  1. This an excellent idea, the one thing that gets my goat is the home advantage, the concerts would generate money as well.
  2. Thanks for reminding me I had vague memories of it, and I would only be 9 at the time. I rember at the time think like most people that we did not stand a chance.
  3. Obviously no love losted between the Danes and the Swedes.
  4. I remember Anders in a run off with Peter Collins at a test match at Sheffield many moons ago, can't remember when as I would not be very old, but was one of the best races I have ever seen live.
  5. Sorry Norbold, not read postings properly, I still think Ivan was better but in saying that I never saw Ove ride.
  6. I agree with you there Norbold Ivan is still the greatest rider ever, forget Tony Rickardsson. The thing that does infuriate me that we have the Ove Fundin World Team Championship, when is Ivan going to receive the same accolade.
  7. So did the Sheffield promotion at the time, mind you he did come with the recoomendation of the one and only Ivan Mauger.
  8. My best ever seen in the flesh (1) Ivan Mauger (2) Bruce Penhall (3) Hans Neilson (3) Eric Gundersen (4) Ole Olsen (5) Peter Collins (6) Michael Lee (7) Shawn Moran.l
  9. This definately a classy final and one of the best I have seen in years, pity there is no Brit's but just goes to show how far we have gonew behind the rest.
  10. Where was the old boy from it sounds as though he got about a bit, has anybody seen him recently.
  11. Thats him for sure very old picture anybody know when it was from.
  12. Are we sure this is not Shoddy on the forum, he always goes on about Neil Evitts! No if I saw him again I would know exactly who he was nobody could shout like that guy.
  13. I remember Glenn Parrott , also around that time there was a certain 15 year old called Gary Havelock, he was another one that slipped through the net.
  14. I remember him well he was such character, who had the biggest booming voice I have ever heard, its nice to hear that the guy is still around.
  15. I think you find that the rider who crashed at Sheffield was Simon Green.
  16. Can anybody remember a Belle Vue fan called Old Soldier Boy, he used to follow Peter Collins all over and kind of hero worshipped him. Does anybody know hat happened to him.
  17. Yes I think Ian Jeffcoate did have a few meetings for Scunny, but spent most of his career at Stoke.
  18. Was not John Cowboy Cook a World Champion in some sort of water sport, I think it might have been Jet Skiing.
  19. we have had the odd occasional tie up with both football teams in the city. The chairman of Sheffield Wednesday also own Owlerton Stadium where we ride.

I have heard and saw Barry Thomas ride but never heard of a brother Ivor, did he ever ride.
  21. Yeah I remember him as well good second halfer but never quite made it to team, although I think he had a few outing for teams have a funny Glasgow might have been one.
  22. I remember the old second halves and honestly miss them, you used to see young raw talent, I don't quite remember all the names but do recall an Australian called Hitchcock, who looked good who we signed and loaned out to Workington who struggling in the old National League, he wasn't there long and went home. I am not sure but I think he finished up going to prison in Oz for murder but my memory is pretty hazy. Other that I remember are Phil White who had hair down to his backside, he eventually graduated to the full side, Rob Woffiden, Neil Collins and a guy called Chris Bevan. Sweet Memories
  23. Really sorry to hear about this.
