  1. Surprised to Leon Flint join us, but reasonably happy with the picking him. Lets face it he had a poor season last season, sometimes it happens, but there have ben glimpses in the past that he could have some potential. Sometimes riders are slow burner and take time to reach their full potential. For instances look at Jason Doyle signed for Birmingham on a 6:50 average in 2013. By 2016 he was in the GP's and 2017 he was World Champion, and since then he has been the best rider in the UK.
  2. Does this really matter. Sheffield won the cup over two legs fact is Ipswich gain no advantage so why bring the subject up over a month after the event. British speedway has more important matters to sort out, feels like people are fishing to find problems.
  3. Foe me keep Tai and Chris Holder and release Jack Holder.
  4. Congratulations to Belle Vue on another title winning season. The Aces beat the team that finished the top of the league, and the team that finished 2nd in Final. For those reasons they deserve the title. We all know the rules at the start of the season make sure you finish in the top 4 and get to Play Offs, I am a fan of the Play Offs and they add extra excitement to the sport, so no complaints from me about my team top the league, Belle Vue are the champs this season.
  5. You have to ask the question is there ever going to be the support for speedway in Birmingham. They returned to the sport in 2007, and in that time they have had the following Promoters/ owners. Tony Mole (Premier League) Gary Patchett and Mick Bratley (Premier League) Back to Tony Mole (Premier League and Elite League) Phillips Group (Elite League 2 seasons fold halfway through the 2nd season) Back to Tony Mole (National League) Mason Family (National League and Championship) Tolley Group ( Championship and Premiership) That is 6 changes of Promotions/ Owners in 16 seasons (2020 was not counted as no speedway due to the pandemic). Also factor in that Nigel Tolley at present does not know whether the stadium will be available, and cannot be 100% sure that the club will run because of stadium availability. This has to impact upon his ability to sign riders, for instance a rider like Tom Brennan. Tom has an offer from Ipswich who are definitely going to run next season or Tom receives an offer from Birmingham, who wants him in their team next season, only problem is Birmingham won't know if they can run due to stadium availability. Who is Tom going to choose? Hates me to say it, but you could put the two best and most successful Promoters to run Birmingham speedway and I think that they would struggle to make it viable.
  6. It looking as though we need to release one of our top 3. I think that we should keep a hold of Chris Holder. So it is Jack Holder or Tai to be released. So for me because he is British and we have a reduction on his average for me keep Tai. The 2nd strings, Howarth and Pickering. Definitely keep Pickering he is exciting to watch and he seems to good to have in the pits. And keep Kyle Howarth I am hoping the Anders Rowe rumour is true, and would definitely be a good signing for the club, but do think that he will be hot property and a number of clubs would be looking to sign him up. The Rising Star I would give that to Dan Gilkes. So my team for next season would be. (1) Tai Woffinden (2) Kyle Howarth (3) Josh Pickering (4) Maciej Janowski (5) Chris Holder (6) Anders Rowe (7) Dan Gilkes Maybe a swap deal with Oxford, Janowski to Sheffield and Jack Holder to Oxford.
  7. I got the top 4 correct ( I did say in no particular order) The Bomber statement incorrect though.
  8. I take that is a pop at me. I am 60 year old Grandad and have followed my team for over 50 years. In that time in the top league we have had little success until recent seasons, apart from a KO Cup in 74 when we beat a very good Ipswich team. Fair enough we did beat an injury ravaged team, but you can only beat what is in front of you and over the two legs that is what we did, and I make no excuses for celebrating that success its been a long time coming for me as a Sheffield fan who can remember long years ago when we were in the top league and winning nothing. Sometimes you just have to accept that its not just your year or season and move on and stop playing the victim. Ipswich have a good promotion and a backbone of a decent side and I am sure that they will be up there challenging for honours. I wish Ipswich fans all the best for next season and look forward to our meeting next season. And to all of the Belle Vue and Leicester fans all the best for the Final, there are both there on merit after the Semi Final places and may the best team win.
  9. Congratulations to Belle Vue. The best team over the two legs won. Best Wishes to Ben Cook. That is season over for us, we missed out the big prize, but we still won the KO Cup and finished the top of the league so its not been such a bad season . But we will be back. (Sorry Gavan) Leicester v Belle Vue Play Off Final, who do I think will win. I will plump for Leicester, but would like to see Belle Vue do it again.
  10. Due to illness I will be watching the meeting at home tonight. I don't think it is as cut and dry as some people think. Belle Vue are a decent team and capable of pulling the overall win. The 2022 final Belle Vue came to Sheffield defending a 12 point lead, history could be repeated.
  11. Of course Speedway needs to get away from the programme waving style of fans. Time moves on.
  12. Is there as many as that I thought there were only about 6 of them.
  13. I will say one thing for Aces fans when they celebrate they celebrate well.
  14. Bend 2 Barmy Army only sing songs. Wait till you see what the Aces have in store for you. If they win the flares go off and they are climbing all over the place. When they win as they did at Sheffield 2022 they went absolutely mad Polish style. And them flares stink.
  15. Advantage Belle Vue for me at the moment. But we have come back from bigger more in the past. I thought the first half of the meeting was very gate and go, but the racing came alive in the second half of the meeting. As for Jack Holder not shaking hands after the race, who cares. This sport not love island. Personally I don't give a damn.
  16. You joking, Really was hoping it would be the Holder Brothers.
  17. Mainly be an Aces fan? Which part of the Sheffield team will you be supporting?
  18. Firstly Well Done to the patched up Ipswich team, on putting on good fight, the earlier part of the meeting they gave us a bit of squeaky bum time. It will be interesting to see if Emil comes back for the Play Offs and if he is then it gives them some hope in the Play Offs. But for us its another piece of silverware, and we have been pretty successful in the 4 seasons we join the Premiership. 2021 Play Off Semi Finalist (4th in the league) 2022 Play Off Finalist and KO Cup winners (1st in the league) 2023 Play Off winners and KO Cup runners up. (3rd in the league) 2024 KO Cup winners and Play Off Semi Finalist (1st in the league) Not bad record to have.
  19. Scot presents on Euro Sports. The meeting is not been covered by Euro Sports and the other meeting at Leicester is not been covered so Scot will be available.
  20. As the home team you can set your track up to suit your own riders and unsettle the opposition. You totally entitled.
  21. I think everybody acknowledges that prior to the injuries to Emil and Jason they were possible on course to make the final and quite probably win it. But as pointed out they lost not only the best rider in the league but the second best, its not fair but neither is life and at the end of the day you have to take knocks when they come around. Personally I would love to beat an Ipswich at full strength but it just not possible, but suggest that fans from Sheffield, Belle Vue and Leicester should not celebrate winning the Play offs is wrong and unfair.
  22. Good meetings at Sheffield really. His last 4 visits to Sheffield with Belle Vue. 13 rides 8 points scored . Average for the 4 meetings 2:46.
  23. A win at Kings Lynn would have given us the top spot in the league. But on present form its looking as though Leicester will now finish top., as you would think that they will win both meetings against Kings Lynn and achieve the bonus point. So it is looking as the Play Off Semi Finals will be. Leicester v Ipswich Sheffield v Belle Vue
  24. But for injuries Ipswich I reckon would have finished top of the league and won the play offs. Losing Jason Doyle is a massive loss, for me in the UK irreplaceable, in the UK I think he the best rider. I don't think that any rider in the world could do what Jason does in the UK. Then losing Emil is a further hammer blow, to lose both Jason and Emil effectively turns their season upside down. Some say that they should have got replacements in but I don't think it is that easy, although we are slowly getting a better class of rider riding in the UK, but a large amount of decent riders still don't view the UK worth coming over to ride.
