  1. No problems mate was just putting the idea forward, to see how everybody else thought about it. Of course it would take a massive amount of organisation, but at least I think that we would get to see who is the best rider in the league.
  2. Just sat here thinking of how to change the Premier Legue Riders Championship, and I have come up with this idea. It is in a Grand Prix style, so here we go. Take the top 15 riders from the previous season, not including riders who have move up to the Elite League. In the case of last season these would be; Zetterstrom Somerset Havelock Redcar Parker Glasgow Compton Sheffield Topinka Kings Lynn Lyons Birmingham Nermark Kings Lynn Holder IOW Boxall Rye House Wright Workington Ashworth Sheffield Neath Rye House Stead Stoke Stancl Glasgow Franc Newcastle Every track would host a meeting on the lines of who ever scores the most points win the meeting, with the winner getting 16, second 15, third 14 and so on down to the last rider getting one point. The 16th rider would be wild card of the host tracks choosing, this would mean that those tracks that don't have top 15 rider will still have some interest in the meeting. In the event of a top 15 rider been injuries then his place would be taken by the next rider on the list from the averages from last season i.e. Makovsky of Berwick and so on. Doing this you could see who is the best rider in premier, there would be no track advantage, as all tracks would be used. Also I think that it would be easy to get decent sponsor, as it will country wide ranging from Edinburgh to IOW. What does everybody else think, no doubt I hve missed something does everybody think it might be a goer let me know.
  3. To be honest in this day and age he would notlast two minutes.
  4. Maybe this is something that Promoters need to look at or maybe even a Student rate for admission.
  5. The meeting is run by the BSPA, not by Sheffield speedway we do not gain anything from. Whether you like it or not Sheffield, stadium wise is up there near the top, and I have said this before the stadia plays a big part in staging big events whether you like or not. I see the point that Sunday would be better, not quite sure why they have stuck with Thursday maybe the stadium is not available.
  6. Whinge Whinge it is a neutral track that they have chosen.
  7. I would like to wish all Elite League supporters to Sheffield Speedway for this meeting, all will be given a warm welcome, and enjoy the top riders in league blasting it out around the fastest track in British Speedway.
  8. Apart from Swindon, I know that Ari started at Birmingham, did he ride for any other Baritish team.
  9. Remember Ari Kopenen, he was Kai Neimi'Ss brother in law I think.
  10. Yes he was I believe the Swedish Team Manager for some time.
  11. Cannot see why, I don't think he completed anymore than about 7 meetings in 1978.
  12. Like I say he was a very good longtrack rider.
  13. Thanks for that information, I try and keep an eye on his son's Jari progress.
  14. THe winner Makinen rode for Sheffield very briefly in 1978, I remmeber that he did not pull up many trees, but did not stay long enough to give a full assessment. I also belief that he was a very good Longtrack rider.
  15. It certainly would, as I don't think he has been totally lillywhite, I think that he was a rider who did waste the talent that he had, lets hope that his sons learn from his lesson.
  16. They could feature Kai Neimi and Ari Koponen together, I do believe that they were brother in laws.
  17. Looks as though Scunnie are going to have a cracking line up for Waynes Farewell meeting, I think I will have to try and get to this one, cannot wait to see Andre blating around the Scunnie track.
  18. So they have done well to go all this time with having to cancel then.
  19. Sorry to hear that the Classic is off out of interest is it the first time that it has been cancelled.
  20. Did he not suffer from a recurring shoulder problem.
  21. Benny Rourke what ever happened to him, I seem to remember him going to be the next big thing to come out of Scotland.
