Nothing has been decided as yet, but the favoured option seems to be Monday and Thursday fixed nights for Elite League racing. My believe is that they are trying alleviate the doubling up problems, which this season has gotten out of hand. The options for us as club as I see it is; (1) Move up into the Premiership and keep our traditional Thursday night racing. (2) Stay in the Championship but change our race night. (3) Stay in the Championship keep Thursday nights but have problems signing riders, basically anyone who wants to double up won't want to ride for a Thursday night Championship club. Like yourself and a lot of others I would favour things staying the way they are, but it shows you how far gone the sport has gone downhill when it looks like we maybe forced into a situation which is out of our control.

I have a feeling that we could be moving up to the top league. With the word been that the top league going to fixed race nights of Monday and Thursday, and both nights been our regular race night and the other been our regular alternative night, I see us swapping places with Leicester who seem to have decided that they are best running on a Saturday. With that in mind I think that we could see the following riders returning; Kyle Howarth Josh Bates Lasse Bjerre Jan Gravensen That would see us looking for three other riders Maybe Scott Nicholls who has been doing a lot of Guest bookings Maybe Kim Nilsson transfer his services over from Leicester. I definitely don't see Josh Auty at Sheffield whatever league we ride, and to be fair I don't see the benefit to him coming back to Sheffield to either club or rider. On a 42 point limit, which is what they will probably go with Kai Huckenbeck. I also have a feeling that Ipswich will swap places with Kings Lynn in the top league.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2018
spin king replied to IronScorpion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
My final say on the matter as this thread is the Scunthorpe thread. We did not have a problem with him at Sheffield. He put on nearly 3 points on his starting average But with Bjerre been available and wanting to ride for the club on lower average, the club went for Bjerre as the better option, as the saying goes speedway is a numbers game. Berge did rely heavily on his gating, and he did have his limitations. But as far as I know he was not a problem at Sheffield, there was obviously a problem at both Glasgow and Berwick, who knows what the problem was itdoes happen sometimes maybe he felt more comfortable at Sheffield. And I think he could do s decent job in the middle order for Scunthorpe. -

Funny he was not a problem at Sheffield,I firmly believe that he would have been back at Sheffield if had not been for that the opportunity to sign Bjerre on a low average. -
I wonder if they missed a trick at the start of the season when riders were given one average. Rather than Championship teams built to a 40 point limit and Premiership side built to a 50 point limit, have both leagues built to a 45 point limit. My guess is that you would have seen a fairer more exciting Promotion/Relegation Play Off.
-
To me it should if win the league then you should be promoted if you finish bottom then your relegated, that is the only way it will work. The present way it works the Championship side that is built to 40 point limit, has to try and beat a Premiership side that is built to a 50 point limit, and then try and beat them over two legs. Keeping it that way means no team is ever likely to get promoted.

Who knows, maybe the Leicester raised their game. Lets face it King raised his game in the Pairs the day before compared to the meetings he rode for Ipswich. In a season when we there have so many positives and things to celebrate I can forgive one performance even though as I have stated that the cards were heavily stack against us. And as for those who seem to think that the meeting was somehow rigged or fixed totally and utter cobblers, if they had rigged it they would have made so that the scoreline was close so get more interest in the second leg at Leicester, this will have cost Damien Bates an arm and leg because Sheffield fans are less likely to travel. And I ask you a question now, how come we only ever hear from you on here when there is a negative?
-
Totally disagree with anyone who says that Sheffield were not trying. Its simple on one side you have team that was built to a points limit of 40 where as the other is built to 50. It does not take a rocket scientist to work who should or will win the cards are firmly stacked against the Championship team. If you are going to have Promotion and Relegation then make it automatic rather than a Play Off, where one team is basically riding with one hand tied behind there back. that would be a fairer solution.

Pairs Somerset

I think you perfectly summed up the meeting, this was not a walk in the park for Sheffield, and we had to work very hard for the wiin. And don't forget we are the only team in the league to have an unblemished home record this season. The Redcar pairing overall over the meeting were the best and most consistent pairing for the majority of the meeting. Stuart Wilson. -

Berge is a good rider, does nearly all of his work from the gate, when he was at Sheffield I cannot remember him passing anyone. But more often or not if he got out of the gate then he was never or rarely caught. -
There is someone that fits all of those criteria. World Champion, could be World Longtrack Champion Presenter, BT speedway presenter. Team Manager; Lakeside manager is a former World Longtrack champion and TV presenter on BT. Could it be the one and only Kelvin Tatum

Ipswich V Sheffield Po Final 2nd Leg 30-9-17
spin king replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Champions we are the champions. We top the league and we went onto comprehensively win the Play Offs. A great team effort from a team who have rode as a team all season, we deserved this victory. I am not prone to showing my emotions on here but tonight I will let rip. Ipswich supporter Gavan posted around June or July time how much he was looking forward to Final between Ipswich Witches and Glasgow Tigers the two best teams in the league. It stuck in my mind then and I have waited for this moment since. You got the wrong Tigers sunshine. And these Tigers stuffed you mate home and away. -

Big night tonight. We should have enough in the tank to finish the job. But you never know with speedway and anything can happen. I think we need to go with the mindset that we go to Ipswich to win the meeting, and not try and defend the lead. I wonder how Leicester fans are feeling at the moment either way they will lose two of the riders for the promotion and relegation meetings. May the best team win. (As long as it is a Tigers team) -
Happy with my teams performance to only lose by 3 points after losing two riders (one been our number 1 and a track specialist) and on a track that appeared to be tricky track conditions for me showed determination and character that the team has shown in the last couple of months. Hopefully we can now move on and finish the job off, Thursday and Saturday with a fully fit team, but Ipswich are no push overs and I fear after last night meeting that we could have a problem with the fitness of some of our riders.

Fantastic all round performance from the South Yorkshire Tigers. Once again we shown how powerful we are at home although I think we took our foot of the gas towards the end of the meeting and we should have taken an even bigger lead up to Glasgow. Its the strength in depth at home that this team has. Heatleaders 14 rides 8 paid and full wins 2nd strings 7 rides 6 paid and full wins Reserves 9 rides 3 paid and full wins And only 2 last places. -

The weather can be a leveler. Usually when the track is effect by the rain it can go against the home team. As for Team Managing to say he has not been in the job long, I have never seen anyone to be as tactically astute as Steady. Never mind not long now, and it will be time for talking to stop and the racing to winning. And one thing is certain Tigers will come out on top. But which one? -

They will have to perform far far better than their last meeting. Last time they were at Sheffield none of the Glasgow heatleaders won a race The Sheffield heatleader trio are pretty formidable around Owlerton. This season they have raced in a combined 231 races. Of those 231 races they have scored either a paid win or win on 156 occasions The 2nd strings (Bates and Kurtz) provide some useful back up with 53 paid wins or wins from 123 races. We are very tough to get anything around Sheffield. -
Josh G, Bomber and Barker. Add if he is fit Jason Garrity. Heat 13 could be something very very special.

Last report I saw was that Sheffield would be back to full strength.

Berwick V Sheffield 16/09/2017 @ 7pm

Congratulation to the Bandits on their win tonight, on what has been a tough first season for the new promotion, hopefully next season proves to be more productive for them as they seem to be a hard working forward thinking promotion, and personally I wish them all the best for the future. As for Sheffield I think that our attention is slightly deflected with thoughts on the Play offs and the KOC, we still have a lots to race for. But it has been a massive season for us, with one more home fixture and one away, we are the only team in the league so far to carry a 100% home record, and of the 17 away meetings we have come away with a win in 8 of those meetings 5 of which we have gained maximum points, and of the 9 meetings we lost we managed to get point in 3 of those. It has been a cracking season so far, but the Play Offs are soon upon us and the slate will be wiped clean, and anything can happen and we have a big target on our backs, hopefully we can keep up the hrad work put in by the riders, Management and Promotion and go onto win some silverware. -
Glasgow V Ipswich Cl Wed 13th Sept 2017@7-30pm
spin king replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Good win for the Witches and looks like it could get very interesting for tomorrow night when they come down to our place. Glasgow seem to having some real problems at the moment and they really need to re- group and sort themselves out because they appear to have capitulated and after a promising start to the season it could be that walk away from the season with nothing. They can point to the injuries to riders as a problem, but the other teams in the top of the league have all had the fair share. The heavy money invested in the club by the owners will have been down to wanting success, and it not rocket science that they would have wanted and it is looking as though it is not going to happen this season either. And my guess is that if they do walk away empty handed that the owners will look at all aspects of the team, riders and management alike may find that they could be replaced.
