  1. Regardless of doolans points on track it will be his presence and assistance to north and Poole but especially to heeps and tungate in the pits which will get the team off to a good start. I'm not sure there is a better captain in the PL.
  2. If you see a article penned by elvin king like in today's star don't believe all you read. I think elvin speculates rather than have any information from the club.
  3. I don't think it's a case of Somerset not wanting north but as a peterboro asset he can choose where he prefers to ride. And the Ipswich and pboro promotion seem to get on well too so ita a mutualy beneficial situation
  4. We won the 4TT just a few weeks ago thus claiming some silverware. Just because we assume there will not be a out and out number 1 signed for next season does not mean a unsucessful season. I repeat the pts limit remains the same however you build the team. Top heavy with weak reserves or a strength in depth side. My first wish is to be entertained and if we get a cup that's a bonus. Last season was very enjoyable and this coming one could be better.
  5. I do agree cs that the 4 riders you mention probably won't be big hitters but all could put 1.5 pts on their average and heeps could get a 6pt average. With so many Aussies in the line up the team spirit could be excellant which is another vital ingrediant I do agree cs that the 4 riders you mention probably won't be big hitters but all could put 1.5 pts on their average and heeps could get a 6pt average. 6. The points limit is still 42.5 regardless if you have strong reserves or a top heavy side. Advantages and disadvantages whichever way you go. 1. Doolan 2. Poole 3. Tress 4. Risager 5. North / legault or gathercole 6. Tungate 7. Heeps this would be a solid team with every rider capable of increasing their average.
  7. In the Redcar section of the speedway star, brian havelock says matt is rejoining the witches for 2012. I hope so as he is very entertaining to watch and can ride all sizes of tracks.
  8. I think kevin is the best captain we have had since moggo. Ipswich showed loyalty to kevin last season when many would have replaced him and he listened to advice and acted on it and pulled through and ended very strongly. I'm sure we will reap the rewards this season.
  9. John berry started promoting in the second division I believe. John berry was a very astute promoter but he promoted in the sports heyday when big crowds were the norm. When by the mid 80's times were tough he got out because he didn't want to lose money. I'm sure if jb was owner of the witches now he would have made the same decision to go premier. Why put the future at risk and possibly lose the club or do you cut your cloth accordingly. Look at newports present situation to see what happens when your heart rules your head.
  10. Aljack if you are a elite league snob yet enjoy the speedway at mildenhall that says to me it's not the premier league you have a problem with it's the promotion as you tell us in each post you make. The 36k you mention is not a huge amount when riders in the el can get 25k as a signing on fee. I believe the rent for foxhall is about 75k a year Inc vat. Lots of clubs rely on selling riders to survive but our club under chris louis has moved in another direction. We are adding young assets who will be future stars. The club is moving at a pace which is sustainable. And I applaud that.
  11. My main gripe with the el is if you takeaway the top 20 riders you are left with pl standard. I remember when a nl number 1 would move up to the bl but be a reserve and struggle where now they are 3rd heat leader. Riders in the lower order are now valuable because they have a low average not because of their ability. The points limit is set far too low which is why the low end of teams is so weak. Sorry to go off topic but I just wanted to respond
  12. If the premier is a poor standard please explain how plymouths ben barker is number 1 at Birmingham. How gjedde is a heat leader for belle vue. Glasgows reserve beating bjarne pedersen on his home track. Even lasse has only 2 pts difference between his pl and his nsel average. This season has seen far far better racing with the same riders turning up each and every week unless injured. Another point I wish to make is how the pl riders make the effort to give a victory lap which the youngsters love. Ask the Lynn fans how often the el riders go straight back to the pits.
  13. Oops I thought morris was 5.99. So I'll have to rethink my final rider.
