    Iwade

I have heard and saw Barry Thomas ride but never heard of a brother Ivor, did he ever ride.
  2. Yeah I remember him as well good second halfer but never quite made it to team, although I think he had a few outing for teams have a funny Glasgow might have been one.
  3. I remember the old second halves and honestly miss them, you used to see young raw talent, I don't quite remember all the names but do recall an Australian called Hitchcock, who looked good who we signed and loaned out to Workington who struggling in the old National League, he wasn't there long and went home. I am not sure but I think he finished up going to prison in Oz for murder but my memory is pretty hazy. Other that I remember are Phil White who had hair down to his backside, he eventually graduated to the full side, Rob Woffiden, Neil Collins and a guy called Chris Bevan. Sweet Memories
  4. Really sorry to hear about this.
  5. Yeah Mckeon suffered a bad injury did he not was he not invloved in the crash that ended Michael Lohmann's career.
  6. Was he not the guy who was killed in the Spanish Civil War.
  7. Too true! It's not as though Weymouth are in the Elite League or ride on the same night and surely Poole are successful enough to help out a little club rather than cause any problems. Yeah I thought exactly the same, after all are not Poole supposed to be the Man Utd of Speedway, how could little old Weymouth cause them any problems.
  8. Sorry a bow to your greater knowledge.
  9. other way round it was Neil not Paul. No I am sure it was Paul Evitts
  10. Got mine this week from the track shop once again a GREAT read, agree with Marcelle would be nice to read about one Speedway's great characters the Late Arnie Haley, is there any chance.
  11. 1982 - how either of them wasn't injured further still amazes me to this day. We've had a few shockers - Carl Blackbird/Simon Green in 1991 and Roman Matousek/Robert Nagy in 1996 are both notorious. Cheers TigerBlade.
  12. Cannot remember the year but remember Reg Wilson and Gary Gugliemi going through the fence on the third turn at Sheffield in the old second half meeting. I f I remember Reg walk away with bruising, but Gugliemi broke his arm.
  13. Er, I did. And yes I've been almost everywhere except Workington and Teeside (which I saw from the flyover a few times but never visited) And the Intercontinental Final of 1977 was one of Peter Collins' finest hours, coming from the back in almost every race as I remember. A magic meeting which is sentimental for me as it was the last event my dad took me to before he died. I think Penhall debuted and got 2pts?? I went to both White City and the old Wimbledon but always thought Plough Lane was a special place but good for gaters- ie Ian Gledhill's NLRC win in 1979. I think the same of Coventry too so what do I know?? Hackney was miles better and my dad really rated Custom House as he called it. The only people I saw regularly come from the back at Plough Lane were Dave Pierce, Barry Lee and George Polley. That WAS racing but you might not know what I'm talking about..... Honorable mentions also to Peterborough, Canterbury, the old Weymouth and Berrington Lough to add to my earlier post...... Yeah I remember watching Penhall on telly and scoring 2 points, I remmember him being pants, and wondering what all the fuss was whwn he signed for Cradley.
  14. A part from my own track Sheffield I thought Belle Vue's old track at Hyde Park was brill. I remember John Louis beating Bruce Penhall for the BLRC, and taking him from the back , pure class from Tiger Louis.
  15. Paul Evitts older brother of Neil was another that rode under age, for Stoke I believe.
  16. I don't think he rode under age but he rode under a different name Gary Williams I believe, due to nobody could pronounce Gugliemi.
  17. I buy mmine from the track shop at Sheffield.
  18. Any chance about an article about Scunthorpe, by the way the magazine is brill.
  19. sounds like another great publication.
  20. Thats been Adam's problem all along, World beater in one race and losing to a total novice the next, very frustrating but his Dad was exactly the same.
  21. Does anybody know when issue 3 is due for release, also is there any plans to make it a monthly.
  22. I am inclined to agree with the sentiments.
  23. Well done Simon, and good luck for Saturday.

    Phil Crump

Getting back to the topic, I would go for Jason, rather than the old man, although Phil was a good rider.
  25. I don't know about the messiest, but the tidiest was Phil White at Sheffield mind you it use to take him a minute to do one.
