It has been mis posted in this section and everyone should look at the BSPA website for conformation. Great work by all concerned to get official recognition for their efforts.

Parsloes 1928 nearly is 100% correct. Both teams are giving opportunities to up and coming talent. Obviously Waco would prefer same old every week with the no new talent. Everybody is always shouting about opportunities for English riders, yet here one exists and some people dont want it. Shame on you people who cry about no chances for new talent yet heres one, but it`s watered down. How the hell are they supposed to get a chance if iut isnt for fixtures like this. Hopefully the new riders on show will make a mockery of all the negativity posted. Even if they dont time is on their side. Good luck to those who ride.

Excellent win today against a top team at full strength. During a difficult season, with many a loss at home Stoke could not adapt. Bearing in mind it is a difficult track, all the opposition riders have had previous experience at Buxton and varying success. So a well deserved win and credit to all who rode, Thankx for the entertainment.

I have recently received a book written by Sprouts Elder, published in 1930 called the Romance of Speedway. In the book, the forward is by Colonel the Master of Semphill, any offers on the identity of this man.

Racing at Thrum Hall was the first cinder track motorcycle racing venture of the Halifax and District Motorcycle and Light Car Club. About 5,000 attended the meeting, held under Arc Lamps. (First floodlit meeting). After the lack of passing on the first meeting the track was widened by 2 yards at either end to the delight of spectators who witnessed thrilling Australian riders on their visit to the track on 23 August 1928. The Aussies named as `Stewie` St. George, Keith McKie, Skid Skinner and Geof Taylor heaped praise on the organisers and quoted as saying, the best track in England and similar to those down under. Skid Skinner broke the track record 3 times in the evening and won the team race for White City Tigers against G.L.Reynard of Yorkshire Wolves in 1 minute 37s Several further meetings June 13 & 30. Aug 23 & 30. Sept 6, 20 & 27. also took place

When was the first meeting held in Halifax. We know about the 1929 season, but are their any records to show when the first meeting was actually held and did they have another name apart from the Dukes at that time?

The Northern Junior League was the success of the season, set up to give novices and riders who could not get a National League place a chance to ride . Mr.Swales and Mr.Johnson actually rode for Redcar. Mr. Burnett was the experienced rider to help the novices from Halifax, who actually fielded 4 riders who had not ridden in competetive matches previously. Finally the Girls who rode more than did justice on their appearances, one scoring a paid maximum. Do not be-little the efforts of people trying to enhance the sport at lower levels, they make the higher levels possible with rider progression through the leagues.

During research about speedway in Yorkshire I came across a few sketchy details of a team racing under the name of Halifax Nomads. Having reached a impasse on the subject, possibly someone can shed light on the teams few fixtures or even the existence of a programme involving them?

It looks as though so much more riding opportunitys were available in that period! Was informed today that at least 2 full matches involving the fen tigers juniors took place during the season, is that correct? It`s fantastic the amount of information the forum members supply and it is all appreciated.

Their is no doudt that Jason Garrity is the most exciting prospect this season in the WORLD OF ENGLISH SPEEDWAY. Be he a raw talent or not,he must be admired. Having watched his progress over the last several years, he must be given credit. Yes his over exhuberance does warrant caution, but he wants it more than any other UK rider. Hats off to the lad and lets get behind him, love him or loave him he`s English. What do you people want?
