Wolves v Witches Monday 31st May
crumpiefan replied to Badge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thanks for that, yeah there were definitely 9-10 people congregated round him which looked like a number of families. Because I just went on the grass bank by the 3rd bend (very close to where Crump fell) I saw no more of it, but one or two of the women were very upset. -

You could barely see Ipswich winning a heat which is never a good sign. Admittedly Wolves had their gating gloves on but even on the rare occasions Ipswich got out first they got passed almost every time. -

Currently at Monmore. As I'm nosy but avoiding getting close to anyone, if somebody knows what the barney was outside the stadium at 7pm let us know please. CVS was involved, 2 or 3 families, tears the works. Back to the speedway and heat 7! -

Great ride by the young lad. -
I'm just checking the site regularly but I think it will be a few days before the Belle Vue and Ipswich tickets go on sale.
-
Ok, thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that.
-
Thanks, I take it you mean season tickets?
-
Apologies if this has already been covered, I can see a few posts on the subject, but have Wolves made any official announcements on how many will be allowed to attend the early meetings? I'm not someone who wants to go every week, but Belle Vue and Ipswich at Monmore early in the season is very tempting, especially as tbh like many others these last 12 months have been bad for the old noggin. Any info gratefully accepted.

As the name suggests, I am a big Jason Crump fan. Had no inkling that he was coming back to ride in England so to put it mildly I was over the proverbial.......whatever the reasons its just great to hopefully see him ride again. Same goes for NP.

Very true. Huge Virgin office half a mile from where I live but no plans to make it available here. Easier said than done to 'get Virgin'.

Cheers.

Who are the 6 riders who won't be at the practice in Slovenia?

I must be easily pleased, I quite enjoyed that!

I may be wrong here so feel free to correct me but when Olsen had more control over the GPs (ie before Tony Olsson took over) the tracks were far worse....in 07/08 when Nicki won his last 2 titles the majority of tracks were slick and were gate and go jobs, hence Nicki took full advantage. Then Olsson's reign seemed to coincide with better racing and far better viewing. I know that Ole Olsen liked close racing as viewing, not necessarily lots of overtaking but the proverbial follow the leader ( or throw a blanket over the four of them ) spectacle, you rarely saw tracks with dirt on them ( I appreciate potential bad weather dictates to a degree) and I got the impression Ole preferred bone dry slick tracks. So does he not get free reign as much now or is the improvement in the tracks and therefore the racing mere coincidence?

World Championship Pairs
crumpiefan replied to Mark's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Late to the fun as ever but I thought the final race was very odd. Pairs events have always worked on the basis that not finishing last is more important than finishing first, so why Tai felt the need to race Laguta is a mystery. Ok, when you see a rider slowing down (Zagar in the first meeting springs to mind) its quite strange as it goes against the nature of racing but those are the rules. Woffinden was out of this world over the two meetings so it seems harsh to criticise but it is a valid point. Our only chance was him helping Lambert. He didn't and we lost. -
Sgp Wildcards 2018
crumpiefan replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Fair point, although considering the riders who missed most of the season through injury, he could easily have been 12th or 13th. Hard to believe its been a 'straight' decision with the likes of Milik and Lebedevs having good claims. -
Sgp Wildcards 2018

Its absolutely pathetic. In an injury hit season for 3 other riders (4 if you include Lindgren) Holder still got nowhere near the top 8. Joke decision. And this might sound harsh but the top 8 rules are a joke too. I'm glad Vaculik is in but what is the point of stressing how important top 8 is? Zagar may as well not have bothered....but then again he's not a chosen one like Holder. -
Sgp Wildcards 2018

I agree it's good that a sponsor has stood by the SGP. Speedway is not exactly overflowing with big sponsors. I just don't think it's right that they also sponsor some of the riders, yes it's good for those riders but surely there is a conflict of interest there. Even if it's all above board it looks bad imo and there will always be suspicion of them. -
Sgp Wildcards 2018

If Chris Holder gets a wildcard then that confirms two things. The wildcard picks are bordering on a joke and Monster - who I dislike vehemently - have a say. How the main sponsor of a championship can also be the main sponsor of some participants has always been beyond me. Utter joke. There aren't enough picks in terms of who I'd like to see get one, but Hancock is a must. Iversen too for me. Nicki as a three time World Champion probably warrants one last go, whilst Vaculik, Milik and Lebedevs have valid cases. Holder is so far down the list it's untrue. -
The loudest bike was Lindgren's when it conked out. It actually got louder. Never heard a bike 'go' like that before.

Probably the 5th or 6th time I've been, I thought the City itself was quieter than usual and the stadium did look marginally emptier to me. As for the parade I must be old fashioned I just think lights, fireworks you name it are a waste of time and money.
