  1. Well Done to Nicki, like Crumpie last year he has been head and shoulders above any other rider in the Grand Prix and fully deserves all the credit given to him.
  2. Did he not become a Born Again Christain, I think I read somewhere he tried to convert Kelly Moran, that is what you call a challenge.
  3. Right about him been as hard as nails, I think that his nicknamre or one of them was the Babyface Assasin. I seem to remember him knocking Kai Neimi out with one punch, at Eastbourne I think it was.
  4. Would like wish the Brit boys Eddie and Lewis all the best for this meeting, although I think that they will do well to get on the rostrum, but in a one of meeting anyhting can happen. To be honest I cannot see any further than reigning champ Zabek or Holder.
  5. Does anybody know what is in the next publication of Backtrack Magazine.
  6. Well done James Sarjeant, a very good third place, and the guy still not 14.
  7. I have got a feeling that it was Booey I know that there is a connection, I know that they friends from school days. Have to agree with your accessment of him been an excellent trackman, the guy did the track at Sheffield when he was Team Manager, I think that he learnt that craft from the Late great Frank Varey.
  8. Thanks for that, another fact is that John Dews was related to the Boococks, I cannot remember whether it was by marriage or whether he was a cousin.
  9. Bob Paulson, retire after the season of either 1974 or 1975, an died around about 1980, he did not ride speedway for any other team, and yes you are correct Bob did commit sucide. Sad to say that John Dews is no longer with us, I think he died of a brain tumour, he went on to ride for Oxford and White City, and I believe that he retire in 1976, he came back to Team Manage Sheffield in 1977, and he did that until 1980. He later went onto Promote at Stoke.
  10. How can you class two riders who have never won a World title in front of one that has.
  11. I reckon on a final of Zorro, Holder, Nermark, and one from these Compton, Tai or Parker.
  12. Think Ove Fudin and Tony Rickarsson would dispute the best Swede tag.
  13. I think that unfortunately he has passed away, I will have a look in my Owlerton Legends book. Personally, I don't go that far back, but I do remembermy old Dad relling me all about him and Clive Featherby, I do know that Clive Featherby is alive and well living in the land of Oz.
  14. Report that he had fallen while practising, and was injuried, the only disappointment for me.
  15. That will be the new ring road that council are building, I hope everybody who were visiting Sheffield for the first time enjoyed the reacing, on what I thought was an excellent meeting.
  16. Weather absolutely glorious, and looks good for the rest of the day, looks like Garry is in for a bumper crowd.
  17. Glad to hear that Cardiff is staying on the agenda, although Wembley would easier to get to, I much prefer Cardiff.
  18. Rode in Sean Wilson's meeting and was not bad, but rode in a challenge for Wolves at the start of the season, and was no big deal. But in saaying that he has the credentials to put on a good performance.
  19. I don't think you will very far away with Simon Stead, Andre Compton and Zorro, would have been nice if we could have got Chris Holder, but I still think that this will be a great meeting.
  20. Read through some of the previous posts, and I think that Scott will finish in the top eight this year, as I also think Gollob will as well. I have to say that both have something in common, and that is this year they have both been inconsistent, Gollob on his day is the most exciting and skillful rider, but his inconsistency lets him down, that is why he has never and will never win the title. I think that Scott will never win the title, but if you put only the riders that could possible win the title in the Grand Prix you would be left with only about 3 or 4 riders. I also think that Scott might now have live with the fact that he is not going to be the Brits number 1 rider. I think that Chris Harris has stole his mantle there, Chris for me is like Chris Louis says not just a racer, but is very intelligent, and I think that as he learns more he will be up there challenging.
