  1. If these reports are true then it is a very sad day for speedway.
  2. Well Done and like Superguest says looks like Sam Masters is a name to look out for, also looking at the list of scorers how long before the name Tyson Nelson starts attracting attention, although I believe that Rob Godfrey at Scunthorpe has already spoken to him.
  3. If my memory serves me well Jason announced when interviewed that Poole had paid the money for Jason to ride in the event.
  4. To be honest whether it is at Sheffield, Rye House or any other track, the main thing is that the meeting is run. The only fair way to do it is move the venue around to allow fans that do not have transport can attend the event.
  5. I think it would take a brave Promoter to run a meeting this winter looking at the weather forecasts for the next 5 to 6 weeks.
  6. Have to say that I think the new Newport cover for the programme looks really good.
  7. I got my copy on Christmas, young Spin Junior bought it me, and it was a really good read, when Len eventually leaves speedway the sport will have lost a great character. I was very pleased to see that the profits for the book were going to the Ben Fund, Well Done to all concern.
  8. Cannot you and your ex please not air you dirty laundry on a public forum, try PM each other rather dragging out yet another one your many disagreements out into the public domain. Or at least have the common decency to make a thread that warns us that we have to read this rubbish, and try and show some dignity for your daughter.
  9. I think that Tai Woffenden is a good choice, but do think that Bomber can consider himself to be very lucky, the other two are really no brainers.
  10. Sorry mate, but surely you don't need to explain where you stand, surely people will hear you, just following the sound of distant drums.
  11. Really looking forward to the Malcolm Simmons column, I thought it was excellent and very current, I hope the Bruce Penhall one is better, either way I look forward to this excellent publication.
  12. I think that saying the crashes were not caused by the handicap format is very debatable, all I will say is that I don't like the handicap format for me encourages over riding, it is bad enough asking top riders to do it but to ask young riders to do it is not a very good idea, these are riders who are at the start of their careers and maybe don't have the control and the track craft of a more experienced riders, and if something goes wrong as it did for Craig Cook they can be left with a big repair bill, and at this stage of their career they can ill afford.
  13. Glad to hear that the lad is okay, but sorry to hear that the faces a massive repair bill, I really do think that it was not wise to run a meeting like this via a handicap format, it encourages young riders to over ride, I hope in the future they revert back to a normal format.
  14. I don't think he picked up an injury, just a case of bike problems.
  15. Very good first race, but I think that he had to lay down the bike to avoid the fallen Kyle Howarth and damaged his bike, not too sure as I was busy trying to sort out my texting at the time.
  16. I am telling you last season Darcy Ward won the same event, and I predicted big things of Darcy, and tonight Taylor won the meeting and would say that Taylor is just as good, an exceptional talent .
  17. Not a bad meeting, and I think the small crowd who attended the meeting witnessed the next big thing to come out of Aussie young Taylor Poole who looks as though he will have Premier League teams queuing up for his signature, but hardly surprising as he looks pure class. Also big thanks to Kopster who was updating my texts, must have been a pure nightmare up and till heat 7 trying decipher my texts, but fortunately Spin Junior took over, and did a far better job of it than me. One other thing I will say about this meeting can we not have in the handicap format next time, we saw alot of crashes tonight and it mostly down to inexperience riders trying to catch up from handicaps.
  18. They would have to bring a rule that the home riders would have to blinfolded.
  19. Something I put forward in 2007, but most people thought it was unworkable. Here was my idea; Just sat here thinking of how to change the Premier Legue Riders Championship, and I have come up with this idea. It is in a Grand Prix style, so here we go. Take the top 15 riders from the previous season, not including riders who have move up to the Elite League. In the case of last season these would be; Zetterstrom Somerset Havelock Redcar Parker Glasgow Compton Sheffield Topinka Kings Lynn Lyons Birmingham Nermark Kings Lynn Holder IOW Boxall Rye House Wright Workington Ashworth Sheffield Neath Rye House Stead Stoke Stancl Glasgow Franc Newcastle Every track would host a meeting on the lines of who ever scores the most points win the meeting, with the winner getting 16, second 15, third 14 and so on down to the last rider getting one point. The 16th rider would be wild card of the host tracks choosing, this would mean that those tracks that don't have top 15 rider will still have some interest in the meeting. In the event of a top 15 rider been injuries then his place would be taken by the next rider on the list from the averages from last season i.e. Makovsky of Berwick and so on. Doing this you could see who is the best rider in premier, there would be no track advantage, as all tracks would be used. Also I think that it would be easy to get decent sponsor, as it will country wide ranging from Edinburgh to IOW. What does everybody else think, no doubt I hve missed something does everybody think it might be a goer let me know.
  20. Is not about time to bury this, there are people who are going to call for neutral venues, those who are never going to accept Ricky Ashworth won on merit and on home advantage, those who feel that Ricky Ashworth won purely on merit, and for me that is what I am going to do and I am not going say anything else on the matter.
  21. Fair enough, the minute Ricky crossed the line to win, I knew we were going to get these types of comments,so god only knows why get myself into these types of arguements. I take peoples point about neutral tracks, but at the end of the day it appears that when it is held at Sheffield more people turn up for the meeting than they did do at the last neutral track, and at the end of the day the BSPA want to make the money. I still don't agree with the home track advantage though, the meeting was a straight 20 heats the winner is the rider with the most points then yes I think that there might be a point, but winner is decided by one race the final, and you could have been the top man in the meeting and still lost.
  22. Right after the Ty Proctor discussion here we go with the most important moment from yesterday, the PLRC FANS AWARDS. First Award is; I Drank More Than You Award Goes to the first man to the bar, and I believe the last man away from the bar, he filled in his loyalty card which means you have to drink 8 pints, this award goes to Birmingham's finest Bluejam The Improvisation Award After forgetting to bring some paper for us to write down our top 8 predictions, he had a flash of inspiration to improvise, Squall flash of improvisation was to run into the Gents and fetch out a load of bog paper, trouble was it was the thin stuff and your pen would have gone straight through it, fortunately some managed to get some proper writing paper, So the improvisation award goes to Squall The I Maybe Gone For Sometime Award I think that Drac may need to collect this one as I don't think that this person frequents this forum, he disappeared off to get some money from the mini bank, after so long every one kept saying "Where is Pat",and after what seemed like hours Pat turns up, the poor lad had got lost, next year someone better bring him a compass so the poor guy does not get lost. The Winner Redcar's Pat Sharp. Biggest Moan Award He had only been through the door 10 seconds and he was flaming moaning, his complaint was that it was a good 20 yards further than the 100 yards I had said from the stadium to the pub, a bigger whinger than Ty Proctor, the winner of the award for biggest moan Redcar Drac Biggest Sport Award Took some terrible stick, about her accent, her hairstyle, and anything else that the Redcar twosome Drac and Sharp could torment her with, she took it all in very good faith from Berwick Bandits4eva's Mum incidently I thought the Toyah Wilcox haircut looked great, I have Change My Name Award Not quite sure she will agree with it,but I really think it could stick, Bandits4eva will now be forever known as Rockets4va, Sarah stop swearing, this award goes to Berwick's Bandits4eva. Where Is The Curry Sauce Award Was the words apparently said by Shadders when eating his meal in the pub, nothing wrong with that I hear you saying, it was a carvery this award goes to Shadders. The Bravery Award The only person in the pub who was supporting Ryan Fisher, discounting the Coventry Batman and Robin SCB and Silver Bee,and when you consider the amount of Redcar fans in the pub took some balls, the winner of this award Edinburgh King Jamie. The Best Supported Team In The Pub I reckon that just edged it,led by Falkirk Bandit the winners are Berwick There Are Some Nice Kings Lynn Fans Award Not a difficult one,as he was the only Forum member from Kings Lynn to make it to the pub,but he is a throughly nice guy the winner Kings Lynn Bagpuss. The "What Was That You Said George" The Interpretors Award A phrase often used throughout the day, fortunately Paulco was on hand to act as interpretor, this award goes to Glasgow Paulco The Rye House Can Win At Sheffield Award He won the top eight prediction, and that was without the aid of his reading glasses, and just goes to prove that Rye can win at Sheffield the winner Rye House Shadders Funniest Quote Of The Day This a joint award between two the Quotes were; Shadders to Drac in the pub "Are gonna be wearing your pink body warmer for the meeting today Drac" and not to be out done Drac to Shadders at the meeting " Shadders you look like a vicar" Winners Drac and Shadders. The Pipe and Slippers Award Got into the stadium got to where everyone was standing, and could not believe what I was seeing Shadders sat in his nice comfy chair with a pair of reading specs, and one point I was going to ask Spin Junior to fetch him a cup of hot chocolate. I know the Rockets have had poor season but the man has aged 20 years. At one point he did get quite excited, he stood up. Winner Shadders. The Loudest Supporters Award No Brainer, especially when you have the Big Man Drac on yer side the winners Redcar The Loudest Supporter Award Should government health warning if you go up against him, I tried it and now I sound like Mickey Mouse on helium, not advised. winner Drac and finally. The Most Over The Top Celebration Me and Junior had to win something,to explain to everybody at the time we were out numbered 3 to 1, by Redcar fans who had already had the pleasure of stuffing us at home twice this season, and seeing Ricky Ashworth cross the line in first place meant we probably over did the celebrations.Winners Spin King and Spin King Junior Well I enjoyed myself, and I think that everyone else did,I am up for again next, how about everyone else.
