  1. still never been to somerset,i take it from your post that you would highly recommend it? couldn't make the pairs last week, was actually going 3 weeks ago to see a meeting but the british weather won.
  2. no i'm not confused as such,as people have said on here it's probably the olympics muddying the waters, at least thats what i'm hoping, don't want to lose cardiff. having read back over previous posts one query of mine has been answered, i was wondering how long the last contract was for and when it was up. lets hope another 5 years is agreed.
  3. apologies if someone has already mentioned this but the gp website says that BSI are in negotiations with the millenium stadium and the welsh assembly government to extend the contract for the gp. it says the negotiations are both complex and ongoing and nobody should make any plans for hotels based on 'rumour' until the dates are made official. hmmm....
  4. either way it will make a nice change from poland or vojens. agree that eskilstuna would be my preferred choice of the two,the few gps i remember there weren't too bad.
  5. yes they have, though i much prefer the gps,the swc is ( at best ) a two horse race right now, though i appreciate that is obviously not bsi's fault!
  6. i've often wondered if part of the problem is the race off,i don't know what pricing incentives (if any) there are if you attend both the race off and the final, but the attendances on the race off never seem too high imo. personally i would prefer two semi finals, top two through and no race off as until russia improved recently there were pretty much 3 meetings simply to eliminate one of poland, denmark,oz,sweden and gb.
  7. i'll stick my oar in and say crump, though he's my favourite rider i would never claim him to be the most easy going of blokes, when i was having brekkie in the celtic manor two years ago he was 10 yards away, decided to leave him alone as i didn't want to get a bad impression of him like whoever the chap in the services has given. they say never meet your heroes!
  8. thats fair enough but its not ideal is it,going from 2005 poland will have had 4 of the last 7 finals. still,i do understand the reasoning, would just prefer a more even spread.
  9. i will qualify that last comment by saying he only had chance to run people wide because he managed a decent getaway from gate one, something which hardly anybody else did all night. i give him credit for that, wish crump had made a similiar jump when he had gate one in his semi.
  10. as you say, even before the first running of the final when emil came off,we knew what nicki would do given half the chance,it was his only hope. he is like an open book isn't he,very very easy to predict what he will do.
  11. as i was walking round inside the stadium before the meeting i saw ( but couldn't hear ) the chris holder bit and saw the drag race with chris harris, didn't see the johnno bit though.
  12. the way its going there will be no brits in it soon so there's a tweak of sorts!
  13. seems to me the cardiff announcer calls them in an order whereby the last one announced will get the biggest response ie a brit or gollob or holder.
  14. totally understand the commercial reasoning behind the recent denmark/poland venues, but to be honest poland are so strong at the moment they would qualify wherever the events were and the same would be said for a full strength danish team, though i know a year or 2 back they struggled without hans and nicki. as regards countries not wanting the final is that actually the case? not questioning you but i would have thought most countries would want the final, are they really that much of a risk financially?
  15. the slicker tracks the gps tend to produce always favour gaters to racers but as there are 3 gps out of 11 in gollobs' country (and even when bydgoszcz is not on the roster its replaced by gorzow his polish team) i wouldn't say greg is favoured over gollob. this title race is far from over anyway imo.
  16. strange though, you would think things would be shared more.
  17. could someone please tell me out of interest why the speedway world cup race off/final venues are currently only being alternated between denmark and poland? i remember reading having the 2006 final but i cannot remember the last time sweden held such an event and i was just wondering why that is. i know olsen owning vojens gives that track a huge advantage selection wise but was it last year they held the world cup final, the gp AND the gp challenge? the events don't seem to be being shared as equally as they could be.
  18. lucky you,my wife kept asking me when is stacey on?! hence walking in at 4.10 instead of the 4.50 i would have preferred like you.
  19. i think wembley 81 had two good races if i remember - penhall beating olsen and penhall beating knudsen. the rest of the meeting was pretty ordinary. to me cardiff is the best sporting day of the year.
  20. what i should have put was i'm looking forward to watching the gp again and interested in what the commentators say about the various exclusions but i don't sit there making a mental note of any mistakes or things i don't agree with!! (although when staechmann said that harris was correctly excluded in copenhagen that was a corker).
