Bydgoszcz Grand Prix
spin king replied to pedropete's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lets be fair Scott Nicholls is never going to be World Champion, but tonight he showed us more fire, okay he only just got through the qualifiers, but he made an improvement by reaching the finals. Like Steve Dixon, I am getting fed up Subedei's constant put down of British riders, okay when they have not performed then it is justified, but he beat Adams and Andersen in the semi, when everybody including myself felt that he would not, it is an improvement, and may just give him the extra encouragement on his push for an automatic qualification to next years Grand Prix, if finishes in the top eight then he is there on merit. To be honest the Grand Prix series is getting slightly boring and a bit predictable akin to the Premiership in football, where by you know that deep down that only two or three riders are actually capable of winning the series. Look at the facts since Mark Loram won in 2000, there have been only three winners of the series, Rickardsson, Crump and Pedersen, and the runners up position has taken up by one of these three except for two occasions when Hancock one year and Adams another year. So for the last 7 years ether Rickardsson, Crump or Pedersen have feature in the top two, except for two. -

But very nice of him to mention his late friend Darren Boocock, you might like him plugging his sponsor, but I bet his sponsors have no complaint's. -

Is that what he is saying, I wonder what it was, as I cannot understand a word that he is saying. -
Looking forward to this one, especially the Henny Kroeze interview, I remember him at Sheffield, used to spend alot of the time injuried.
-
I seem to remember him riding exhibition laps at Sheffield, if I remember rightly I think that he came from the Halifax, there was another rider who used to exhibition laps as well at the same time his name was Gary Havelock, wonder what ever happened to him.

Chris Harris And Scott Nicholls
spin king replied to paul84's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't know what the score is between Scott and Chris, pure guess work is that maybe Scott got a little bit miffed about Bomber's British Grand Prix win, apart from that win Bomber's Grand Prix record has been very average, but there was alot made about his Grand Prix win, and I think that might have gotten to him. If there are differences between them both unlike the Danes, the two don't seem to be able to put their differences aside in the World Team Cup, which is sad. As for Bomber been out while the early hours, nobody has actually said whether he was drinking, but I know the Grand Prix at Cardiff 2007, I was told that there was a Danish rider out very late, so I don't really put much into that. As for Jim Lynch I think that I seem to remember reading that Neil Middleditch paid his own way for the Grand Prix, which is again a shame if it is true. I think now is the time to forget about about British success in Grand Prix, maybe keep Bomber in there, as this is only his second year, but that is always assuming that he can get an invitation, but I question whether or not he feels in his own mind whether or not he can compete at this level or not, I am not totally convinced that he does. For me Scott has had his time, he is going backwards and not getting any better in fact he is getting worse, maybe it is that he now has a family and his priorities have changed, having a family can do that to some people. For me the time is right for us to start looking at the younger riders from this country, and getting them prepared and ready for the Grand Prix series, riders that spring to mind are Tai Woffenden, Adam Roynon, Joe Haines and Lewis Bridger, there are others that I think that might push their way forward, but these riders need to be the nucleus of our future, this is what the Danes did they stuck with a group of young riders, nurtured them, and now and when you look they now have four riders in the Grand Prix series, and who is to say next year they won't have five riders. -

Nobody can own these lads as they are both only 14 at the moment, as far as I am aware only until they are 16, can they actually sign for a club. I wish that I could have gone to Northside I would have loved to have seen these boys, they along with quite a few others Danny Greenwood springs to mind need all the encouragement they can get, Promoters need to invest in these boys, they are our future, and if we are going to compete with the Danes and other nations, the likes of James, Jason and Danny are the lads that are going to be the ones to follow in the likes of Tai Woffendens tyre prints. And we as supporters of the sport need to be patient and get behind the boys, they have the talent it needs nuturing. -

I think that you can see Jason at Belle Vue, not seen him for sometime, we used to go to Sheffield training track, where we had the winner James Sargeant and also Cameron Hoskins as well, all lads that are very talented All very good riders, I think of the three James is the better overall rider, Jason is the exciting one, Cameron is a little bit younger but I think given the right backing all these lads will have a fine future. -

Not entirely sure so I apologize if I am incorrect, but don't the Swedish league run on a more regular basis than the Russian League. -

To be fair I think that he had got it about right up until the Scott Nicholls decision. -

Sorry Sub, okay you don't rate the guy, but come on Scott did not dump on Ipswich, he did want many a sportsman does at any club, he asked for a transfer, he never let Ipswich down, okay I can accept that he might have dumped on his Swedish club, but there are numerous amount of riders who have done the same thing AJ, Tony Rickardsson, Greg Hancock, but to name a few. Your constant pulling down of any British rider, he becoming tiresome and very very boring. -
I think that you will find that they will go with at least one GB rider, because Cardiff is one of the main GP's, what I would like to see is a a Grand Prix A and a Grand Prix B, both Grand Prix to run on the same day at different venues, after each Grand Prix the bottom 4 from the Grand Prix A would be replaced by the top four from Grand Prix B. Do away with the semi final's and the finals, and replace them with run off's between riders who have tied on points, the winner of the World title would be the rider who accumelates the most points in the A grand Prix.

Very sad news, my thoughts are with his family and friends.

Good Luck to James Sargeant, and I hope that the engine is okay for this meeting. -
To be honest I am trying to provoke an answer from a certain Forum member, this is the 2nd time I have asked him to answer the question to this answer.
-
World.
-
If this is the way to go then I would include the top eight, the Under 21 Champion and the Wild Card, the other six would come from from the qualifiers.
-
Right start a topic to try and get an answer from Subedei, should nominating riders to enter the Grand Prix be stopped for all riders, should all riders that don't finish in the top eight of the Grand Prix be made to qualify
-
Thanks for clearing that up.

I am sure that I read somewhere that Stuart Mountford was the son of a former rider, assumed that the this must have been his father.
-
I remember a rider who rode for Stoke in the 70's and 80's I think his name was Stuart Mountford who was I believe an Aussie were they related.
