  1. So my first meeting back in the stadium for this match. My impressions of the meeting. The first 7 heats were pretty much gate and go, and Kings Lynn were getting out of the gate far better than we were, and were deservedly getting the better of us. I think we were hampered by the fact that we had lost arguably the best rider or one of the best riders in the league, and a number 1 rider who is not riding anywhere near to his ability. Not quite sure what is with Batch lack of rides, machinery or attitude, possibly a combination of all 3, but if we are going to progress to the Play offs. The problem for us is that there is a lack of available riders to replace him so basically we are stuck with him, but you could feel the crowd are starting to get inpatient with him, and that is not good for the rider or club. Thankfully Ellis, Howarth and new boy Pickering, and bit of back up from our Guest rider Danny King, were hot and they basically got us through what would have been a disappointing loss. The Pickering signing was a Masterstroke, not only is he a good rider he is very entertaining and I can see him been a fans favourite as the season progresses. Kyle Howarth seems a different rider and seems to be showing great form. Adam Ellis has proved over and over again that he was an excellent signing and I only see him getting better and better. Dan Thompson showed plenty of promise, I don't think he is quite ready for the step up to the Premiership just yet but next season with more experience I would like to see the club give him a Rising Star place. James Wright I am not convince he is the right man for the job, and I think we should be actively look around if his performances don't pick up for a replacement. Overall a good fight back from the team, but as a team we need to vastly improve as it is Peterborough next week and this time Bomber will be riding at reserve, which is pretty scarier. And if Jack Holder is missing then we need to chose the best possible Guest rider available to us.
  2. He rode well. He was a little of the pace in his first ride. He was gifted a point in the second ride, but was on the pace The third ride he did really well beating Kerr who was all over him and stopped him passing him. The fourth ride he was an the pace. Overall he did not disgrace himself and show plenty of promise, I not sure that he is quite ready for an Rising Star in the Premiership full time, but this season I would like to see us give him occasional runout with the view to giving him the Rising Star place next season.
  3. Josh Pickering shows the clubs intentions to make serious challenge for the Play Offs. I have been following his scores this season for Edinburgh, and his scores have been as good away from Edinburgh as they are at home, which to me is a massive plus. Feel a bit sorry for Seggy but simple fact is that we are replacing a rider who is reserve for his Championship side for an heatleader in another. No brainer really.
  4. Guests have and always been part of speedway. I have seen Guest riders give match winning performance and some where they have lost matches. To be honest if Josh Bates is out for the season or any length of time I would prefer a new rising star to replace Josh. If that was the case then I would go for Connor Bailey or James Shanes.
  5. The best thing that could have happened for rider and club.
  6. Maybe Roscoe would welcome Bates at Swindon.
  7. Who would be paying for the privilege.
  8. Anders is on the Rising Star programme, so I would say that yes this could be done . Would be ruthless management, but very clever.
  9. I think that we need to be on our top form, and as it been pointed out Troy Batchelor needs to show more, if we are not then I think that Aces will come out on top. Clever move by the Sheffield management to get Anders Rowe in as a Guest for Josh Bates. Anders is still on the Rising Star list, the fact that Ipswich choose not to use him as a Rising Star is irrelevant, but you do have to question how well they thought out the Rising Star Scheme, to me it appears to have been cobbled together with very little thought. But what's new.
  10. Piss poor performance from us tonight, and we need to see some improvement rapidly especially away from home. We could well be seeing the axe swing soon unless performances get better. Sedgmen and Wright must improve and they could well be on their way out. Think that we are stuck with Troy Boy Batchelor, even though most of his performances have been well below par. There is a young Aussie guy up in Edinburgh called Pickering could well do a decent job for us. If we can scrap our way into the Play Offs maybe we could replace Batch with Nicki Pedersen (if his Polish commitments have been completed). But the top and bottom is that we need to vastly improve. Peterborough certainly look the surprise package of the League and proving alot of people myself included wrong.
  11. Rode for both Sheffield and Redcar at Berwick in 2019. Sheffield 5 rides 2 points , two 3rd places and three last places. Redcar 4 rides 5 points, one win, one 2nd place and two last places.. Both riding in the main body of the team and riding the number 2 position in both meetings.
  12. When are the next set of averages due out? All well and good having 7 points for one rider, but where is there rider who would fit that bill on that average.
  13. Interesting to see how the Rising Stars for each team are faring so far, So going from top to bottom based on averages without bonus points for meetings raced this season. (1) Tom Brennan Belle Vue 4.00.. (2) Drew Kemp Ipswich 3.30 (3) Josh Bates Sheffield 2.46 (4) Ryan Kingsley Kings Lynn 2.00 (Now replaced by Connor Mountain) (5) Tom Bacon Wolves 1.82 (6) Jordan Palin Peterborough 0.67 Interesting Anders Rowe who featured on the Rising Star list but not used as a Rising Star has an average of 6.57
  14. The points you lost replacing Crump with Nicholls as a Guest, was surely made up with the points gained from the Rider Replacement for Jordan Stewart, no way in the form that Stewart is on would he have got 9 paid 10 from 4 rides.
  15. I think that questions need to be asked of the Birmingham promotion after this meeting. To say that they could only get to work on the track at 5 hours before the start time seems like a very feeble excuse for starting the meeting over an hour late. I did see the that they were also delayed the start as well to get supporters who were still queuing to get into the stadium as well, but Birmingham really do need to get their act together otherwise they could see fans walking away from the sport if they are not careful. And for me it is only fair that the result should stand.
  16. Berwick; £17 Birmingham £16.50 Eastbourne £18 Edinburgh ?? Glasgow ?? Kent £18 Leicester £17 Newcastle; £20 Plymouth £18 and £20 Poole; ?? Redcar £17.50 Scunthorpe £17.00 including programme. Al prices taken club websites. Cannot find prices for Edinburgh, Glasgow and Poole.
  17. We were missing our 3rd Heatleader (Adam Ellis). We take a point at Belle Vue (For me the best team in the league on paper) I will take that everyday. Every Sheffield rider got at least a win or paid win (Exception Batch). Jack Holder was superb for me think he is going to score lots of points this season. Special mention for James Wright who surprised me, rode a great race in heat 2. Sedgman and Howarth had their moments. Bates did not look too much off the pace. Slight concerns about Batch who did not look comfortable all night. If we had Adam Ellis in the team I think things could have been better for us. Belle Vue I think were a little bit disappointing Bewley and Kurtz took time to get up to speed. Worrall's Richie had a decent meeting, but I Steve was poor. Charles Wright can do much better. Thought the two reserves did well. I liked the new Euro Sport production, although I thought there was a definite bias towards Belle Vue
