Dave Hoggart does read the forum pages and Facebook pages, so I think that he might know what the fans think. Whether the Promotion will listen to that is another matter.

Simon Stead issues a come and get me plea. http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/speedway/gb-star-awaits-tigers-decision-1-5091593

Or was it because changing would have meant riders would have been obsolete equipment that was why they did not endorse the change.
-
If believe what you read on the Leicester 2013 thread. Kauko Nieminen and I would imagine the other will be. Simon Stead.

Speedway transfers are very rare these days, and if a rider does not want to ride for club even though they own their contract then they won't. My guess is that Ipswich will be happy to pay Scunthorpe a loan fee for the season.

Seems strange of group of riders that came through at the same time with likes of; Gary Irving Steve Worrall Richie Worrall Ashley Birks. The pick of the bunch only Richie Worrall has not rode for the Scorpians. Could it be that Stefan Nielsen finishes up doing the same.

Amazed no one has mentioned James Sarjeant, he is a Coventry asset so must be a serious consideration for a team place.

2013 - Changes / What Do You Like ?
spin king replied to Lewis's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Some very good suggestions particularly like the ones highlighted. -
I would not rule him out, but it appears that he wants to stay Berwick. But if, Berwick and Ricky cannot do a deal then he would be a viable option.

Do you mean a out and out number 1.

2013 - Changes / What Do You Like ?

Do away with official warnings for anticipating the start but not hitting the tapes. You move your excluded. Too many reruns and too many ref's choosing to apply their own code. The one thing that really frustrates me. For me Do away with the intricate league point scoring system. Lets have ; 2 points for a home 3 points for an way win. 1 point for a home draw 2 points for a away drawn 1 point for the an aggregate bonus point. Play Offs to stay But only for the top 4 and on a Knockout Basis. Return to the Young Shield For team 5th to 9th.only. When they say all 4 back mean it, don't let riders go back to pits for a cup of tea. If weather is poor then no parade.. No tactical ride. Return to the tactical substitute ride after 6 points behind and no double points. Every team should include at least one British rider per team. -
I think after the season that we have just had the objective is for us to build a team that is going to challenge for honours or that looks like it will. I think there was a lot of people that looked at last seasons team and just did not fancy the teams chances and deep down that is why there was so many fans stayed away. To most Sheffield fans these day finishing as lowly as 8th is generally termed as a poor season, so to finish 2nd from bottom was a disaster, we generally expect to have a team that finishes in the top 5.
-
I suppose it depends on the make up of the team, if were to say get a erserve in that could score decent points away from Sheffield then it could be possible for Richard Hall to come back to the club.. But for me Ricky Wells offers more to the club than Richard in terms of points at home and away so for me Ricky Wells would be my own personal choice.

Kauko Nieminen Premier League average is 8.18 so would fit in as a number 1.

Would prefer Simon Stead.

And did that meeting involve going to Newcastle after they did not make the Play Off Final?
-
Would rule out Swedes, but if you look at the Premier I don't think there are many that ride Sweden on or the Swedish League that runs on a Tuesday. Also Sheffield don't have a strong history of signing foreign riders. But pretty academic as the Promtion have stated that they are considering riding Sunday instead.

Here we go, the usual tripe of your not the true champions. As others have said the league was a means to qualification simple. For those moaning about the Play Off system, how much more exciting can you get that the Championship goes down to a last heat decider. Scunthorpe are the Champions simple. Newcastle simply ran out of steam. Congratulations to Scunny And commiserations to Somerset on a fine fight and losing out on a last heat decider. ;

Just got back after a week in Salou so not seen much regarding news for speedway. Not overly keen on the move to Sunday racing, I work every other Sunday alot would depend upon what time they move the start time ideally later the better for maybe a 6.30pm start but that would rule out my mate Squall so a start time around 3.00pm to 4.30pm might see Squall still been able to go. But in saying that for speedway is a sport that should be raced under lights and day time speedway just does not seem right. On to team matters really do hope that the signing of Simon Stead comes off, I think that he would be the type of rider who would be good for the club. He would capture the Sheffield speedway public imagination and the fact that he is from Sheffield also goes down well with the Sheffield supporters. I think if we want to be successful I think we should forget Richard Hall, yes he is entertaining around Sheffield, but the away form lets him down and for me he is a luxury rider, sooner rather go with Ricky Wells who maybe does not score so many points at home but scores far more away from home. Would love to see Simon Lambert return to the club, would make an ideal reserve and James Sargeant to partner him again another local rider who I think could do well for the club. As second heatleader would like to see Josh Grajczonek, for me a very underrated rider who is better than his average suggests. So I would be looking at a team so far of (1) Simon Stead. (2) Joe Haines (3) Ricky Wells (4) (5) Josh Grajczonek, (6) Simon Lambert (7) James Sargeant That would leave us with around 7.14 to play around with for the last rider. Maybe a young Dane coming in someone that the club could bring on as an asset.

Or could they be thinking of striking up a deal with the stadium owners to switch race nights with the greyhounds on Tuesday. No other Premier League track runs on a Tuesday so no fixture classes, and no Elite club rides on a Tuesday. Also running on a Thursday clashes with Swindon, so running on a Tuesday would free up a Sheffield born rider to sign for the club and double up with Swindon. Simon Stead appears to be the fans popular choice to lead the club next. But then again new Workington Promoter Tony Mole is about to bring Simon back to Workington.

Rye House V Berwick Pct 2nd Leg) 28th October 6pm
spin king replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Another example of Promoters wanting to take people's money without wanting to listening to their fans, interesting he says kids go free when the facts are that only those under 5 receive the admission free.I think questioning the rights for a family ticket is not out of order and I am amazed that a Promoter of Silver's experience would see the benefits of giving one. -
