Got to agree with you that this is going to be one of the most open meetings for sometime, the are around 5 or 6 riders who could win, and then about another 5 or 6 could be spoilers. Not very often I get excited about individual meetings, but this one certainly gets my mouthwatering, I just hope that it lives up to it.

Sorry, but I don't think that the backstraight will be open, unless there is an exceptionally large crowd, as it takes some big organising to open it up, the last time it was open was the Sean Wilson cracker, and the only way to get into the back straight was to to enter the stadium via the turnstyle and leave the stadium and enter around the back. It is a shame though as there is a large terrace on the back straight, and with the weather been nice it would be nice to stand there, and would for me bring back some very fond memories of my childhood.

I would put Kauko, as a dark horse/ spoiler, his Sheffield form since he went to Glasgow and back to Workington has been really good, I don't see him winning the meeting, but could well make the semi's.

I really think that you need to re think what you are saying, these lads and lasses and their parents are ploughing money in with little or no sponsorship, and as any one knows speedway is not a cheap sport, perhaps maybe we need to look at getting these meetings sponsored and pay the lads travelling expenses, or maybe the BSPA to pay these lads. We have the talented riders out their, but unfortunately I think that we are going to see maybe half of these lost to the sport due to costs. I think that we need to see clubs adopt a young lad or lasses, and help them with after meeting rides and travelling costs.

I think that you are missing the point Gollob can win as many Grand Prix's as he or you like there is little chance now of him been World Champion, like Adams a supremely gifted rider, but flawed. -

I have friends who know Nicki Pedersen, and they tell me it is down to mentality, Nicki goes into every series, meeting and race believing that he cannot be beaten, he has little care for what anybody else is doing and is supremely confident in his own ability, and he lets nothing get in his way, the guyis totally focused in what has to do. The same people have been in the pits at Cardiff and be chatting to Jason Crump, he was friendly and very chatty up and till it was time for to ride, and he completely changed, again very focussed on what he has to do, and does not let anything get in the way. I would imagine that Rickardsson was the same , and that is what sets them apart from the rest. -

Lets be fair Scott Nicholls is never going to be World Champion, but tonight he showed us more fire, okay he only just got through the qualifiers, but he made an improvement by reaching the finals. Like Steve Dixon, I am getting fed up Subedei's constant put down of British riders, okay when they have not performed then it is justified, but he beat Adams and Andersen in the semi, when everybody including myself felt that he would not, it is an improvement, and may just give him the extra encouragement on his push for an automatic qualification to next years Grand Prix, if finishes in the top eight then he is there on merit. To be honest the Grand Prix series is getting slightly boring and a bit predictable akin to the Premiership in football, where by you know that deep down that only two or three riders are actually capable of winning the series. Look at the facts since Mark Loram won in 2000, there have been only three winners of the series, Rickardsson, Crump and Pedersen, and the runners up position has taken up by one of these three except for two occasions when Hancock one year and Adams another year. So for the last 7 years ether Rickardsson, Crump or Pedersen have feature in the top two, except for two. -

But very nice of him to mention his late friend Darren Boocock, you might like him plugging his sponsor, but I bet his sponsors have no complaint's. -
I would not argue with you on that.

The track staff worked wonders get a meeting on full stop last night. There are no more stock cars at Sheffield now until the 20th October, so I would reckon that by the PLRC the track will have been sorted out.

Casting an eye over the line up, here is how I see the meeting, and how the riders will fare Adrian Ryml; Was really good around Sheffield this season, but all the talk about the engine blowing up, makes me wonder whether or not he is that good even so I expect him to be near the top. Jason Lyons; Had a good season with the Brum, and does ride Sheffield very well, expect him to be up near the top. William Lawson; Never seems to score many at Sheffield, but did show signs of rapid progress and his scores were better this season at Sheffield, but I just don't think that young Will is the best repesentative at Sheffield for Edinburgh. Shane Parker; Classy rider, but he has missed the most of this season through injury and illness, tend to be a little inconsistent around Sheffield, and I see him just outside a semi spot. Jason Bunyan; The field will be too strong for Jason, has had his good meetings in the past at Sheffield, but none of them recently, I would expect him to finish near the bottom. Kevin Doolan; One of the best visting riders to appear at Sheffield this season, and the Elite League experience he picked up with Belle Vue last season seems to have made him a better rider, is one of my favourites to win the meeting. Sebastian Truminski; After the season Mildenhall have had it would be nice to see them have a rider do well in this meeting, but I think that Seb will do well to score a point. Jason King; Very impressive on his visits to Sheffield this season, I would label him a dark horse/ spoiler, usually there is a rider who surprises everybody and reaches the final Jason could be one of those riders. Ulrich Ostergaard; Like Doolan one of the best visting rider at Sheffield this season, and he appears to really love the Sheffield track, and like Doolan you have to really fancy him to win or at least reach the final. Gary Havelock; A bit like Shane Parker, a very classy rider, but I don't think that he could win it, but will probably reach the semi's. Tai Woffenden; I reckon he should get to the final, what happens to that I don't know, but you have to admire that this is only his second full season in this league. Magnus Karlsson; Has been known to go well around Sheffield, but not recently, another rider who I don't see making the final. Andre Compton; If this was last season I would say he has a very good chance to win, but because of his inconsistency this season, I can only see a semi final spot for this one. Jason Doyle; Difficult one to call as I have not seen that much of him at Sheffield, the last time was for the Isle of Wight, and going on what I saw I dont see him pulling any trees up will do well to reach the semi finals. Ben Barker; Like Jason King I think that he could be a bit of a spoiler, I think though that he is not as consistent and will do well to make the semi's . Dan Nermark; With Ostergaard he is one two who stand out from the rest, but how much did that injury take out of him, but should be a defintly make the Grand Final.

I would not like to say who win this meeting one of the most impressive line ups I have seen for this event.
-
This should be one of the most wide open PLRC meetings in a long time, with the likes of Doolan, Woffenden, Ostergaard, Lyons, Ryml, Nermark as well as home favourite Andre Compton all in with a chance of winning.

Is that what he is saying, I wonder what it was, as I cannot understand a word that he is saying. -
Looking forward to this one, especially the Henny Kroeze interview, I remember him at Sheffield, used to spend alot of the time injuried.
-
I seem to remember him riding exhibition laps at Sheffield, if I remember rightly I think that he came from the Halifax, there was another rider who used to exhibition laps as well at the same time his name was Gary Havelock, wonder what ever happened to him.

Chris Harris And Scott Nicholls
spin king replied to paul84's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't know what the score is between Scott and Chris, pure guess work is that maybe Scott got a little bit miffed about Bomber's British Grand Prix win, apart from that win Bomber's Grand Prix record has been very average, but there was alot made about his Grand Prix win, and I think that might have gotten to him. If there are differences between them both unlike the Danes, the two don't seem to be able to put their differences aside in the World Team Cup, which is sad. As for Bomber been out while the early hours, nobody has actually said whether he was drinking, but I know the Grand Prix at Cardiff 2007, I was told that there was a Danish rider out very late, so I don't really put much into that. As for Jim Lynch I think that I seem to remember reading that Neil Middleditch paid his own way for the Grand Prix, which is again a shame if it is true. I think now is the time to forget about about British success in Grand Prix, maybe keep Bomber in there, as this is only his second year, but that is always assuming that he can get an invitation, but I question whether or not he feels in his own mind whether or not he can compete at this level or not, I am not totally convinced that he does. For me Scott has had his time, he is going backwards and not getting any better in fact he is getting worse, maybe it is that he now has a family and his priorities have changed, having a family can do that to some people. For me the time is right for us to start looking at the younger riders from this country, and getting them prepared and ready for the Grand Prix series, riders that spring to mind are Tai Woffenden, Adam Roynon, Joe Haines and Lewis Bridger, there are others that I think that might push their way forward, but these riders need to be the nucleus of our future, this is what the Danes did they stuck with a group of young riders, nurtured them, and now and when you look they now have four riders in the Grand Prix series, and who is to say next year they won't have five riders. -

Nobody can own these lads as they are both only 14 at the moment, as far as I am aware only until they are 16, can they actually sign for a club. I wish that I could have gone to Northside I would have loved to have seen these boys, they along with quite a few others Danny Greenwood springs to mind need all the encouragement they can get, Promoters need to invest in these boys, they are our future, and if we are going to compete with the Danes and other nations, the likes of James, Jason and Danny are the lads that are going to be the ones to follow in the likes of Tai Woffendens tyre prints. And we as supporters of the sport need to be patient and get behind the boys, they have the talent it needs nuturing. -

I think that you can see Jason at Belle Vue, not seen him for sometime, we used to go to Sheffield training track, where we had the winner James Sargeant and also Cameron Hoskins as well, all lads that are very talented All very good riders, I think of the three James is the better overall rider, Jason is the exciting one, Cameron is a little bit younger but I think given the right backing all these lads will have a fine future. -

Not entirely sure so I apologize if I am incorrect, but don't the Swedish league run on a more regular basis than the Russian League.
