  1. I am of the same opinion to be honest, but then again who would have thought 3 or 4 seasons ago that Jason Doyle could have not only become a GP regular but also get himself into the top 8 of the GP.
  2. Although not confirmed totally Steady is back in training with his personal trainer so looks like he is intending to return.
  3. Don't forget that James gets a 2.5% reduction on his average.
  4. Is anyone surprised really, cannot make a name for himself riding on the continent while riding Premier League. Personally I think it has done Edinburgh a massive favour, they can now go with; Masters Wolbert Sedgmen Riss Clegg 3 pointer And still have 5.86 left over for their last rider. Maybe another Riss joining the club.
  5. Welcome to Nathan Greaves. Like others have said nice to see another local talent coming to the club. From what I have seen of young Nathan he appears to be a raw talent, yes he has made mistakes and I dare say he will make more, but he will mostly be facing riders of a similar standard and experience plus he will have riders that will help and pass on advice with the likes of Steady and Ash Birks and if he is prepared to listen and take on board the advice then he will not go far wrong. On the subject of Andre, there was always going to be someone unlucky and he won't be the only one it is the nature of the sport at least the club have informed him early which gives him plenty of time to get sort out with another club.
  6. Also I think Josh get a 2.5% reduction on his average as well.
  7. Both Simon and Jason has clearly stated on more than one occasion that they both want to be back at Sheffield next season. If there is any doubts over one of them then I would say it is Simon, the injuries he sustain at Rye were pretty serious and they are or were not healing as well as expected. I don't think that if we sign both riders for next it will mean that we would have both Arthur and Paco, in fact the introduction of the British number 7 will probably spell the end of one and I think that will be Paco. So if the top 2 is Steady and Jason, the third heatleader has to be a rider of an average between 6 and 7 points, the favourite for that has to be Ty Proctor assuming he can get his qualification for his visa. With all that in mind we could go with the following Stead 10.41 Garrity 8.46 Proctor 6.68 Bates 5.44 Sissis 3.71 British Junior 3.00. That would leave us with 4.80 for the last rider That is what I think that is the team that I think the Promotion will be looking to bring in/
  8. He started the 2014 season at reserve. If the man still feels the urge to continue then so be it, and he would make a good middle order ride for another club.
  9. Absolutely if a team is looking for a solid middle order man then they could do a lot worse than Andre.
  10. The only problem is that if we have Steady, Garrity and Bates Andre will have to ride at the 3rd heatleader role, okay he maybe be able to do that home, but away I doubt whether he is capable.
  11. Maybe they bring in someone to help them with the team matters and rider contracts who has experience.
  12. Congratulations to the Monarchs once again they set the standard for the rest us to chase. For Glasgow I think the writing was on the wall as soon as Summers was injured, you cannot afford to lose your best and most consistent rider over the season in a Play Off, will be interesting to see what their promotion do about the team next season. But after all the banter some good and not so good, it has to be a shot in the arm for Scottish speedway to have both teams contest the Final.
  13. I was very impressed with what Ashley had to say, I thought he spoke with passion and drive and pure common sense and I cannot think of anyone better to take on the role as Ambassador for the club.
  14. Just back from the Presentation night. Fans rider of the year Josh Bates. Promoter's rider of the year, Josh Bates and Jason Garrity. Other news to come out. Ash Birks is to take a year out of riding speedway at least, but has accepted a role with the club to assist with Promoting the club in the Community. But the biggest news coming out is that the club are in very forward negotiations to re- opening the Sheffield training track with the view to bringing on their own local British junior riders with a long term view to re- introducing to team to ride in the National League alongside the Senior team, and the training track will be managed by Ash Birks and other senior Sheffield riders will help out when commitments allow. All exciting news, and shows that the club are investing in young British riders.
  15. Have to agree for me rather enforcing clubs to go with young British riders why not make it viable option to use one. Have British Junior starting average to all new young British riders of say 2.5 points. Encouragement rather than Enforcement will always be a better option.
  16. To be honest I think that the Premier League, will have at least one young Brit as a draft rider per team which would more or less rule out either Paco or Arthur Sissis, and of those two I would go with Arthur. If they decide to go with two draft riders then could possibly rule out Arthur as well
  17. Playing Devils Advocate here, but has anyone consider the possibility of Sheffield team without Simon Stead. 10.41 average is a massive amount of the teams total. Could we or would we better off looking elsewhere and having a more balanced and strength in depth team. Or is he one rider that we can least afford to lose with his virtually guaranteed double figure scores every meeting. Thoughts everyone. Personally if Steady is fit then I think you have to go with him.
  18. Would those riders scored 5 paid 7 from 4 rides in the main body of the team, two paid wins in that score at Berwick. Scunthorpe 5 paid 8 from 4 rides. Shows that there is maybe some potential there, but I don't think you can really judge him properly on 10 meetings, a season or half a season I would agree. But if the league decides to go using a draft system he won't get a place anyway.
  19. I think a lot will depend upon what the Conference brings as to who we have at reserve. If they go for draft pick reserves or a reserve I think it could spell the end of Paco and Arthur as reserves at Sheffield. If they don't then and with the likelihood that Simon Stead will be back on a massive 10.41 average we are going to have to be cute with who we choose as the reserve pairing. I think Arthur started to show just before the injury what he could do, and Paco only did about 10 meetings and showed glimpses what he can do. If Paco would have had a full season at the club I would have said leave him out but the fact that most meeting were rode at the very difficult number 2 position I would say give the guy a proper run at reserve.
  20. End of season bash on Friday. First signing for the 2016 season to be announced, and some exciting news for future plans. All sounds very positive.
  21. Why not ask the Promotions where crowds levels have increased over the last couple of seasons on what they have done to gain the extra support and raise the crowd levels. Seems like a logical answer to me.
  22. Sheffield would welcome Brady with open arms as one of his sponsors is one of the Promoters at Sheffield. But I don't think that Brady will be at either Somerset, Sheffield or any other Premier league club. My guess is that he will be full time with Poole in the Elite next season.
  23. I would certainly agree with the sentiments about the feel good factor, even when the injuries hit and the problems with Ty Proctor, the Promotion did the best to bring in riders who could keep the winning ways going. Just a pity we could not find the the rider to replace Steady, but that was always going to be a massive problem. As for next season Steady if fit, Bates and Garrity have to be viewed as certs for next season, as for the rest I think will depend upon whether or not Premier League adopts the draft system. But I think whatever next season we will be back challenging at the top of the league rather than the bottom.
