  1. Yes I thought I remembered the guy, seems to have a go at anything to do with Sheffield.
  2. No they would have not, they have run many a meeting, where is your evidence.
  3. Any plans to restage the meeting, I would imagine that they could restage it on the 30th August, spare date now we don't have the ELRC.
  4. I think that Semion means both, which I would go along with.
  5. August you would not need to rely on the lights so much.
  6. Nah, nothing wrong with the lighting, I think it has to be about the air fence, to be honest we have a track that very nearly all bends, could well be that the cost of having one specially for Sheffield was too costly.
  7. Try doubling that for myself, sold the whippett last week, but I refuse to throw away the flat cap.
  8. I think now it is time bury this talk about Kings Lynn/ Sheffield/ ELRC, the meting is going to Kings Lynn, for technical reasons, okay some of us want to know exactly what this means, but the powers that be don't seem to want to tell us, and if they are not going to tell us or promise a statement at a later date then that is it. Personally I hope that the meeting is a success, I think that the Super 7 was and still is excellent idea, and hopefully the mistakes that have happened this year don't happen again.
  9. Nobody has mentioned Benji yet, also watch out for Ben Hopwood and Joe Haines, heard Roynon name mentioned, I don't think so.
  10. Totally wrong we are not a gate and go track, as for been on low wages how would would you know how much I earn.
  11. Right here we go, I am a Sheffield supporter who has had dealings with JC, and I will sy that the guy is a fine man, I have also had the pleasure of listening to him talk about his plans for the future. The guy is like a breath of fresh, and I think that if ever he decides to walk away from speedway we have lost a good guy. Onto Neil, again I have dealt with Neil, I do always agree with what he says or does, but I have the uttermost respect for the guy, and personally I have always found him honest and open. These two are for me along with Len Silver the best promoters in the Premier League, but to issue a statement that says technical difficulties, and no other explanation really looks poor, and makes them look poor. Both don't come out of this without getting their reputations tarnished, especially JC, because his track has gain the meeting, and those of us who know JC know that this is not his style.
  12. Look I like JC, as fans of Kings Lynn who are regulars on this forum will know, I also have time for Sheffield's own promoter's Neil Machin and Dave Hoggart. The thing that galls me is that this appears to have done flippantly, surely betwen the three they should have known about Sheffield and a air fence, what ever the problems are, and the fact that nobody is allow to talk about it gives the impression that they are guilty. Its alright everybody telling me stop complaining, but when you got a youngster , who has been waiting to see the likes of Crumpie, Pedersen, Nicholls, Adams and many more riders, because somebody somewhere has cock up, this is what gets to me. They could arrange it to run at Outer Mongola, I would still be angry, I don't care where its been arranged for, Kings Lynn can have it for. Maybe JC and Neil would like to tell my son why this riders could ride Sean Wilson's testimonial without an air fence, I can explain it, but it would be nice for them just to take the time and effort to explain to fans what the problems are, that is all ask. Rant over now, I wish Kings Lynn all the success, with the ELRC, and congratulate JC, on the way he has revamped these meetings, but please JC next season can we have the PL fours at Sheffield.
  13. First off I am no JC, hater, and I have always supported him, and don't want to crictise on this matter. The only thing I would say that if Sheffield cannot stage it I would have like to have seen it run somewhere else. At the moment nobody knows exactly why it has been moved, we are all guessing that it is air fence, which I think it probably the real reason. As a Sheffield fan we look forward to the showpiece meetings, and to see all the top Elite stars roaring around Sheffield is a real sickner. What ever the real reason, someone is to blame, was it JC who failed to Neil Machin about the air fence, is Neil Machin to blame for knowing that he needs an airfence, but just ignoring it, or is the Man in the Moon. I don't care someone is to blame, and I want to at least say that they are sorry for it.
  14. I am totally peed off with this, this was our show piece meeting that me and Junior were really looking forward to, and too be honest it feels like we have been robbed. It has got to be the airfence issue, I don't think it will be anything else, which something I am angry about, seeing as though we ran Sean Wilson's testimonial without an air fence, and correct me if I am wrong, but don't Ipswich run meetings without an airfence. I do find it a bit convinient that Kings Lynn just happen to have this date free, did they try to get another track personally I think that Birmingham would have been a good choice.
  15. Announced last night 23rd August suubjest to approval of the BSPA, which I would imagine is a mere formality. The meeting is to be called the Garry Stead Grand Prix, and will run on the same format as the Grand Prix, and riders are queueing up to take part, should be a fantastic line up.
  16. Well done to David Howe, and how nice of him to come on the forum and thank people, I have to say that he came over as a really nice guy on the box. I know from talking to tthe people who ran the Sheffield training track when it was operational that David was a regular when he was a youngster, use to tell me what a nice guy he was and that he would come down often and donate gear for the training track to use. Just goes to show that nice guy do win sometimes, Good Luck David and enjoy Cardiff it is well deserved.
  17. Bob did pay a visit to Sheffield last season, cannot remember what he said he was doing at the time.
  18. Like I say I can only go back to 77, and for four season up to 80 Doug rode number 1.
  19. Of course, but I started to go on a regular basis from 77 onwards and for those four season Doug rode number 1.
  20. Nice to hear that he is doing ok, I remember before that he 1978 said he fancied a move to Sheffield, unfortunately the move never came off. I would have loved to have seen him turn out for the Tigers.
