  1. Fair enough not quite my style, and you know as well as I do I rate young Ty, and did have him a possible winner, but he did say that he was going to win in the local Redcar press, if he had said nothing or like Darcy Ward if I have got out of the gate quicker I would have caught him, would have been easier to accept, but bang on about home advantage to me is a bit feeble. On the day three riders stood out, Ricky Ashworth, Darcy Ward and Ty Proctor, on the day anyone of those three would have been worthy winners, its was down to that one race in the final, and really down to who got out of the first, and then held their nerve in the race. Luckily that was Ricky Ashworth, but it could have easily been Ty Proctor or Darcy Ward. Okay then fair enough, I still have a splitting headache and when I talk I sound like Mickey Mouse on helium, and I am starting to sound like a certain forum member from Edinburgh, and my old mate Drac says is not my style, I enjoyed the day,and if Ty Proctor wants to believe home advantage played a part then so be it.
  2. Nothing to with arrogance, Mr Proctor talked it large in the Redcar press how he was going to win, nothing wrong with that very confident lad,but its excuses afterwards that gets me, if your gonna talk it large then don't come back with the excuses.
  3. OH DEARY DEARY ME, is this same Ty Proctor, who was talking it large in the Redcar local press how he was going to win the meeting, funny I don't recall him mentioning Ricky Ashworth having home advantage. I think young Proctor needs to put his dummy back firmly in his mouth, and yes very much sour grapes.
  4. For all those who made it across to The Barrack Tavern yesterday,a big thank you, I think we achieved what we wanted I think everybody had a great time I know I did,and still suffering for it today. I think it show a lot about what speedway supporters and Premier League supporters are like especially. Look out later today when I do my Spin King's PLRC Fans Awards.
  5. Funny how home advantage quietly gets ignored when the rider or team that you want to win does so. It's clear in Ashworth's case that he could have won it on any track but it does not in any weaken the argument that it is ridiculous to take such a meeting seriously when one rider has such an advantage. That's not to belittle Ashworth's ability or effort but the judgement of those who allocate these meetings. Funny how nothing is mentioned when Tai Woffenden and Magnus Zetterstrom were winning the PLRC at the last two occasions the meeting has been held at Sheffield, like I say this was more or less the cream of the PLRC. I can appreciate the BSPA not holding the meeting on a neutral track if it is going to make a loss there, as it did at Swindon. But what's wrong with Birmingham ? As far as I am aware, they get bigger home gates than Sheffield, other tracks are closer, its still centrally located, the covered accommodation is at least as good and it has a reputation as a superb, very fair racing strip. The car parking is better, too. Fair comment, but looking at geography of the Premier League, and Sheffield is probably the most central of the all the tracks, and the one which could cope with the type of crowd that attends this meeting. I think no matter where you hold the meeting someone or some riders are going to have an advantage.
  6. (1) Speedway has only over 4 laps,or maybe we should change the rules for the Boy Wonder and have the race over 5 laps or perhaps someone should have turn out the lights and start all over again. (2) I think you left your memory at Sheffield, Kenni Larson fell in the same spot in same lap. (3) Sorry you did not make it across to the pub, a pity really has we all had good fun.
  7. I can tell you your boy Wee Willie did himself and Glasgow speedway very proud today, the Berwick contingent were spitting feathers about him, but I said to people before the meeting he had a very good meeting for Glasgow at Sheffield and I thought he could do very well, many thought I gone mad.
  8. How sad someone comes on this forum, and congratulate's every rider in the final bar the winner, the words bitter and twisted spring to mind,if ever I get like that somebody please shoot me. Well Done Ricky Ashworth, it was a fine win in what has been a difficult season, and today is the best that I have seen him ride at Sheffield in a long long time. Did Ricky have home track advantage,of course he did,I would be a liar if I tried to deny it, but the riders on show today were mainly the top riders in the league and at the end of the day the top boys can more or less put in a decent performance at all tracks. What people need to remember is that neutral track has been tried and was a disaster money wise,so looking at the geography of the Premier League and the stadia and infrastructure Sheffield is the obvious choice for the PLRC, so at the end of the day the BSPA are always likely to award the meeting to Sheffield.
  9. Not really it fair old walk and you would be better catching, the bus or taxi. The taxi rank is just outside the train station, and the taxi fare will be 10 minutes and cost around £9 give or take a £1,or failing that you can catch a bus which takes about 10 minutes, the bus station is across the road from the train station, when you get there go to the Travel Information Centre and tell them you want to catch a First 53 bus to Ecclesfield, or a First 77 and 78 to High Green, they will point you in the direction of where to catch the bus and give timetables. When you get on the bus asked to be dropped off at Owlerton Stadium. have a good time mate.
  10. For those travelling to Sheffield today the weather at this moment is lovely sunny with no rain.
  11. Its all arranged my friend, its just a pity that you won't be there with us mate to liven up proceedings.
  12. I was told by a friend who went down to the track yesterday that the track has been completely re-laid and looked in very good shape, the weather forecast looks good, the line up pretty even,so I reckon this could be a very good meeting.
  13. Looking at the list on Bearstalk I have to admit that the list is very impressive, and looking at the article in their local paper Ty Proctor is as confident coming out on top as is the fans with the drink stakes.
  14. I should be getting there around about 1245pm just before Paulco and his mates.
  15. ADMISSION PRICES £15.00 Adult £10.00 Concession £5.00 Junior 12-15 yrs (Child 11 and under - Free) PROGRAMME £3.00
  16. Don't worry mate already had a butchers at who is coming down, pretty impressive line up mate, but be warned your experience of the beer at Sheffield is a few beers in the Crown and in the stadium.
