  1. You could not stage a meeting like that anymore. For instance last night Nick Morris rode at number 1 for Swindon. The next meeting at Sheffield is against Glasgow whose number 1 is? Nick Morris. Its not too long ago the only doubling up riders in the Elite League were those who shared a reserve berth. The standard is narrowing. Totally missing the point, trying to pit a full strength Elite League team against a full strength Premier League would be virtually impossible due to over used doubling up rule. For instance of the 14 riders on show at the Swindon v Coventry meeting last night I can see 8 of those riders riding in the Premier League. And looking at it of those 4 Swindon and 4 Coventry the two top scorers from each are riders that I can see in Premier League. Not so many years ago the only doubling up allowed was two riders sharing one doubling up position.
  2. Of course the standard of the Elite League is better than the Premier League, but I think that the main point is over the last 4 to 5 seasons the gap in standard has narrowed rapidly to the point where they not that far from been level in standard. I too love the sport and enjoy watching team racing at all levels, but for me I much prefer the Premier League where there are far more variation different competitions than there is in Elite League.
  3. There is a difference between riding in the British Elite League and the top Danish League. In the Elite league you may find yourself riding; Belle Vue on the Monday Poole on the Wednesday Swindon on the Thursday Coventry on the Friday (providing there is no GP) The Danish League is run only on a Wednesday. The Elite League asks for a high commitment level for little financial reward. That is why the likes of Pedersen, Hancock, Hampel, Jonasson, Kasprzak, Jensen do bothered with the league and Jonsson who appears after starting in the league has now turned his back on riding in the league. Look at the GP standings so far the top 4 riders all have given the Elite League a miss, the Elite league far to demanding, and until Promoters and fans alike accept that top level speedway in this country should be run on one night only the top riders in the World are more likely to give riding in the league a miss.
  4. Somerset are a far better team than people are giving them credit for. I really fancy them to win the league this year, two riders in the team more than a match for anyone else's number 1, and the rest of the team (Benji Compton excluded), they are more than capable of beating any team.
  5. Has actually said he will not ride in this country again? I don't think he has, he has stated that he did not want to ride here so he could keep himself fresh for another go at winning the World title. When he won the title before he rode over here so maybe he will do the same again if he wins the title again. Technically incorrect. This season British Semi Final/ WTC at Kings Lynn, British Final Wolverhampton.
  6. Could you please explain to me what or how you know this is true,
  7. And what they really mean is the BSPA M.C.
  8. Okay I get what you are saying. But why then did the BSPA appoint someone as specialist advicer?
  9. To be honest I would not be surprised to see him retire, but then again I would not be surprised to see him make a comeback after injury. I suppose it depends on how well the injuries he suffered will have healed and if he feels that he can be as dominant on the bike as to whether or not he does decide to call it a day.
  10. Thought I would start the thread for this one. Should be a tough one for us, as we will need to take a big lead to Edinburgh. Hopefully the Promotion will bring in young starlet Brady Kurtz, who appears to have taken a big liking to the Owlerton Bowl. Also hopefully the reserves can score some decent points, and Ash Birks has managed to find some form. Of the Monarchs Cookie, Masters and Wolbert should be very competitive, and I am looking forward to see the young German lad. Prediction time; Sheffield to win, but by a short margin and Edinburgh to take the tie over the two legs.
  11. I was not at the meeting this Thursday, but I am told that the the announcement was made as you have stated. Privately I have my own suspicions and theories as to what has happened, and private is where it will stay.
  12. I would go along with what you are saying, but it is interesting that as well as The Saint not divulging where his sources came from neither does SCB.
  13. Could be similarities to Somerset/ Brady Kurtz situation last season when they claimed they were told.
  14. Reading between the lines I get the feeling that there has been some confusion between the rolling averages and the average for rides for this season.
  15. The pay is no problem. You make your riders aware and pay them for the position they gave up. Is that not classed as a backhand payment is that legal?
  16. Sounds easy in principle, but unless you have seen all of the 10 races where he has gained a bonus point which neither you and I have I don't think we can make a judgement. Also should a rider be expected to let his partner through and lose money. Unless you are Ipswich who went against the ruling of paying bonus points.
  17. We can bleat all we want, but it ain't going to change anything. I don't agree with it, and I don't like it, but we move on.
  18. In the Premier League they are not paid for bonus points as from last season, the Promoters took the decision that they were not going to pay for them. Mind you it was said that Ipswich decided to go against the ruling and paid their riders.
  19. I don't think you can take that into account, on occasions he has battled through from 3rd to take a bonus points. End of the day rubbish happens I don't agree with it and I feel for the rider but we move on.
  20. Fair enough, but what is answer to post 32?
  21. If I did not know that you were going to be out of pocket because any chance we had of winning the league has gone I would say your actually enjoying this.
  22. Putting aside the fact the right or wrongs, and who is dumb and who is not. What happens if a rider is given 60 days to prove themselves and goes out first race and gets injured and does not ride for the duration of the 60 days, would this mean the visa is revoked.
  23. I have to agree totally stupid, surely they should be looking at this over the season and it should calculated at the end of the season's average for that season. Ty has over a 7 point average for meetings this season so far surely that should be enough. I can see this having large repercussions for the sport.
