Pl 4 Team Tournament 25/07
spin king replied to Matousek's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Have never been to Berwick I would not know about the infrastucture but if as you say they could do, then bring it on.I am all for sharing events out between all tracks, but for me we have to stick to Premier League tracks, the racing on neutral tracks has for me prove a disaster crowd levels wise. -

I am all for sharing events out, but it has to be clubs that have the infrastructure, and for me it has to be at a Premier League track, why not mix the events up, I am all for the likes of Berwick and co having a go why not, but they must prove that they have the infrastructure to cope with a big crowd and entertain sponsors. Forgot myself there Well Done to Comets. -

I think that the Redcar 4 have the strength in depth, and I think that Workington 4 are there for the taking. -

Scott Nicholls
spin king replied to 2ndbendbeerhut's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Read what went off, and what is the problem, Scott said he wanted to ride, Rob Lyon tells him not good idea. -
Who knows, but Scott was announced as captain when the squad was announced so one would presume that he was the squad captain. I would have expected Scott to assume the role that Lee took on at Peterborough, and I think that the only two people that know why Scott was not at Peterborough are him and Rob Lyon.
-
The one thing that you are guaranteed with Lee Richardson is when the Team GB body colour comes out you tend to get the best out of him, more than any other rider in recent years and very rarely lets us down. The one thing that has come out with this years competition has been his leadership skills, and his acceptance of what we need to do as a Nation and his willingness to step aside for the sake of the future of British speedway. This time we had Scott Nicholls as captain of the Team GB squad and Chris Harris as the captain of Team GB,maybe it is time to give Lee the job, and I am sure that it has not gone unnoticed with Rob Lyon I hope.

Lyons Should Have Picked Scotty
spin king replied to sunnysally's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Should Rob Lyon have picked Scott Nicholls. I like Scott, but this season, he has looked off form, and disinterest, if you look at his body language it gives you the impression that he is rider who is not happy. Did he need the World Team Cup as an extra pressure, where lets face it he would have been expected to lead the team, did he need it was he capable of it, I genuinely think that he was not, and I think that if asked Scott himself he would tell he was not either. Onto Rob Lyon, the one thing that impressed me, was how cool and calm his approach is,does not appear to lose his cool and very calm. The one thing that appears to have instilled with the riders is teamwork, over the period that the team were in the competition they actually looked and acted like a team, even the riders who were dropped or were not included in the first meeting were there to give support and advice which is a good sign. I have seen alot about the so called feud between Scott and Bomber, I don't think it was there.and if it was it not their any longer. I remember seeing Bomber have a nasty accident in the practice session for one of the Grand Prix, one the first people to go over to see to Bomber was Scott, not the actions of two feuding riders. What everyone in this country has to grip on is that we have fallen way behind other Nations, what is needed is new ideas and a,new approach,we need to introduce new blood, young hungry riders. We have to accept that on occasions we might sink, but the main thing that we need to accept is that success will not happen over night, and regardless who is in charge be it Rob Lyon, Rosco, Middlo or the Queen of Sheba its going to take time. I have to say that in Rob Lyon we have in my opinion got the right man for the job,to replace him would be wrong, the guy has improved the standing of Team GB, it might only be small steps but that is what it will take I am afraid, and anyone who thinks that other could make a better job of is deluded. -
Tai Or Kenett
spin king replied to Tommy Sweetman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Before the meeting yesterday I would have said bring in Lee Richardson and Scott Nicholls for Lewis Bridger and Danny King, but now I would go with the following; Lee Richardson Chris Harris Poland Tai Woffenden Danny King Lewis Bridger I think that the spirit within the camp was excellent, and we need that spirit to carry one, brining back Lee Richardson for me is a no brainer, he is having a very good season in England and Poland as well, and has been our most consistent rider for Team GB over the years, and of the 5 from last nights meeting Eddie Kennett was the one that seemed to struggle the most, and I think he will in Poland as well. I don't see us qualifying for the Final, but I think we now have to stick with young guns, and let them now have their time. -
Mr Kieth Chapman

I hope that you are right, how anyone wants to prepare tracks that are ultra slick for showcase meetings like WTC and GP's is beyond me. -

Has anyone ever asked Ole Olsen why he prepares slick tracks for big events, surely it is time for him to step aside and let someone else have a go the man in my opinion is killing the sport with his arogance. -
Swc Event 2, Peterborough 13.7.
spin king replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think we have accept that as a speedway nation we are no longer the force that we were, but there is nothing to say that we cannot be in the future, but it will take time. I really take my hat of to Rob Lyon who appears to have a clear vision as to what we need to do,and I think that we might have found the right man for the job. The team looked and acted like a team, matching shirts and matching kevlars coming out and congratulating each other, and very pleasing to see Lee Richardson on hand to offer support and advice,it is a pity that Scott Nicholls was not on hand to do the same. Okay I don't see us qualifying through the race off,but lets stick with the nucleus of riders that we have in the squad at the moment,I think that tonight they did us proud. -
Thanks for that I knew I had read about this part of Sheffield history.
-
Not too sure, but I think Alice Hart was Promoter at Sheffield, for a short while, I know at some Sheffield had a lady Promoter whose claim to fame was to change the name of the Tigers to the Tars.
-
Have to totally agree, this season he just does not seem to be the same rider, maybe this will be his last season in the Grand Prix, he has now dropped down to 12th in the rankings, and a Aussie wild card would be given to Chris Holder I think rather than Leigh Adams.
-
If both riders have only been fined then that is not enough, okay speedway is a high charged sport, but there is no excuse for fighting on the track in full view of the crowd. Fines will not mean anything to them especially Sayfutdinov, what is needed is ban's to send out a clear message that this sort of action will not be tolerated. I would give out the following bans; Sayfutdinov; 1 Grand Prix meeting ban for Ungentlemanly conduct. 1 Grand Prix meeting ban for failing to control his pit crew. Nicholls; 1 Grand Prix meeting ban for Ungentlemanly conduct. The only way to stop this kind of thing happening is through bans.

Seems like only yesterday, I also remember reading an article in the Backtrack mag from someone who was there that night and their memories a real moving account. RIP Vic.

Another fine read again TMC, just wish it was monthly is there any chance.
-
Totally agree if you beat Kenny Carter you had to ride fast and hard.
-
Have to agree, he is like a breath of fresh air, and I think that he is what the Grand Prix has been looking for, for around the last five years or so.
