  1. I will ask again, where is this so called cut off date in the rules??
  2. just out of interest, can any one direct me to a ruling where the cut off date is stated for PL fixtures?
  3. ok, i will not bother to post any more on this topic as clearly people just want to have a go saying that i am a bleating lions fan. Its a sad day, I only started following speedway again when the lions came back, never went to blackbird road, so not one of the old guard so to speak, in fact i used to watch cov many years ago. There are so many things in speedway that i just do not understand any more, the rules have more grey areas than a wet weekend in wales, as they say. May be its time I started to find an alternative to a sat/sun watching a sport i just do not understand any more?
  4. Agree neither side are good enough to win it, could make a difference though in respect of good revenue for either club!! Fair play needs to be seen to be done!!
  5. Yes i can understand your logic, but if lions had been clever they could poss of avoided going to newcastle, there for they would of been in 6th and not 7th place in the lge. not sure how they could of done it? but just think what could happen if it came to being this close in years to come? I am sure the abuse of the system would happen.
  6. I still think things should be judged on equal amount of meetings, i said that if redcar did not get the meeting in before the deadline, then lions last result should not stand. I did not say every ones last result should not stand simply because it is only lions and redcar that are affected. yes i agree they had the chance to get more league points by having 1 more meeting than redcar, but the other argument is that by having that extra meeting they were and are at a disadvantage with regards the total riding points against them. Look to be honest we have not done enough over the season to be in the play off's. But things need to be equal or it will be open to abuse in future years, by teams not completing their fixtures.
  7. well that is a stupid way of doing things!! should all be decided on all things equal. Redcar should race b4 the deadline, if they do not then lions last match should be void !!
  8. Can I ask why you think DH would be responsible for all the investment groups? He was a local person who wanted speedway, not a national company or organisation like the others. It looks to me that all the other parties were all in favour of the project, and this was a major reason the council agreed to the plan, but for what ever reason decided to pull out, you can not force people to part with money if what ever is on offer in the end does not match what they wanted or required. Beaumont only trained on the field in order to save the pitches from being messed up, the club never had ownership of the field the stadium stands on now, it was just open land next to our ground. The floodlit courts were part of the leisure centre, we used to hire them in the winter, so I guess as we just hired them we did not have any real rights to ask for anything? Beaumont were part of the same lottery project as Aylestone park, we got a brand new club house, which is fantastic. The LCC have no money, Sorry to go on about footy on a speedway forum, but just trying to give a reply. PS.I am no longer at Beaumont fc so am not privy to any info regarding any future links with the speedway club.
  9. Prior to Leicester speedway getting the go ahead, I attended 1 of the public meetings held in Beaumont area. At that meeting were the local city council rep, a rep from a company called Pro 5, [ 6 a side football courts,] a person from the body who wanted to build a velodrome. Also the promoter from Kings Lynn. They were all positive at the time about building a sports complex!! As I was part of a local football club at the time, who had around 300 young players, the reps were all keen to get our support to help them to gain planning permission. Pro 5 offered us reduced rates etc in return for us sending out a message to our community that the whole scheme would be of great benefit to the whole area.We were very keen to try and get some sort of benefit for our club as we were about to loose the grass area were we trained our young players on Sat mornings, also where the car park is now there was 2 floodlit 5 a side courts, the only ones in the area that we could use in the winter months for training. After the planning permission was granted, that is when things started to fall apart as far as I understand it. Pro 5 were bought out by Goals, so our agreement went down the drain, so to speak. It is my understanding is that Goals would not commit a large amount of money to a project at the time due to the fact it was only a 99 year lease, they also have a centre less than 5 miles from Beaumont, that at the time was not doing so well? As for the velodrome, I believe one has been built in Derby at a cost of around 5 million pounds. So why would they need another at Beaumont? The Kings Lynn promoter spoke of setting up an education centre at the track to work with troublesome teenagers, don't know what happened to him or his idea?? So to sum up, if all these 3rd parties were not interested in investing in the area? What can DH do?? Or more to the point what can he do now, or who does he approach to invest in the area around the speedway stadium??
  10. Glynn stated that he felt sorry for Bjere because he could not prepare a track fit for him to ride on due to the lack of track equipment [tractor]. He also said it was time for changes!! [ a bit late in my opinion?]. Do not moan about Albin, if you think back, he rode very well on a wet track, 3. 1*. 1*. 3. 0. 0. as you can see as the track dried out he failed to score. As for the sun, well I guess its about time people got used to it, it is never going to fall out the sky now is it! What happened to tinted goggles?? I am not defending David or Glynn, as I think they have made bad decisions over and over. But it just makes me laugh at some of the things they get the blame for.
  11. Just a question to all? Did you stay after the meeting and hear what Glynn had to say??
  12. I didnt go to the footy, but there were many at the meeting tonight who were wearing city shirts, so I guess there were a good amount who went to both. Have to say the crowd did look good tonight, just a shame the team could not perform and encourage them back for the next meeting.
  13. 3 points is a must !! Lets hope Nemo finds some form,
  14. Albin in for Edberg. Well done to the promotion, I hope he does as well for us as he did against us the other week.
  15. I am not one to have a go at young riders, they all have to start somewhere. The point about track time after a meeting is a very good one. If i was a team manager then I would be getting Robert out there, watching him, stopping him, give advice then send him around again trying to follow my hints or tips. Also I think I am right in saying that the meetings are on DVD. So why not spend time studying it ? Have to say I think money is a massive issue in speedway, you can have as much talent as you like, but without the money to back it up you will never be able to afford the equipment to compete. If a young rider can not score points then very little money coming in, so will never be able to get on a level playing field as far as equipment is concerned. As for a mechanic, is there not one person who is involved within the club, who could do this?? If I knew what I was doing I would be more than happy to help out, but sad to say I would not have a clue. One other point i would like to ask is, why do riders get to a track quite late and then take a couple of rides to get the set up right. If they were there earlier they could at least have a run around the track and make sure all is well with the bike. I understand it takes time to prep a track but would of thought this could be done? Unless its against the rules?
  16. Tell you what, I will not put forward any ideas, you seem to have all the know how, you suggest something that might generate more interest??? A different idea might be to represent the name of the meeting. Pride of the Midlands, For example only midland clubs riders? EL. PL. I await to be shot down in flames again!! The 600 people was just a head count coming through the gate, no separation of season ticket holders, or none paying kids, etc. purely a head count.
  17. The crowd was 600 plus. Fact, they were all counted in. Not the best night of speedway, not a good time of year, as Leicester school holidays started as of Friday, Lets be honest, and I do not mean to be disrespectful to any rider who attended, but it was not exactly a top class line up. How many fans from other clubs were really going to travel to support their riders? Especially after the total shambles and expense of the prem fours last weekend!! One idea would maybe turn it in to a competition for prem clubs No1s or at least heat leaders only? Difficult , I guess? But with a bit of thought about the date and timing of the meeting I am sure something could be done? I guess payment to riders may have a big bearing on who would take part though?
  18. Yes I am doubting they have quit!! Follow the riders on twitter, Doolan asked if he had quit? Replied with, Never quit!!
  19. The reason i say the seats hold 480 is because a football club i was involved in had the same stands on hire, end of season sent them back then re hired them again at the start of the season. if they hold more than 500 they come under different health and safety rules, also need a higher grade cert. To compare the 2 testimonials is not quite right, total different calibre of rider, agree that the numbers have fallen, but i would also put some of this down to neutral fans not turning up because its a new track they have not been to before. I am not trying to argue with anyone, I am not a person who will defend the track or DH for that matter. Although saying that I asked him a question last night and he was more than willing to talk to me and answer my question the best he could. I would like to see the club promoted more!! I buy the local paper most nights, only really get a good spread in that once a week, local radio only seems to be once a month? Local TV never seems to cover speedway!! I would be interested to know how many fans you think is a good crowd that we should have every week? What figure do you think we should have?? I will not be able to reply to your post as i am new on here and only allowed so many post in a period of time. I will read with interest.
  20. I have to disagree with you comment about the crowd size at Nemo's testimonial, I do not think it was as bad as you make out!! Also where do you get bus loads of fans from Belle Vue and Workington from? There were only 3 coaches parked in the car park, so at most that is 150 people. If you want to estimate the amount of people attending a meeting then may i suggest you start by using the seats, I think they hold 480 people, and so far it has been near enough full every week. I would take a guess that most meetings there is a crowd of between 900 and 1100.
  21. It was stated at Leicester last night,Adam has a new team and it was expected to be announced in a couple of days.
  22. Hello all, I never post on this site, but I always read every post relating to the lions, I was not a massive speedway fan, and I never went to blackbird road, in fact my first taste of speedway was at Coventry over 20 years ago, when I lived in south Leicestershire. I just remember a rider called Roman M?????. He was a bit crazy, but he excited me in the way rode the bike. He was not the best I don't suppose? He won some, Fell sometimes, but he always had a right old go. I moved to Leicester many years ago, and when I was told speedway was coming back I was very happy, It was to be built within 5 mins walk from my house, couldn't get any better for me. The first season I guessed the team would struggle, new set up, not a lot of money to spend on riders etc, But I went to every meeting, some were good , some not so good, my expectations of that season were low, but I was enjoying watching riders from other teams, With a hope that in the future we would be able to afford some of these riders ourselves when the club became more established? The second season my expectations were a little higher. New riders, etc, club in a better financial position, and I think that happened, making the play off's etc. This season my expectations are much higher, listening to pre season radio interviews with DH and AJ. Stating that changes to the track would be made, which would produce more racing lines, new riders who would be more capable of winning away from home. So now after explaining a little bit of how i see Leicester speedway, could someone please explain a few things to me?? 1. Why are there certain posters on here determined to give Leicester speedway a bad time?? I understand that DH has upset people along the way to bring the Lions back, although I only have the word of the posters on here that that is the case? I have never seen anything in the local press that anyone feels hard done to by DH. 2.The track , certain posters on here keep saying the track is crap!! Changes need to be made, but I have not seen 1 post from these people to exactly what they would do?? I have never ridden a speedway bike so have no idea what shape or size or surface it would need to be to create the perfect racing track, with 2 or more racing lines. I have seen where people have said rip it up and start again, but I can not see that happening, So please explain what is needed?? If it is to cost a lot of money to get it up to the standard the the negative posters require then may I suggest you put forward you plans for the new shape? Size and surface, Then lets get a costing, if need be, raise the money one way or another and get it done. Lets be honest it would not take long with the generosity shown by Lions fans when bucket collections have been made at BP. 3.This one is for DH or AJ. I have to say your comments in the programme about the attendance the other week has annoyed my a little!! From my point a view, like I have said I only live 5 mins walk away, the weather was not good at all !! I normally get to the stadium about 6.15, but that night I was sure the meeting would be cancelled!! I kept looking on the website, on face book etc. many people were of the same opinion as me that if the meeting had started then it would more than likely be stopped soon after, as the rain was still falling hard. I did come to the meeting about 7.10 with waterproofs, hat etc. Went home pleased we won but freezing cold and wet!! I would like to know just how many people you really expected to travel to a meeting that was really a nothing event after the teams poor performance away from home ?? I also think the statement that if the crowd levels drop to that extent then you would not be able to sustain speedway at Leicester in the future, ok fine I understand that but do not be so vague, tells us a figure, how many people do you need?? I unlike many will continue to go every week, I can afford it at the moment, but if things change and i find myself struggling for money, then being honest I would think twice? But if things were better from a racing point of view I would make a sacrifice elsewhere to be able to go. Sorry if I have bored anyone with my questions!!
  23. Thanks for your reply, nice to see that I was not alone in my thinking. Could any one tell me ? If my idea was to be done, how difficult would it be to add more shale and get it to bind with the surface that has been there for nearly a year now.
  24. Hello all, I have been reading the debate on track shape for a while now. I also think it is wrong, I think by moving the inside curb back up the straits a good way would give more lines into the corner. at the moment the track looks like it has a D each end. I could not understand why it was so hard to move the drains away from the inside curbs?? I thought all you would have to do was remove the covers, lower them and seal them off, the put new drain holes further in to the infield. could still keep the drainage system that was there but would just have to run pipes under ground to the original holes. But I am told this can not be done due to the fact that it is not like a normal drainage system where the water just flows away, but in fact under the bends are big water tanks that collect all the water, and they would need to be moved, I think that is where the great expense would come in?? I am not a ground worker so would not really know how much it would cost ? Or how long it would take to do?? If the info I have been given is wrong then I am sorry, and hope some one could put me right, but if it is correct they it may explain why it has not been done?
