  1. We will have to wait and see, looks like we will find out Thursday morning who the rider could be .
  2. I don't think it is Koppe, in fact I don't think it is a Aussie.
  3. There was a rumour that his Mother was British, but that was proven to be untrue, so he comes in on a 5 point assessed average.
  4. Could it be that your wish will come true.
  5. Don't see why Newcastle could not go with a heatleader trio of; Rene Bach Mark Lemon Staurt Robson.
  6. What about a Sheffield team of. (1) Kauko Nieminen (2) Joe Haines (3) Cory Gathercole (4) Ricky Wells (5) Stuart Robson (6) Simon Lambert (7) 3 point rider.
  7. I would say anything up to a week after the meeting. So there could be an element of truth in what Dave Massey Harris might be saying.
  8. Yeah but did not half put the cat amongst the pigeons.
  9. Ruling out Ricky Ashworth Charlie Gjeddde Pepe Franc That would leave; Craig Cook Joe Screen Leigh Lanham Kauko Nieminen Stuart Robson Ben Barker Ulirch Ostergaard Josh Auty Jason Doyle
  10. Sheffield do speak to all their assets before putting their team together, but generally they allow riders to ride where they want to, hence the reason why I have rule him out, as he has already said that he would like to be back at Berwick. Me neither, just showing what could be possible.
  11. Okay what about. (1) Ty Proctor (2) Joe Haines (3) Ricky Wells (4) Cory Gathercole (don't believe I actually said that) (5) Kauko Nieminen (6) Simon Lambert (7) 3 point rider.
  12. Some fair comments there, so if not Simon Stead then who else. The one thing that was blindingly obvious last season was that we need a rider who could score big points on a regular basis.
  13. I will agree with the vast majority of what you are saying. I do think Steady would be a very valuable number 1 is Swindon form towards the end of season was very good. The big stumbling block appears to be to get him we would probably have to change the race day to Sunday. My own personal view is that if that is the one sole reason for changing the date then we should stick with Thursdays, there are other riders out there Ty Proctor I am told has twittered that he is not riding in Sweden or Poland next season and would welcome the chance to double up. He would come in a slightly lower average thus giving us more points to play around with. If you believe the Leicester 2013 thread we have already signed up Kauko Nieminen, who would be a better option than what we had last season. Much as I think Steady would be just what we are looking for, I think that there has to be a limit to what we do to get him, and if that is why the Promotion are considering the change only on that basis then I would say stay with Thursdays and lets look elsewhere.
  14. Crowds did drop when Ricky left the club. I don't think last season was about one rider leaving it was more of a case of the lack of a true number 1, which Ricky would be if we brought him back. But too be honest unless unless Berwick don't run then we won't see him back at Sheffield.
  15. Much as I would like to see Simon back at the club, I have to agree with the last sentence. I don't think that Simon is considering any other Elite League club other than Swindon and it appears that any Premier League spot he might take would have to fit in with his plans to ride for Swindon..
  16. Ricky has stated that his preference is go back to Berwick for next season.
  17. There lies the problem, if we run Thursdays we can kiss goodbye to signing Simon Stead as he wants to double up with Swindon, both Swindon and Sheffield run on Thursdays.
  18. Also don't think that Sheffield would be able to afford Ben, could well be out of our budget on the money he may want, and also don't Sheffield is a track that he particularly likes.
  19. Those comments are okay but. Sheffield fans want Simon Stead. And Simon Stead want to be back at Sheffield. Simon Stead says he needs the race night to change, Sheffield fans generally prefer the race night to stay the same. Massive dilemma for tthe Promotion.
  20. I cannot see Ben riding for Sheffield. If we ride on a Thursday that will clash with Birmingham. If we ride on a Sunday it would clash with Poland Ben signed for Wroclaw last season.
  21. Says tea time on a Sunday in the Speedway Star, I suppose what they term tea time as. Thursdays would be better for me.
  22. I think that they are taking the matter of changing the race night very carefully, as well as the team building, that is why they have not made a snap decision. The latest news from the Speedway Star is that they are looking at a possible start time on a Sunday at tea-time,which I would imagine be something around 4.30pm start time. I can see some logic in that as 7,45pm on a Thursday night is not exactly very family friendly as 4.30pm on a Sunday afternoon, and maybe that is what they feel that making the switch more attractive. . .
