Right after the Ty Proctor discussion here we go with the most important moment from yesterday, the PLRC FANS AWARDS. First Award is; I Drank More Than You Award Goes to the first man to the bar, and I believe the last man away from the bar, he filled in his loyalty card which means you have to drink 8 pints, this award goes to Birmingham's finest Bluejam The Improvisation Award After forgetting to bring some paper for us to write down our top 8 predictions, he had a flash of inspiration to improvise, Squall flash of improvisation was to run into the Gents and fetch out a load of bog paper, trouble was it was the thin stuff and your pen would have gone straight through it, fortunately some managed to get some proper writing paper, So the improvisation award goes to Squall The I Maybe Gone For Sometime Award I think that Drac may need to collect this one as I don't think that this person frequents this forum, he disappeared off to get some money from the mini bank, after so long every one kept saying "Where is Pat",and after what seemed like hours Pat turns up, the poor lad had got lost, next year someone better bring him a compass so the poor guy does not get lost. The Winner Redcar's Pat Sharp. Biggest Moan Award He had only been through the door 10 seconds and he was flaming moaning, his complaint was that it was a good 20 yards further than the 100 yards I had said from the stadium to the pub, a bigger whinger than Ty Proctor, the winner of the award for biggest moan Redcar Drac Biggest Sport Award Took some terrible stick, about her accent, her hairstyle, and anything else that the Redcar twosome Drac and Sharp could torment her with, she took it all in very good faith from Berwick Bandits4eva's Mum incidently I thought the Toyah Wilcox haircut looked great, I have Change My Name Award Not quite sure she will agree with it,but I really think it could stick, Bandits4eva will now be forever known as Rockets4va, Sarah stop swearing, this award goes to Berwick's Bandits4eva. Where Is The Curry Sauce Award Was the words apparently said by Shadders when eating his meal in the pub, nothing wrong with that I hear you saying, it was a carvery this award goes to Shadders. The Bravery Award The only person in the pub who was supporting Ryan Fisher, discounting the Coventry Batman and Robin SCB and Silver Bee,and when you consider the amount of Redcar fans in the pub took some balls, the winner of this award Edinburgh King Jamie. The Best Supported Team In The Pub I reckon that just edged it,led by Falkirk Bandit the winners are Berwick There Are Some Nice Kings Lynn Fans Award Not a difficult one,as he was the only Forum member from Kings Lynn to make it to the pub,but he is a throughly nice guy the winner Kings Lynn Bagpuss. The "What Was That You Said George" The Interpretors Award A phrase often used throughout the day, fortunately Paulco was on hand to act as interpretor, this award goes to Glasgow Paulco The Rye House Can Win At Sheffield Award He won the top eight prediction, and that was without the aid of his reading glasses, and just goes to prove that Rye can win at Sheffield the winner Rye House Shadders Funniest Quote Of The Day This a joint award between two the Quotes were; Shadders to Drac in the pub "Are gonna be wearing your pink body warmer for the meeting today Drac" and not to be out done Drac to Shadders at the meeting " Shadders you look like a vicar" Winners Drac and Shadders. The Pipe and Slippers Award Got into the stadium got to where everyone was standing, and could not believe what I was seeing Shadders sat in his nice comfy chair with a pair of reading specs, and one point I was going to ask Spin Junior to fetch him a cup of hot chocolate. I know the Rockets have had poor season but the man has aged 20 years. At one point he did get quite excited, he stood up. Winner Shadders. The Loudest Supporters Award No Brainer, especially when you have the Big Man Drac on yer side the winners Redcar The Loudest Supporter Award Should government health warning if you go up against him, I tried it and now I sound like Mickey Mouse on helium, not advised. winner Drac and finally. The Most Over The Top Celebration Me and Junior had to win something,to explain to everybody at the time we were out numbered 3 to 1, by Redcar fans who had already had the pleasure of stuffing us at home twice this season, and seeing Ricky Ashworth cross the line in first place meant we probably over did the celebrations.Winners Spin King and Spin King Junior Well I enjoyed myself, and I think that everyone else did,I am up for again next, how about everyone else.

Fair enough not quite my style, and you know as well as I do I rate young Ty, and did have him a possible winner, but he did say that he was going to win in the local Redcar press, if he had said nothing or like Darcy Ward if I have got out of the gate quicker I would have caught him, would have been easier to accept, but bang on about home advantage to me is a bit feeble. On the day three riders stood out, Ricky Ashworth, Darcy Ward and Ty Proctor, on the day anyone of those three would have been worthy winners, its was down to that one race in the final, and really down to who got out of the first, and then held their nerve in the race. Luckily that was Ricky Ashworth, but it could have easily been Ty Proctor or Darcy Ward. Okay then fair enough, I still have a splitting headache and when I talk I sound like Mickey Mouse on helium, and I am starting to sound like a certain forum member from Edinburgh, and my old mate Drac says is not my style, I enjoyed the day,and if Ty Proctor wants to believe home advantage played a part then so be it.

OH DEARY DEARY ME, is this same Ty Proctor, who was talking it large in the Redcar local press how he was going to win the meeting, funny I don't recall him mentioning Ricky Ashworth having home advantage. I think young Proctor needs to put his dummy back firmly in his mouth, and yes very much sour grapes.

For all those who made it across to The Barrack Tavern yesterday,a big thank you, I think we achieved what we wanted I think everybody had a great time I know I did,and still suffering for it today. I think it show a lot about what speedway supporters and Premier League supporters are like especially. Look out later today when I do my Spin King's PLRC Fans Awards.

Funny how home advantage quietly gets ignored when the rider or team that you want to win does so. It's clear in Ashworth's case that he could have won it on any track but it does not in any weaken the argument that it is ridiculous to take such a meeting seriously when one rider has such an advantage. That's not to belittle Ashworth's ability or effort but the judgement of those who allocate these meetings. Funny how nothing is mentioned when Tai Woffenden and Magnus Zetterstrom were winning the PLRC at the last two occasions the meeting has been held at Sheffield, like I say this was more or less the cream of the PLRC. I can appreciate the BSPA not holding the meeting on a neutral track if it is going to make a loss there, as it did at Swindon. But what's wrong with Birmingham ? As far as I am aware, they get bigger home gates than Sheffield, other tracks are closer, its still centrally located, the covered accommodation is at least as good and it has a reputation as a superb, very fair racing strip. The car parking is better, too. Fair comment, but looking at geography of the Premier League, and Sheffield is probably the most central of the all the tracks, and the one which could cope with the type of crowd that attends this meeting. I think no matter where you hold the meeting someone or some riders are going to have an advantage.

(1) Speedway has only over 4 laps,or maybe we should change the rules for the Boy Wonder and have the race over 5 laps or perhaps someone should have turn out the lights and start all over again. (2) I think you left your memory at Sheffield, Kenni Larson fell in the same spot in same lap. (3) Sorry you did not make it across to the pub, a pity really has we all had good fun.

How sad someone comes on this forum, and congratulate's every rider in the final bar the winner, the words bitter and twisted spring to mind,if ever I get like that somebody please shoot me. Well Done Ricky Ashworth, it was a fine win in what has been a difficult season, and today is the best that I have seen him ride at Sheffield in a long long time. Did Ricky have home track advantage,of course he did,I would be a liar if I tried to deny it, but the riders on show today were mainly the top riders in the league and at the end of the day the top boys can more or less put in a decent performance at all tracks. What people need to remember is that neutral track has been tried and was a disaster money wise,so looking at the geography of the Premier League and the stadia and infrastructure Sheffield is the obvious choice for the PLRC, so at the end of the day the BSPA are always likely to award the meeting to Sheffield.

Not really it fair old walk and you would be better catching, the bus or taxi. The taxi rank is just outside the train station, and the taxi fare will be 10 minutes and cost around £9 give or take a £1,or failing that you can catch a bus which takes about 10 minutes, the bus station is across the road from the train station, when you get there go to the Travel Information Centre and tell them you want to catch a First 53 bus to Ecclesfield, or a First 77 and 78 to High Green, they will point you in the direction of where to catch the bus and give timetables. When you get on the bus asked to be dropped off at Owlerton Stadium. have a good time mate.
