I am not so sure, I think that he probably stay as an asset of Scunthorpe club, riders transfering to other clubs is becoming a rarity these days more likely that if the lad does decided that Sheffield is more suited to him then Scunny will take a loan fee for him. That could provide Mr Godfrey with a nice sideline for him as he has an abundance of young talent on his books.

Would be hoping to get over for at least one of the matches, will certainly be supporting the joint team at Sheffield. I would imagine that the there will a decent contigent from Sheffield as Coops is very popular with the Sheffield crowd, and Ash The Works Birks is proving to be very popular as well.

Of course June, I track back to riders that Sheffield brought in from the past from Scunthorpe Keith Evans and Tony Boyle are two that spring to mind. The clubs have a long history of working together, long before Neil Machin and Rob Godfrey came onto the scene. The thing is that the National League (Conference as it was then) is not new to Sheffield we did have a very fine set up with the Prowlers who were very much the Saints of that time, but because we did not have the facilities and have the ownership of the stadium that Scunthorpe have and finances mean't that the Prowlers had to go. I don't know what the agreement that the two promotions have over signing riders, I am sure that Sheffield might pick up the odd rider, but down to the facilities and amount of track time that a rider might get at Scuthorpe that the vast majority will choose Scunthorpe. I can fully understand the worries of some of the Scunthorpe fans, but Neil is type of Promoter who thinks very similar to Rob Godfrey, and always encourages young British rider. Just a thought maybe call the joint team simply "Saints", keeps it identity from Scunthorpe but does not have to change the name from Scunthorpe Saints to Sheffield Prowlers dependent on where they are riding.

I think that we need to look at the history between Scunthorpe and Sheffield. In years gone by when Sheffield were a British League team and Scunthorpe National League Sheffield sent riders to ride for Scunny, who from that era were Scunny legends, Phil White and Nicky Allott spring to mind, and I am sure there were others but those two are the main ones. Since the formation of the Scorpions in the National League Sheffield have also sent riders for Scorpions in the National League, and wonder how many Scorpion fans celebrated the Pairs win in 2006, when they won with two Sheffield riders Cooper and Compton. Moving onto the Scorpions in the Premier League, Sheffield have provided Scunthorpe 6 of their assets since 2008, Richard Hall, Benji Compton, Emiliano Sanchez, Andy Moore, Joel Parsons and Ben Wilson. Moving on to the present, this is an excellent chance for the lads who are in the team, not only are they riding two totally different tracks, but I believe Sheffield are entering a team in the Midland League, which will give further opportunties to lower end riders in the team, and racing other tracks that are entered in the league I believe that likes of Leicester and Birmingham are also entered so more racing opportunites for young riders, which is what the youngsters need more than anything else.

Bucking the trend then, seems to be the other way around these days.

Might thoughts exactly, I think that when the fixture was orginally set Bluejam was looking at this one as its the closest to our base, so I would think that it could be well within the radar.

Thanks Tony, Could you please ask Shawn (1) If Sheffield had not closed down does he think that he would have seen out his career at Sheffield? (2) Which present day riders excite him? (3) Does he feel that he could have stood a better chance of winning a World Title if the Grand Prix Series had been around in his era?

The idea of calling the team Hull originally came from myself and it was to give the team a single identity, as I could not see the team selling by calling it the Saints or the Prowlers. I had not thought of the idea of sharing the name of the team, which seems to be the best compromise at the moment.

Yeah I think that Jason Garrity could be a stand out rider, but don't write off Kyle Howarth, who is a very talented rider, saw Kyle ride in the British Semi Final at Sheffield and he did not disgrace himself and even gated and beat Andre Compton on the night.

That looks a pretty strong looking National League side, maybe another league title for Jason Garrity.

All riders sign to the Saints past and recent are assets of the Scunthorpe Promotion, and will stay that way. As for any other rider signing for merger team they will have the option of signing for either Promotion. The team at present will be made up of Scunthorpe assets, but Sheffield could sign up riders for the merger team with them possibly coming up for selection for the National League team. Of course riders from the merger team would I imagine get preference to ride for any of the two clubs regardless to who they are contracted to.

Incline to agree with you Vince on the grasstrack scene, very rarely do see riders coming through from Grasstrack, and when you think back to the 70's and early 80's when we had an abundance of riders at international level a large proportion came through from the grasstrack scene. I know that the grasstrack scene was hit badly with the foot and mouth so that could have turn future riders to motocross. I think that it time to go back to basics along with some forward thinking, with some structure, but I think that we need to realise that things are not going to be okay over night, maybe a 10 year plan put into place.

Totally right mate, we seem hell bent in this country sticking youngsters on 500cc bikes, and it just does not work. What I would like to see is under 10's on no more than 80cc, under 12's 125cc under 14's 250cc and under 16 350cc, this would teach them better thottle control. Also we need more coaches, I don't what qualification if any there needs to be a speedway coach, maybe something needs to arranged that coaches work for a coaches badge.

Disappointing is not the word, me Bluejam, Paulco and Spin Junior were going to a league on the 1st, after the Grand Prix. For me the league was going to be the highlight of the trip the one thing that I was looking forward to more than anything else. But looks like I will miss out and no way can I afford to make another trip this season, so it looks like I will have to waited for 2012, and at least I still have the consolation that we atill have the Grand Prix to look forward to.

I think the promotions have answered that question, by saying that the team will be run as Scunthorpe/ Sheffield and race as Scunthorpe at the EWR and as Sheffield at Owlerton, and share the name away. I via Junior put forward using the Hull, more to keep the Hull name alive, but like I said whats in a name, and probably the way that they have done it is probably the best way of dealing with the name of the team.
