
  17. Nice idea, but think how much problems Workington had fulfilling the fixture this season, and you want to add another to mix.
  18. So we will take that you will be attending this meeting, with that rally cry to fans.
  19. I remember few years ago Zetterstrom receiving ban for missing the meeting for a Polish meeting, so unless rules have changed then they should receive bans. With the PLRC I think like the ELRC it has seen its day,the fours and the pairs are probably still okay, but the rider championships I think will eventually be phased out over time. For me the PLRC is more about the day out and meeting up with opposing fans for a drink or two at the New Barrack, and like Shads says I too am not a great lover of the individual meetings. Hopefully those who are making the trip this can maybe find there way to to New Barrack Tavern for the regular meet up, which usual early birds Paulco and Bluejam arriving there at around 1200 to 1230, everyone is welcome to come and join us, if any wants directions please feel free to pm me and I will let you know.
  20. Little bit disappointed by the result last night,we gave Berwick a point as gift with our selection of gate positions for heat 15. With an 8 point lead we rather than defend the lead we put Steady on the grave yard 4th gate. But fair play to Berwick they took their chance when the opportunity came knocking. As for Sheffield think we need to see out this season and plan for next season.
  21. Word has it that Ryan Douglas has just tweeted, to thank Shadders for reminding everyone that it is his birthday today.
