  1. Did think that this was a bit of bluff, but thinking about it the Sheffield Promotion have insisted that they will be competing in the 2nd section of the play offs although they were not certain to finish 2nd from bottom, so could be element of truth. I hope not the sport can ill afford to lose another track.
  2. In light of recent news that rumour could br not true.
  3. Typical Scunny response massive chip on their shoulders at least you won't go hungry. Point is how many of those riders have actually done full seasons for the club straight from the National League I keep hearing Scunny fans talking about backing British riders yet they started the season with 2 Danes, 1 Aussie and 1 Finn Rob Godfrey has done magnificent job at Scunthorpe no denying that, but he does own the stadium there and that is where Scunny have a distinct advantage over us at Sheffield we don't and cannot offer the opportunities to young riders to practice like they do at Scunny. But I am sure that Scunny fans obsession with Sheffield will continue. ,
  4. The Promotion has a lot of thinking to do for next and I think that the team needs major surgery. My assessment of the rider this season who should stay or go are. Pepe Franc; Misses far too many meetings riding on the continent, and far to inconsistent at home (Release) Hugh Skidmore; Not got any better, not got any worse in his time at Sheffield. I think for him to get any better he needs a move (Release) Emiliano Sanchez; I do see him getting any better, and think it time to say thank you and good-bye. (Release) Richard Hall; This was chance to shine, and I am afraid too many times failed away from home, and I don't think he was to convincing at Sheffield (Release) Ricky Wells; At times frustrated the Sheffield crowd with his great performances for The Wolves but poor when riding for Sheffield, but he did start to show some good form at the end of the season and he was our best performer away (Retain) Joe Haines; Start little bit slow, but after the Under 21 win really started to pile up the points and slowly starting to get back to his best, he is not quite there yet but certainly deserves another crack. (Retain) Chris Schramm; Love his effort and desire for the club, but his average could be a stumbling block. The heart says retain but the head release (Release with a heavy heart). That would be only two riders retained, and I think we now have to look for a rider who will lead the team, someone understand the fans and maybe capture the crowds imagination. I cannot see Ricky Ashworth returning to Sheffield so soon I think he will go back to Berwick. Of three names that spring to mind that could be a possibility. Simon Stead, local lad who I think could do a similar job to the one that Sean Wilson did when he came back to the club. or Joe Screen, depending what happens at Glasgow, anyone who takes over at Glasgow might decide to release Big Joe. or Ty Proctor, not had a great season at Wolves and might decide that a doubling up role might just suit him. The second heatleader role I would pick out from Josh Grajczonek. or Rene Bach. Ricky Wells would be third heatleader. 2nd Strings Joe Haines to occupy one of those positions And the other I would look to see what Scunthorpe do, I think that they might have to release either Birks or Palm Toft, either one of those I would take.either one of those two. Reserves Simon Lambert's average reduced and proven at that level for Sheffield. And then I would go for local lad James Sarjeant, he has had some decent performances Guesting at Premier League this season, and rides the smaller tracks well. So my team would be. (1) Stead/ Screen/ Proctor (2) Haines (3) Wells (4) Palm Toft/ Birks (5) Grajczonek/ Bach (6) Lambert (7) Sarjeant A mixture of youth and experience with some local lads. . Of course Palm Toft is a product of the National League. Scunthorpe don't exactly have a track record for using those National League produced riders.
  5. You are obviously hoping that they are going to change the points limit.
  6. Because to join the Premier League they must have a track and stadium of their own.
  7. I think the days of describing The National League as a Development league have long gone. While ever the league is made up of teams that have differing Agenda's, where you have teams that are stand alone teams or teams that are basically 2nd teams of senior teams. I do find it very funny that the more complaints come from the likes of Stoke, Rye House and Scunthorpe. Stoke have used Tony Atkin for the last two seasons who is nearly as old as me. Rye House David Mason And Scunthorpe who have an abundance of young talent at their finger tips at the start of the season were prepared to use Jason King As for Joe Haines riding in the short term replacement for Adam Roynon, well he is rider who is or has been putting his career back on track, and the thing he needs is extra rides, and I find it more frustrating to see the riders above getting place or been given the opportunity rather than Joe taking some rides on a very short term basis.
  8. I guess you have never been to Sheffield and our World's Best Car Park.
  9. Whoops must remember not to post while I am eating my tea, should read the last couple of months.
  10. Remember that in the KOC there is no tactical rides a team goes so far behind they can pull points back in the league. In saying that this is our last home fixture, and I think that the riders will be determined not finish their home fixtures with a loss.. We also have Joe Haines returning at reserve who has been scoring decent points over the last couple of points. I will take Sheffield to win by 6. .
  11. Now done and posted on the Speedway Gneral Discussions Board.
  12. Here we go. Best visiting team; Workington/ Berwick/ Edinburgh Most unluckiest team; Somerset Sheffield Rider of the year; Joe Haines. Most baffling Sheffield rider; Ricky Wells Premier League form v Ricky Wells Elite League. Best meeting; Sheffield v Leicester Best visiting fans; Leicester very vocal. Worst visiting fans; Leicester far to gobby . Best after meeting meal; The Parmo. Most baffling incident at a speedway meeting; Squall trying to kick me in the nuts at Redcar. Funniest moment; Squall falling in love with his Parmo and wanting to be the South Yorkshire/ Derbyshire ambassador for the Parmo. Most baffling Team Management decision; Sheffield v Glasgow. Unluckiest visiting fan; Paulco who came down to Sheffield to see his team get humped, but missed his teams victory. Best texters; Squall and Spin Junior the Batman and Robin of the Updaters Best Updater; Youngy Worst Guest rider; Justin Sedgmen Best Guest rider; Christian Henry. 13. No more disgraceful than buying a chicken burger, asking for no mayo and finding when you get it that they have put mayo on it. Now that would be enough for anybody to kick off.
  14. Or they could Choose to put the smile back on your face and sign Simon Lambert. Do a deal with stadium owners and get free car parking for the best car park in British Speedway. Ban Halifax Tiger from the raffle to give everyone else a chance to win the raffle. Get a new Track side Presenter. And re-open the bar on bend 1 so that I don't so much of the beer. And Neil Machin gives you a tenner every week to buy a drink for a change..
  15. I will agree that this season has been poor, but to claim that the club has been steadily going downhill over a number of seasons is not true. Last season we finished second in the league, and fourth the year before hardly suggests the club has been going steadily downhill. Will be interesting to see what the Promotion do next season.
  16. Well my nomination for Team Manager would go to Halifax Tiger. He has an excellent winning mentality (he won the raffle yet again at Birmingham last night) He has those lucky shorts, not only does it shower some look on the team, but also with those legs bound to bring in a large contingent of females who would come just see Tiger's legs. And he is good at filling in a programme. Has to be a done deal..
  17. Congratulations to Bandits, end of the day the best team on the night won. Nice to meet up with my Bandits friends again. Also a big well done to the track staff for getting the meeting on apparent certain part of the track had been under water, not that you would have guess looking at the track before the meeting started. And some of the Sheffield riders need to take a long hard look in the mirror at themselves then look at Chris Schramm, because that guy puts in 100% every race and has no luck. Been a long hard season supporting the Tigers this season, roll on 2013. And again Well Done The Bandits. Any one know if its still raining in Scunthorpe.
  18. Still raining at Sheffield, but the forecast is good showers till 1.00pm, and then the rain stops and sun shine from 6.00 pm onwards. Generally they reckon providing the rain stops by dinnertime the track will be okay.
  19. Quick question,or clarification of the rules; Alden is not injured or riding in a FIM meeting, should Berwick be allowed a facility. I thought in cases like this teams were only allow to cover with a National League Guest.
  20. So it will be the lucky shorts, Plymouth programme board. And a winning raffle ticket.
  21. Very bold move by the Somerset promotion, Vissing a very good and fast rider, but does come off the bike very often and seems to spend lots of time on the injury list. As for Sam Masters Sheffield have a spot in their team that would suit him fine.
