It was a joke. A rubbish joke, but a joke. -
Sheffield V Edinburgh (27 April)
spin king replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The forecast was for heavy showers between 6 till 7 originally in Sheffield. That has since been changed to 8 till 9. At best they would have got 5 to 6 heats race in that time, not even Rob Godfrey could run a meeting in 30 minutes. I would say that the lessons have been lean't from last season when meetings were cancelled at the very last minute. -

Completely different story at Sheffield, we had no problem with the lad. The thing about him is that he is a gater and if he gates generally no one can catch him. I do think that the expectation for him from some of the Berwick fans was a tad over the top, if you break down his near 7 point average last season you will see that he had a near 8 point average at Sheffield and little over 5 point average I think that tells a story. -

The changes to the Berwick team should show a slight improvement, but to be honest they look as though they are papering over the cracks, and I would still fancy my side to get up there and come away with some sort of points. One thing I do think it says is that Bridger is on last chance saloon, the way the team is made up he has to come up with the goods, if he does not then my guess is that he could well be the next to be shown the door. -
Kyle Howarth I think he will finish the season Sheffield number 1. Also been pleasantly surprise with Todd Kurtz at Sheffield.

Sheffield V Peterborough 20/4/17 7.30 Sgbcl
spin king replied to Blackadder's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Cracking meeting last night with two very committed teams, Peterborough never laid down and gave in. The racing was also good although to me the track looked no different, what appears to me a dirt line around the outside of the track no dirt on the inside of the track, but they seem to try to bring back some dirt on the inside of the track but not as much as on the outside. Hopefully they can prepare the track like then again, as the entertainment value was a big improvement. As for the teams I think that Sheffield is once again becoming a fortress and teams will have to be on their A game if they want get anything at Sheffield, every rider is doing their job. Peterborough surprised me, they were far better than I had anticipated, I do think that they may find it bit difficult when BWD moves into the main body of the team, and he will sooner rather than later because he is taking extra rides for others something he won't be able to when he moves up. Overall feeling very satisfied. -
Lets set the record straight here regarding PLRC, or as its new name will be CLRC or whatever they choose to call it. It was nothing to do with the track good or bad depending upon what you think. At the last AGM Sheffield threw the hat into the ring to run the event. Glasgow then decided that they would like to run the event and applied. Upon hearing this Scunthorpe then applied. There was a vote and the result was follows; Glasgow 5 votes Sheffield 4 votes Scunthorpe 1 vote Glasgow won the vote to run the event.

If you want to get the best out of Berge, you need to have him riding at the number 2 riding slot. Check out his last seasons scores when riding for Sheffield last season when he was riding at that position. -
We should be at full strength for this one. We don't normally go well at Brough Park, but fro us to get anything from the meeting we will have to make sure that we get shared heats that feature Lambert and Worrall, and try and get some sort advantage when they are not out. Heats 13 and 15 could well be our downfall.

Sheffield V Ipswich, 13-4-17 Championship @7-30pm
spin king replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great Performance and one that I did not see coming. The started to come together when JPB held of Schlein to give us a 5-1 to take the lead and we never looked back after that. All round team performance and vry special mention for Guest rider Mark Riss who was superb. Upwards and Onwards for Tigers. -

Cannot be far off the new set of green sheets come out and I would wait for that as quite few of the Bandits averages will drop. I would replace Blacklock with either James Sarjeant (Kyle Newman due back soon, so James time would be up at Ipswich) or Stefan Nielsen. Move Carr down to reserve Move Berge to number 2 in the riding order (where he is most effective) Doolan to either 3 or 4 to partner the new rider. Vissing to 5. Do that and you at least stop the rot at home. -

I would not disagree with the comments bout the track, marginally better than last season, but far from perfect. -
Sheffield V Somerset 30/3/2017 Challenge

Right my take on last night. Decent crowd not quite the same amount that attends PLRC, but not far off. Racing was not great, not good, but then again it was not that bad,it was okayish. Meeting presentation was a let down, dragged on far too long and distinct lackof information coming from the centre green presenter. On the 100's drifting way after heat 12, not sure where the person who made the comment was stood but I was on the first bend and its was still packed out on there after hear 15. Was it a good marketing ploy or was it a flop. Who knows the proof in the pudding will be after the next couple of meetings then we will all know. Onto the meeting itself. With Somerset replacing Josh G with Nathan Greaves, balanced the two teams For Sheffield I was really impressed with Rob Branford and Todd Kurtz, Branford rode very intelligently and Kurtz did far better than I expected. Kyle Howarth play a true captain role and he battled well to win heat 15. Josh Bates looked more than capable, and JPB made a steady start. And Josh G and Lasse Bjerre will sure have better nights. For Somerset was impressed with Hougaard and Wright, the rest were a bit of a disappointed. So with the with the first look at the team, they can do better but was enough to feel confident for the rest of the season. -
Not really, so would you like to explain to me please.
-
Sheffield need to back the British riders. Last season team started with 6 Brits in the starting team line up. This season 4 Brits and the last 4 Under 21 Champions are riding for the team as well. Maybe you might want to explain how much more you think that they could help the back British riders, I for one would be interested to find out please.

Ipswich Vs Sheffield Sgbc 25/03/17 7.30pm
spin king replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well Done the Witches, think we were beaten by the better side on the night. Looking at the updates our inability to get our of the gate let us down, and on some of the few occasions we did manage it the race was stopped. Not overly concerned about the result as Ipswich way would have been one of the toughest meetings for us, and we will get better and stronger as the season progresses. We should put a line under this result and move on to the next fixture. -

Big early test for both teams. Ipswich to see how well they can cover for a missing rider. Sheffield to see how much they can take advantage of a weakened Ipswich team. I think we have let Ipswich off the hook by allowing them to change their rider positions. I would have put a stop to that, and I would have also question the use of Rider Replacement for Kyle Newman, if the rule states that only a National League Guest rider should be used then so be it. -
8.22, that Holder and who else your gonna drop?

I think that we all cast an eye over at Glasgow with some form of envy, I think that we would all be lying if we did not admit to that. To be honest £5 does appear to be a bit steep, but if generally most fans who have Owners investing so heavily in their club generally don't object to paying a bit extra, and it is the Glasgow fans that are been asked to put their hands in their pocket and as long as they don't mind its okay. Bit compared toa lot of other clubs it is a tad bit over priced.
-
I think a lot will depend on how much money the meeting makes, if they find that they have a bigger crowd and make more money at Glasgow then they will more than likely keep it there.
-
Have to agree after lsitening to him talk at the recent forum, very articulate and spoke well as well as talking a lot of common sense.
-
There will be vouchers in the programme for money off the next meeting.

Q and A session tonight, main information to come out from the session. Kyle Howarth to be the captain of the team for 2017. On the rider doubling up situation it would appear that Sheffield have the priority over all the riders doubling up with the exception of Josh Grajczonek, and it would appear that the only fixtures he will miss will be meetings at Edinburgh. Sheffield to follow the blueprint that Glasgow run meetings not entirely sure what that means maybe some from Glasgow can maybe elaborate. Riding orders not yet decided. And the big one is that for the first match of the season the challenge match against Somerset, entry will be free to everyone.

Would have though so, makes sense.
